  • In this episode from Restoration Diy I make an Intersecting Patterned Bowl with a Segmented Rim an interesting project which was filmed over 6 days for a couple of hours each time, the inspiration for the pattern came from a project I did last year, I had a couple of small problems to solve as I went along but the results look great and I thoroughly enjoyed doing it, Follow along through every stage from start to finish, Subscribe if you haven't already a thumbs up will be great and comments are always welcome.🙂

    Its really cool how straight lines turn into intersecting arches when you carve it out. The bowl has such a nice golden color, epic work here. Is a bit unfortunate that it has some black blemishes. But probably the best option for the tear out. Work with what is given to you.

    I really love this bowl. It is a really beautiful design. At first, I thought you were drawing daVinci's Vitruvian man with all of the lines and intersections. I do have a question. Why do you use that black for repairs? Does it come in wood colors? It sometimes takes away from the rich, golden colors of the wood.

    Would there be a way to have less (maybe almost none) waste...perhaps making a set of "nesting bowls" from the log and epoxy blank...Lovely in my mind's eye... I really REALLY despise waste!

    • @RestorationDIY
      @RestorationDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thank you for your question, with that particular bowl it would have been difficult, with the epoxy bowls most of them have a waste block cast in the center, though if I had the correct tool for coring solid timber blanks it can easily be done.

      I agree I don't use wet wood especially with Epoxy Resin and the shine on bowls I did over a year ago is still as good as the day it was finished 🙂

      @@RestorationDIY the catch is you just cant make a bowl from any old log you find in the forest some do BUT the big crack going down the middle and the dirty brown knot is somehow passed off as sexey and saleable
