I have a festool of 2200 router. How does it compare to festool of2200? Is it worth changing?

Thanks for your comment… appreciated! 👍🏼😊
Way too expensive. Rediculous.
Was the dust extractor even on?
It was… unfortunately it’s not great which is why I did the routing outside! 🙄
Do you get shot at often when doing carpentry
😅 the vest does have that look! Have to say I find it brilliant and much less heavy and restrictive than a tool belt when working inside! 👍🏼
great video I really enjoyed , thanks mate😊
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for letting me know! 👌🏼😁
Annoying music
Great info, thanks. I'm hoping to get away with this as more than temporary on a small flat roof on an ex-coal-shed abutting the house brickwork. The current felt is shot, but it hardly seems to have had anything much in the way of flashing, maybe an inch of bitumen adhesive or similar, which is in better nick than the felt. It's fairly sheltered, and if the primer makes it difficult to remove, that'll be just what I want! When fitting the felt, is it just laid in a fold up the wall and then covered with the flashband over the top, or is the felt stuck to the wall first with adhesive? I thought roofing felt would be stuck to the roof, but I gather it's left to expand and contract so only stuck to other layers of felt. I think it will probably be best to lay the felt in overlapping sections to accommodate where the (unused) chimney goes up the house wall and sticks out a few inches, and there's also a circular drainpipe going through, which will be fun to seal around.
Thanks for the msg. If the surface is prepared correctly (clean and free from dust, dirt and moisture) particularly if primer is applied beforehand then it will certainly last. I recently reinstalled lead (video to come) on the front exposed face and part of this involved removing the temporary flashband I installed over 9 months ago. It was not easy to remove, parts were really well joined to the wall and needed a heat gun to soften the bitumen again. If installing lead the felt would be run up the wall but not fixed to it. The lead then overlaps over the top of the felt. Mortar is removed and lead fits into the gap, held by clips and sealed with lead mate. As I say shot the video, just need to edit! 😄
@@burwoodbuild Thanks, that's encouraging!
Does this include an impact driver?
Nope, this kit is just the multi head drill driver. Though there is a separate 12v impact in the range.
I think that make of flash band is terrible, Just fitted some to the outside bearer of my cabin to concrete and is not sticky at all and heated with a gun. The water pools on the crap laid concrete and floods under the cabin. Put this all down and looked great, Thought it would do the trick but no! not waterproof in the slightest and still got past it and flooded the cabin. I can peal it off really easily too, no adhesion at all.
The bitumen should be extremely sticky once heated, it does come down to preparing the surface to ensure it’s clean. I would advise painting the surfaces with the flashband primer and try applying a fresh strip of flashband.
Lipo batteries scare the shit out of me which is why I held off getting them Powerstacks also given their price. I realise my phone battery is no different from whats in Powerstack batteries. Anyways, is it possible to get by on putting a 4 ah or 5 ah Max battery in the tool if you're willing to let the weight issue slide till I build up the courage, and money to buy the Powerstack batteries? Can this replace the cordless combo kit (fixed base, router base) that Dewalt has. By that I mean is the lock for the plunge on the dcw620 strong and safe enough to turn it into a fixed base router?
The router is an 18v tool so will work fine with the max batteries… I’ve only just started investing in the Powerstacks and they’re defo worth the upgrade though. The plunge lock on the DCW620 is excellent and will allow you to safely use it like a fixed base. It comes with 1/2” and 1/4” collets so you could use it instead of the cordless 1/4” you mentioned although it is a bit heavier.
so please confirm the Dewalt Hose size... I have a DWVCS003 dust cyclone and it uses 48mm hoses, justy like the main workshop vac
I just received mine and is gem
Just what I was looking for, there is no flashing on what would have been my old coal shed / outside toilet, house is 1909, so im going to try this. Although I would like to put the lead flash back but understand the flash has to be chased in to the brick work.
Thanks ☺️ Glad you found the video useful. Yeah, lead would need to be chased into the brickwork and held in place with clips or rolled up pieces of lead. Then sealed with lead mate. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Awww tstak made it into the video that's cute
This is an illegal copy of Viking Arms' patented product. Trial is imminent. Stanley is breaking the law by selling this product.
I don't think these are out in the USA yet, I have been to a few hardware stores in the last few days for some home projects and never saw any and when I asked all I got were blank stares.
Does the small dust shroud on the bottom come with it?
It does
I've had mine for a while , technically it's an 8mm router and uses a reducing collet to take it down to 1/4" . 8mm shanks are 4 times stronger so they are so much more versatile and it really is the best corded router on the market . I have a festool 1010 and a 2200 that hasn't left the boxes since I got this it's powerful enough to do most 1/2" jobs and light enough to do intricate work . The only time I don't use it is cordless when I use the 36v hikoki for worktops or 18v makita trimmer for hanging doors and round overs on trim . Both of which are also outstanding . People may say the lo55 expensive at £650 but it's replaced £1500 worth of festool routers in my case . It's a lifetime tool for sure
It's so big and heavy that if it's loaded with tools, you might break your back when loading or unloading it from the car. However, if you store few tools, there is no need to load and unload huge boxes. All you need is a smaller, lighter rolling tool cart and a few boxes. Therefore, it is suitable for use in workshops or factories rather than for workers moving around construction sites.
I'd like to have one, but $1000 is roughly twice the price I'd be willing to pay. There are lots of drawer systems available at a fraction of this price. Sad.
Great review , but am wondering if the power run will cope with worktop mitres , ?
Can you tell me the dimension between the two Dewalt 2 drawer boxes when they are sitting on any of the dxl boxes clipped in please
Does it do anything that any other router doesn’t do apart from turn itself off
didn't hear you say the number for the rubber adaptor. DeWalt doesn't show the rubber attachment that you use, but it does have a similar one with a rubber tip - DWV 9120 - I For those of us with vacuums (or hoovers) with a 2" hose, we have to screw DWV9190 to the end of the universal adapter to increase the hose size. Hopefully, the screw off part of the rubber attachment will allow us to screw 9190 to the adaptor - eliminating an extra adaptor.
Yeah, we’re talking about the same rubber adapter (dwv-9120) which I demo’d in the vid. Might be an idea to add their numbers to the description to make it easier for viewers to refer back 👍🏼😉
The one specific area all of the rolling systems fail is the WHEELS, THEY NEED TO BE WIDER AND LARGER DIAMETER to make it easier to move around this is especially helpful in areas that are not paved hard surfaces, such as outdoor work locations. Yes you have to work there too! As a minimum the diameter should be nine inches and a width of five inches coupled with heavy duty braced lifting handles on each side this would significantly allow easy movement in any work environment.
Seeing as the systems modular… why don’t DeWalt just provide a second dolly option which has bigger wheels as you suggest for rough work sites? 💡🤔
I'm a DeWalt fanboy and would love this in my shop; but, I think it's overpriced.
I’m hoping they lower the price🤞🏼😬
Have you had the chance to use the Hilti 12v multi head tool? I’m currently debating between the hilti or the dewalt…
Hiya, no personal experience with the Hilti but know they are high quality tools. Use the DeWalt daily and no complaints, does everything I need it to 👍🏼. On paper very similar specs and identical attachments, is the £100 extra for the Hilti worth it?🤔 personally no, but if you have a Hilti account you could probably get it cheaper.
Can you route stuff side ways or does it only turn off when you get any kick back?!
Yes you can 👍🏼 Router will only switch off when it senses a sudden twisting of the router… caused by the cutter getting stuck in the material.
It’s too big for most carpenters, it would be super for me on the commercial sites and schools etc. Those shallow ones look like spanner drawers etc… I’ve just bought the dolly as once on site, as I’ve poured the slab, it’s mm perfect so can skate around the slab with all tools in drawers and keep out the way of my subbies! Nice video!
Thanks 👍🏼 I was thinking more 2nd fix like kitchen fitting or fitted furniture install. 💯 commercial sites!
Nice video, very useful. I have the same router and a few other tools. However, I also have a Dewalt table saw (7492) and I struggle to find an adaptor that fits over the outside of the extraction port (not an Airlock system). Currently its connected to a Festool extractor but am thinking of the Dewalt DWV905M but not sure that will work either. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks for the comment 👍🏼 In answer to your question “Is there an adapter” the answer is more than likely… even if it’s not an official adapter people seem to be using plastic printers to print there own and sell them. I thought the 7492 came with an airlock adapter but if not try searching DeWalt 1004695-90 which slides inside the dust port and would allow you to connect to dwv905m. In all honesty I would stick with Festool when it comes to dust extraction as currently I still think they excel over DeWalt extractors. Hopefully DeWalt will up their came with next gen of extractors.
@@burwoodbuild Appreciate the feedback, Festool are good but the Dewalt is more powerful and to stop the copious amount of dust from the table saw, I need all the suction I can get!!
Sometimes you just have to make things to make things.
Can this be attacked onto a planning table for flatting slabs for example?
💯 yes, power can also be locked on. Check out the full video on my channel. 👍🏼
Can you flatten wooden slabs with this? Or does it have a mist have hands on at all times to operate sensor?
Yes, For sure. With the added benefit that there’s no cord to get in the way. The power of this router can also be locked on when in use. Check out the full video which demonstrates the features. 👍🏼😊
Great review
Appreciate your comment 😊
Thank you for your video , great one . I see in the comments about the expense .. certainly but I did a rough comparison to the example of the DXL on your video 2 of DS carriers @ €150 /£127each 4 of Tough System 2.0 2 drawers @ €108/£91.50 each 2 of Tough System. 2.0 3 drawers @ € 128 /£108.50each Total =£ 837/€988 you can go up stairs and over rougher ground with this choice but in the DXL there is more space, lockable drawers , bigger tools can fit in them etc, so to me it’s a personal choice between the two as which you choose if you are into or dewalt storage systems smile😊keep up the great work .. Joe
Appreciate your comment Joe! 👍🏼😉 I think it’s always good to have choices… and those DXL drawer units are really big!
It's awesome but too expensive,,it will come down in price I bet, the packout stuff is annoying if you work out of a van as the draws don't lock and the metal bars are annoying, the tough 2 draws are the go., DeWalt just needs to get more stuff out there
Agreed… I’ll be waiting to see what happens re price ⬇️💰Also looking fwd to seeing what else DeWalt has in the works!
more plastic to go with more lithium in the workshop... what could possibly go wrong... and what advantage do these have over steel tool sheds?
Portability would be one advantage.
For 1k I’m switching to a pack out system, dewalt has like 3-4 options pack out has 30 they are so behind.
$314 USD. Today. Tool Only.
Works with Henry
Good old Henry! 👍🏼😅
Hikoki still has more power than dewalt. Also hikoki was the first plunge router 1/2” that remains true, the porter cable wasn’t a plunge router. Dust extraction well yeah that definitely has them beat, The anti rotation is kind of meh on a cordless router because the battery will cut out under load in any real bind up of the router stalling it. Nice feature but wouldn’t say it’s a make or break feature.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a msg 👍🏼. Couple of points to clarify… * The Porter-Cable 9290 router motor could be fitted to the existing 690’s plunge base and D-handled base meaning you could make plunge cuts… so my statement was true. *DeWalt has a 1700 watt motor with 70mm plunge cut Vs a Hikoki with a 1500w motor and only a 50mm plunge cut. Higher voltage does not necessarily mean more power. *More importantly to a lot of users will be the ability on the DeWalt to centre the cutter for precision work with jigs. I don’t believe the Hikoki can do that so because of that would not make the shortlist. Because the Hikoki came out earlier it now appears to be lagging compared to competitors… that’s not to say it won’t make sense to some who don’t want to spend a fortune especially when Hikoki have dropped the price again recently.
Shame you didn't use kitchen worktop and swerved a real test by using soft MDF instead. Not really any test at all. Try again with some laminate worktop to compare it against the 2300watt 3 hp Dw625kt that the owners of your chosen jig actually use their routers with
I didn’t swerve any test… as stated it was a video to demonstrate the 4 features I like the best. Towards the video end I committed to carrying out more intensive tests of the router’s abilities in a follow up vid… that’s why it’s always worth watching to the end! 👍🏼😉
@@burwoodbuild I did watch to the end, hoping to find out if it was a capable router. Which the review didn't make clear.
Are the DXL boxes made in Israel like the rest of the Toughsystem 2.0 boxes? That looks like fairly different materials compared to the toughsystem/packout plastic.
Your right TS2 boxes are made in Israel, not sure about DXL but I can find out.
I've been waiting for dewalt to make this router I own alot of dewalt 20v tools. But because Milwaukee had one available I bought it a very impressive tool. But that dewalt looks awesome and it's available to buy.
I think DeWalt have been waiting to drop this new router on their 💯 year anniversary! Lots of decent cordless routers on the market now! 👌🏼
@@burwoodbuild it's crazy how for cordless tools have come. Great video
@@jasonvandervalk3679Thank you, appreciated! 👍🏼 Yeah, I remember it took a while for users to gain trust in batteries and ditch the cord. Now with Powerstack, XGT and Forge it’s all about battery technology! 😅
@@burwoodbuildyes I run everything cordless it's awesome.
Same here pretty much… Great to have more freedom, only downside is incompatibility between different battery platforms.
What is the size of that biscuit cutter
It’s a Trend C152 Biscuit Jointer with 1/2” shank.
Dust extraction is impressive
A lot of brands say they have dust extraction, but it’s usually clipped on and ineffective… this actually works! 😊
Top demais
Did u like the hikoki? Or the dewalt more?
Hikoki is a decent cordless router for the money… personally I would pay more and go for the DeWalt as it’s the next level up and has better designed features. 👌🏼😊
