The comic books that Tyer wrote and drew are just as insane as his animation. He was a superb artist --- very attentive to detail --- but his style was to defy anything that was conventional. He was a genius.
If you want to see some wacky animation, watch Bob Clampett's cartoons, particularly those animated by Rod Scribner or Manny Gould. If you want the _wackiest_ animation _ever_ made, watch any Jim Tyer scene.
Both Scribner and Tyer worked in Ralph Bakshi's Fritz The Cat, even thou their work wasn't wacky as in Clampett's or Terrytoons era in this particular job.
After working in Holywood for a few studios, in the 30s, he worked on the East Coast & never looked back (it would be fun to imagine him animating the WB cartoons, Arthur Davis's espeiclaly, with Emery hawkins animaiton, together Daffy and Poky really would be ruibbery).,.,can you imagine Jones's Roadrunnrers with TYer anaimation subcontracted?
Tyer is one of the funniest animators there was. He's a favorite of mine. The takes, the rubber stretchy movements, the vibrations, the wild facial expressions!
Recent documents have been uncovered that he had worked on The Flintstones, which episodes I don't know, I don't recall seeing any of his signatures in many episodes, the eye stretch animation in the series was largely done by Hugh Fraser.
I can’t find the link but Jerry Beck got permission to look through Jim Tyer’s possessions and among them were Flintstones character model sheets, he talked about it in a Facebook post and said he was going to try to find some of his scenes, but like you saw from when I posted it that was a few years ago.

Nicely done! I would've loved to see footage from the 1946 Popeye cartoon "Service with a Guile" included. That cartoon had Jim Tyer written all over it.
Also the pupils of Woody (Series called Woody Woodpecker ) in his 8th episode called "The Screwball" (1943) (at that time he was a lunatic that he still didn't know how to say psychiatrist)in the part that the soda blows up in the cop's face
Yep,The Animator infamous for animating Tiny Toon Adventures,Darkwing Duck, and A Pup named Scooby Doo,Jim Tyer's like the Kennedy Cartoons of the golden age of animation.
Full 20 episodes? No. 5 minute shorts? Yes, he did one episode of Milton the Monster (The Moon Goons), and he also did several episodes of the 1960's Felix The Cat

Actually Jim tyer’s Work on fritz the cat I similar to his work at van beuren studios
Wow, this guy was nuts. Those run cycles! Perfect music, btw.
The Best Terrytoons Animator!
What a clever sense of humor! Also clever synchronization with music at 9:05 and 10:28.

I don't know nothing about Terrytoons, but thanks to this man, I wanna see more and more of this fucking crazy awesome animation master *_*

Thanks for informing me and honestly I don't recall either. Maybe gonna check it when I had more time to spare.

Many thanks for compiling this.
Tex Avery or Max Fleischer should have to contract this animator, his animations are perfect for a cartoon of them!!!
3:09 Some of the most decrepit/brilliant animation I've ever seen. His pupils blink. HIS FUCKING PUPILS BLINK.

that thumbnail...
Mr. J. Tyer !! BEST ACTION ANIMATOR EVER!! imoa
Jim Tyer worked at MGM, Fleischier and then studios like Terrytoons. Connie Rasinski's animation was like Tyer's but more sophisticated.
He also worked at Van Beuren.

WHy was Jim Tyer the craziest and the funniest animator that ever lived?
I see a lot of Ren & Stumpy in this.
i love this guy’s animation style, its so expressive and frenetic omg
for anyone interested, Tv Tropes has a page about him and i did a article about him on The Terrytoons wiki
Just discovered your channel today
Awesome to see you give respect to both Western and Eastern animators.
Ever thought of doing one on Tex Avery?
O estilo de animação desse cara me lembra um pouco o estilo de animação do John K.
Kind of reminds me of a kennedy cartoon..
In that case can you please do kennedy next..?

Someone who knows much about Mr. Tyer, please create a Wikipedia page for him.
He’s like the Rod Scribner of TerryToons
Come for the animation. Stayed for Parov Stelar
+An opinion on the internet Same.
Space Goofs (somewhat) used this type of style in the 2nd season.
Has he ever done _full_ episodes?
The Snuffy Smith TV series has several episodes with him as the sole animator.
He did all of the animation in all 5 shorts of an very underrated show called Stuffy Durma.
Full 20 episodes? No. 5 minute shorts? Yes, he did one episode of Milton the Monster (The Moon Goons), and he also did several episodes of the 1960's Felix The Cat
