Great advice, Dr. Amen! thank you for sharing this.

That's great advice for people whose disorders allow them some self-reflection before saying things without thinking, but it looks patronizing for other people whose disorders are... Let's use the euphemism "more severe".

I wish there was a body exercise you could recommend.

I wish they dealt with the comments in anyway; I have not seen any answered 😢
I think the same thing - Are there movements, exercises etc that can help retrain our brains to be more cooperative?
I agree, thoughts & affirmations can help but is there more?

@@PinkLady54 exactly! There are people who need a quick fix to stop the angry impulsive behavior in the moment.

@@Seftehandle unfortunately Tina I don't think there are quick fixes for ways our brains work, whether strongholds that maybe decades old survival coping mechanisms or biochemical brain adaptations early in life to explain things.
I wonder whether my ADD brain is genetic or survival response to a volcanic, violent environment that was not safe; but that doesn't matter as much as how do I 'learn' to use my frontal cortex instead of react out of my brain stem instincts??
I need that answer! I am quite poor by 1st world standards so I am not going to be getting a brain scan & consultation from Amen clinics! but sure would be wonderful if they might read comments & give us a resource that we can study & use to try to help our brains be our friend now that we are more grown up.
Sending prayers You will find help too. Virtual HUGS if You are a hugger ☺️

Is it possible to still not be able to focus or become a good learner if you finally get a nice brain scan

Any Amen staff reading or responding to comments?? Ever?
Affirmations do help retrain our brains but are there any movements or exercises that might help calm the brain stem & allow more activity in the frontal cortex also?
    Can You recommend any resources?

I've got the recommendation from indian people who's been practicing yoga and meditation for all of their lives and lives to do Pranayama every single morning as I watch the sun rise. You can try that.

And to connect the left and right brain-halves and to get the to work effectively together: Do some dancing and singing in the same time before you do something important that requires more smartness. I know a successful soccer team that did just that before their games.

@@PinkLady54 You are welcome. It would be interesting to know if those tips helped you! :-)
I too look for cheap options as I also can not afford those brain scans or treatments. And there are still much ainchent knowledge to try within the Vedic scripts and Ayurvedic and holistic health care. If you can, try to befriend indian people online or in real life who still are into their 6.000 year old knowledge. But be aware that it’s too much info to ever grasp, so just stick with a few well recommended health tips from your indian friends

My goal is to give the least amount of effort and to be left alone. At least, that was my reflexive response.
