- In this video I am spraying the Spuce Tip Metallic Green base coat. The CJ5 has gone thru a complete transformation from a banged up pile of parts to what you see before you in this video. The chassis is almost finished, a few brake lines to make, driveshafts, and get the engine started and broken in. The weather has been perfect for spraying and as you can see in the video the paint laid down great.
It took 3 coats of base coat to give the coverage that I wanted on all the parts. A 2:1 mix of base and reducer was sprayed thru my Iwata LPH400 spray gun with a 1.3 tip. 22 psi on the regulator and full fluid and fan helped the paint atomize correctly.
SPI universal clear coming next.
you make it look so easy, nice color
thanks for watching
Looks awesome bud! Special thanks to Maria on the camera! take care.
coming along great, thanks for watching
Looking great Brian.Liner covered great.
Yes, the herculiner covered great and should add protection in the wheel house areas
Brian .... Very nice and smooth paint job. Juan
Thanks Juan
Seeing the color in the can I wasn’t feeling it, but seeing it on the Jeep looks sharp!
Don't make a decision yet, the clear will change the color a bit and it will be glossy and the metallic will show thru perfectly.
Yeah I second that- I appreciate your giving the advice because I really respect your opinion especially on jeep restoration
Clear coat coming
I don't think many people realize what it costs to do good body work and paint these days. Looks great! Keep up the good work. This is one of my favorite channels.
MJ
Thanks 👍
Thanks for talking numbers!
Wow, that is a beautiful color
Will be even better once the clear is laid down
I love the color, this Jeep is gonna bling in the sun, can't wait to see it running.
G-d bless.
Clear coat on Tuesday and that will make the Jeep look a bit different. Hopefully will show it in the sunshine soon
Looks amazing. Great job!!
Thank you!
Brian, thank you for the breakdown in price. I didn't know what the cost of a paint job was. Thanks again.
Price for just the materials is high these days.
just beautiful
appreciate you watching
Nice Work
Thanks for the visit
Looks awesome! Thank you for sharing the material costs and some indication of hours. That’s something I had no concept of having just getting into mine.
Hammer down looking great as always!
appreciate you watching
It is good of you to show what real world paint jobs coast, I would venture to say their is at least 500 or more people out there saying my uncle Tom can do a paint job for less and even better. I have heard that crap all my life in the car world and all the other shop guys have to. In the real world 2024 the price is what it is. Thank you for your time Brian your Chanel has helped one hell of a lot of people. Paul
Paint and chemical prices are super high and if you were to add about 100 hours of labor into a paint job you can imagine what the cost would be. Guess that is why a lot of guys paint their jeeps with a brush and roller.
awesome job as always brian ! hope ya neighbors are ok heard the sirens in back ground lol ! sorry i am a active 35 yr vol fire fighter i notice stuff like that
The warm weather has many motorcycles on the road, and almost daily there are wrecks and young rider deaths around here. Sad but true.
When I worked at NAPA in the late 70’s a gallon of acrylic enamel was $38.00 unless it was red or yellow. That ran about $55.
Prices have gone thru the roof on everything.
👍👍👍
More great info. You've already saved me with your information about NOT putting heavy duty clutches in. It's off topic, but what oil would you suggest for a 1985 CJ7 4.2 258 engine?
