I firmly believe this is one of Medtner's finest outputs and certainly among the best in the Sonata genre as a whole. Every moment is perfectly written and expressed.

this is very good. I feel like medtner was writing here more for a more general audience then in comparison to his other pieces, beacuse I feel that this music as a whole is much more accessible then some other pieces he's written (i.e. most of the piano sonatas take some time getting used to). Funnily enough the opus after this is also a piece for 2 musicians and is also very accessible (with respect to his usual output, in my opinion)

6:01 to 6:32 is one of the most beautiful passages I have ever heard in any music. I just discovered this piece a few days ago and it’s already one of my favorite pieces. Medtner is astonishingly unknown for how amazing and complex and fun and deep and beautiful his music is.

This is simply one of the greatest violin/piano sonatas of all time and it's a real shame that it's so relatively unknown

It's trully epic! One of the best pieces ever! Medtner was underrated genius and this is one of his biggest masterpiece, it's treasure between violin sonatas.

What I find interesting about Medtner is how baroque he sometimes gets, like 35:02

I suppose Medtner really liked rigorous polyphonic stuff, but he also sometimes goes full impressionism like in the first movement in 8:07... this won't sound out of place in Ravel's La vallée des cloches from Miroirs.

0:15 The voicing on that C chord though! Three Es. Such a vast, atmospheric sound.
