  • The "Crystal Cave" Vase, was inspired by the Crystal Cave in Mexico that was recently discovered with care sized crystals and amazing formations. The vase was made with cracked blue resin, mounted on a cherry wood vase and set with clear resin.
    I basically spend my free time dreaming up ways to express my artistic side and simultanously to raise money for Operation Underground Railroad. O.U.R. funds, supports, trains and guides rescue missions for children who are in sex trafficking slavery and free them to better lives with their amazing after care program. We cannot support O.U.R. enough. (OURRESCUE.ORG)

    Love your work and the motivation behind it .
    Get some cheap plastic buckets, cut the bottom of, make a lateral cut and you have already a peace of plastic in a round form malleable in a tampered form put that form on a peace of perspex, plastic and seal it of with silicone caulk

    38 Thousand views and only 360.00 raised to fight CHILD SEX TRAFFICKING? Really? This low dollar donation number smacks of people who want something done. Want SOMEBODY to do something, so long as THEY don't have to do anything. What a sad testament of today's American Society.

    What a "moving" project!
    First, it moves me because of the shapes of blue resin shards. The blue and browns look very, very nice together. The seafoam blue green again the chocolate brown which is a fashion fad these days, makes me want to vomit! These colors are amazing!!! The next movement is the shards really impress me, similar to the quartz cave in Mexico. The shape of the bowl/vase is ideal for all sorts of purposes in the home. The clear resin seems to provide a window into that quartz cave. The light you have shining on the project is that single item which showcases all of your work!
    For your next project, do something similar, but larger and with FISH, goldfish. The orange of the fish and the blue/violet of this piece would really go great together!

    Even though you think a silicone mold might be a waste I don’t think smooth on has a lot of products that are inexpensive you make the general size mold you want it to be you put your project into that silicon mold draw your vacuum after pouring the resin in and even if it isn’t 100% perfect you’re gonna turn it anyway you’ll waste less material your existing process looks a bit time-consuming if you made standard molds of standard size projects whatever that may be just a thought great videos great cause . Are use a 5 gallon pressure pot for spray painting I reverse the plumbing so it’s drawing a vacuum just holds bigger projects you can’t see it foam up but you just do it about as many times as you remember doing it with The side glass thanks again.

    Until the penalties become greater sick people will not stop doing sex trafficking. At the moment the penalties are so low they are not a deterrent. Too many people get away with it and that is the main reason why sick people keep doing these horrible things.
    The victims have to live with the damage for the rest of their lives. I think the people trafficking, pedos and abusers should get a life too. I am thankful for all the help there is out there now for the victumes.

    • @artgivinghope
      @artgivinghope  ปีที่แล้ว

      The vacuum chamber really helps sink the resin deep until cracks and pockets in the wood. The pressure pot helps squeeze micro bubbles to get clear resin. I usually use both...

    Beautiful! I love the crystal cave too! It’s to bad the temperature in there is deadly, it would be an amazing place to see. I know what you mean when you say honey consistency, I’m also in Northern UT. I’ve let my resin bottles sit in a sink filled with warm water prior to mixing. I don’t let the temp get higher than 80 degrees. I’ve had it go off on me if it’s too hot. I also made the mistake of not paying attention to how full the sink was getting.. I looked over to see my bottles bobbing.. luckily I didn’t get any water in them 😅 Great job!

    This turned out really nice. It's so pretty with the light inside. I like your idea of making smaller pieces of blue resin so they seem to float a bit more and so you can see the spaces in between. I was thinking that it would look cool with a cloudy/ creamy white/clear translucent section in the middle epoxy filler section (think candy marbles) and to hang this upside down as a lantern over a table with a dimmable old school looking Edison bulb inside or maybe those fancy Philips smart lights that mimic light based on time of day. I almost started imagining an underwater scene in there because it looks like reefs and lava tube caves. Wonderful work!

    For your bubbles forming you could also take and mix your resin 50-50 with acetone and then paint the wood .
    The resin and acetone mix it will soak in and it will dry a thin coat on it I’ve done that on punky wood and on dampwood to seal it up. It orks really good.

    Not at all saying I know more than you do, however, the "crystals" may not have gotten 100% cured because you may not have let it set up 100% before you poured it. I've found it it's at all cloudy prior to my pour, it goes to the flexible stage rather than how it is supposed to be.

    I know that cave. I showed a video about it to my Earth Science students. It's a very unique place. I tried to do an Amber project for my students made with resin and some plastic flies I found on eBay. It was hard. You should try to so a project using the resin and something in it to make it look like amber sap. Wow that Crystal Cave vase turned out beautiful. Are you selling it or another one? I love thinking outside the box.
