...Was the original for flute? Brahms(clarinet-viola), Khachaturian(vn.conc)-Rampal(fl), etc. arranged from the piece with the orignal instrument - to another instruments.

Yes, he wrote this for flute and piano in 1966, then for violin and piano in 1975, changing the second part slightly....
