That was one of the most informative golf videos that I've seen in a long time. I visualized which hole I was going to use which tee height on as you were demonstrating the shots.
Been teeing my ball up a little lower and I've never been more consistently accurate off the tee. I don't care if I'm sacrificing potential distance. I'll take more accuracy all day.
Another good tip and well presented. You mentioned the special offer on vice balls for the month of March. I appreciate the video was loaded 20 hours ago but we are now at 29th March so there is not a lot of March left to order them.
I always teed it high and let it fly. But just recently I got a new drive and fitting. Now my loft is 8 degrees and my tee height is a lot lower. Like u said a quarter inch above club head. What a difference.
Alex, if I saw the display correctly, it showed that your longest drive was the one from the lowest tee. I thought surely that the longest would be from a taller tee. I, myself, use a lower tee position on a martini-type tee. It's just easier to set the ball on the larger tee.
I use the low setting. I tried the high tee for years and get under it too often if I peek a little (my nemesis). That low tee setting seems to be the most consistent for me. Great vid. Thanks for taking the time.
I have 2 drivers the Cobra Radspeed at 9 degrees and the Wilson D9 at 13 degrees, if I use a level swing and don't swing up that Wilson is already 13 degrees with the Cobra I tee it up higher and swing up. The Cobra goes further but the Wilson is a fairway finder. I choose which to carry depending on the course I'm playing.
I use the four more yard tees...i didn't want the tee beating up my driver!!! And the 4 more yards tees and brush tees i feel are the easiest on my driver!
Wooden tees are proven to be the best, still. You really think a 5 gram piece of wood is going to "damage" metal, when you're hitting the golf ball at 90-100mph?
Purchased a new driver and started trying low in the middle of my stance. Gives me longer distance and better control. Lidia ko tees it low especially on windy days you can't see the ball from behind the driver
Interesting video! What caught my eye the most was that the low tee drive seemed to be closer to what people call optimal launch conditions, which they generally say is a little over 12 degrees and a little over 2000 spin. You were closest to both those numbers with the low tee!
I use whatever I jsut have available but in general tee up higher than half ball above for driver. I have the driver further aback from the tee and lifted up from the ground. If I have to hit into the wind, the lower teeing up option is my choice.
Thanks for this Alex, was going to ask about tee height because I sometimes find I hit the ball very high on the face, will give this a go and check if that solves my problem. I use the 4 yards more tees, they are the most durable tees on the market
I remember the old Callaway Burner driver (still have it). Tee the ball in the middle of the face. Used to be able to hit it a little shoulder high with about 230 yards carry and sometimes 60 yards of roll. Can't do it anymore btw
I use Stinger tees. Not the small-SMALL head ones but the head is pretty small. You can barely even see it, the ball is just sitting there perfectly, unobstructed. It's a mental thing.
I like a wooden/plastic tee with three marks on it, helps me set it to a consistent hight each time. The low tee hight is my standard..long and straight each time.
1/4 ball over the face on standard shots, even lower often for pinch cuts, the least often 1/2-3/4 ball over face if I really want to bomb a high draw but that’s only if I’m playing in a scramble or on a rare occasion. Distance has never been an issue so I’ll take the short grass all day.
I started doing this 2 years ago and teeing lower is the way. You may sacrifice a few yards from lower trajectory but your % of penalty strokes from towering high slices into the woods will go way down naturally lowering scores. Ill take a 240 -50 yard drive in the fairway all day than a 300 yard drop on the tree line rough .
I prefer a low tee height, I feel like I’m going to swing under the ball when it’s up high so I tend to hold back and try to control the swing more so it’s less natural. A low height less me swing away smoothly and more confident
Since Vice golf is a show sponsor, do you know anything about the changes at Vice ? The 5+1 is a great deal, but most of their balls are already sold out.
If you're hitting a lowered teed balled longer, its because you have a terrible driver swing. In fact, you just don't know how to hit up on the ball. You only know how to hit irons. In that case, sure hit down on it with a high loft drive. You'll play fine but you're missing a major weapon in not knowing how to hit a proper drive. Also, this test doesn't take into consideration optimal launch angle which is around 13 degrees. You wouldn't want a 16.5 launch angle. All you going to do is hit higher then will will further. You might as well put a 7 wood on a 3 inch tee and be surprised when you hit it 200 yards in the air and 50 yards down the field. A much more interesting test would be to see what your dispersion would be if you optimized loft and tee height. There's a reason why long drive guys hit a 1 to 2 degree driver on a 4" tee at 13 degree launch angle... 1700 spin which creates a low landing angle and a ton of roll.
@emptyt13 funny how you look up AOA and think you're informed. How many longball comps have you won? Didn't think so... crawl back into your eco chamber and cry.
I use the zero friction three spike tees, they are marked so you have a reference point of depth for consistency, and they are super hearty and you can use the same tee all round and put it back in the bag at the end of the round. And as for vice balls. I tried the pro and the pro +. Not a fan. Spin around the green was more than lacking. And was not impressed with the distance with driver or long irons. Gave away the other 3 sleeves.
The step tees are great for new players as the height is always consistent. I mark my own tees with heights of 35 and 40 mm, use the 35 mm for standard shots and 40 mm for boomers or even lower than 35 for stingers where I want to cut the ball away from trouble.
It would have been good to see where on the club face you made contact with the 3 different shots. I'm guessing for high handicappers (me included) that it's harder to make good face contact with the highest tee.
If you're going to be playing the Decade system, you're going to want to hit more fairways because this will allow you to hit more greens (all things equal). Of course, the odds of a gir improve as you get closer to the green. Let's say that the difference between your driver and your 3 wood is 30 yards. A 90 yard shot vs a 120 yard shot has different odds of hitting the green if they are both in the fairway. How different are your odds if your 90 yard shot is in the rough and your 120 yard shot is in the fairway? You need to be considering the probabilities of your alternatives as well as your risk/reward when you are hitting driver vs something less.
I have to keep it teed low because everytime I tee up high, I just don't seem to be able to adjust my swing to actually hit the high one. My Driver still goes low, and I end up either popping the ball straight up because I hit just under the ball, or I completely wiff hitting only the tee, and the ball falling to the ground where the tee was.
Zero Friction 3 prong. Pretty much every thing else I use snaps in one or two drives. Only time I change my ZF tees is when they fall out of my pocket and I lose them.
The tallest tee. Hit up 5-10 up . More ball speed , clubhead speed, and lower Spin . What was your numbers in launch as of how much up where you on the low , med , high tee ? I bet you where not close to 10 up ? You can't use a 10.0 loft on a high tee . You need 9 or lower , like 5 degree then your see the big differences . Loft is not your friend with high tees . I prefer high tees with low spin . 1700 to 2100 . Plus you are playing the ball to far forward for all three tee heights. lol
I tee my ball lower 100% of the time. I can just control it. Problem is i spin it more. 4000. Still in fairway with a draw though. Just doesn't go as far. I'll take 280 fairway though
It’s not so much the tee height as the swing that determines accuracy and distance. If you’re prone to slice, it won’t any difference what your tee height happens to be.
soooo, what you are saying, is maybe....lol Actually, good video, great channel. I'm plagued by overthinking on the golf course, so I really don't need something else to think about. keep up the great work.
Seeing as the driving range has those stupid rubber thing that you cant change, im probably best off using that height so i can practice the same as i play haha

Where was Tiger Woods’ mind blowing reveal? This has been around for quite some time…just like there is no perfect swing that everyone should emulate, there is no perfect tee height that is ideal for everyone…and, it may change from round to round too….I find some rounds I prefer a lower tee, some in the middle, some high, and other rounds I can play the tee any height and hit it well…need to figure that out on the range before your round….
*What tee height is going to become your got to after watching this? I bet you it changes*

I’ve kept to the low tee height. If I tee it higher I just sky it and damage my driver
That was one of the most informative golf videos that I've seen in a long time. I visualized which hole I was going to use which tee height on as you were demonstrating the shots.
Thank you Ronnel! I hope you enjoyed it too
Been teeing my ball up a little lower and I've never been more consistently accurate off the tee. I don't care if I'm sacrificing potential distance. I'll take more accuracy all day.
whoa whoa whoa... don't you know that long distance is the statistically only way to play!? strokes gained hurrrr durrrr
Another good tip and well presented. You mentioned the special offer on vice balls for the month of March. I appreciate the video was loaded 20 hours ago but we are now at 29th March so there is not a lot of March left to order them.
Would like to see corresponding carry and total distance for all three tee heights. Thanks.
I always teed it high and let it fly. But just recently I got a new drive and fitting. Now my loft is 8 degrees and my tee height is a lot lower. Like u said a quarter inch above club head. What a difference.

I use a white castle tee into the wind and pink castle tee in near still or wind behind 👍.

What was the distance for each launch angle? Yardage off target line?
I will try and cover this in a follow up video!
Thanks for this Alex, was going to ask about tee height because I sometimes find I hit the ball very high on the face, will give this a go and check if that solves my problem. I use the 4 yards more tees, they are the most durable tees on the market
Yeah find what works for you and stick with it, that’s what i do!
I remember the old Callaway Burner driver (still have it). Tee the ball in the middle of the face. Used to be able to hit it a little shoulder high with about 230 yards carry and sometimes 60 yards of roll. Can't do it anymore btw
Alex yours is amongst best TH-cam golf instructors.
Really appreciate that thank you
I use Stinger tees. Not the small-SMALL head ones but the head is pretty small. You can barely even see it, the ball is just sitting there perfectly, unobstructed. It's a mental thing.
Love that!! Do you have more confidence when you use them?
I like a wooden/plastic tee with three marks on it, helps me set it to a consistent hight each time. The low tee hight is my standard..long and straight each time.
This is a good point. You could use different levels of plastic tees to do the same thing
Can you put up your corresponding attack angles for each tee height please
What a great idea!! Keep your eyes on the channel!!
I try and use a high tee to draw and get distance, and low to fade the ball. But i guess it depends on your natural swing type 😊
I started doing this 2 years ago and teeing lower is the way. i’m not too sure about deals / stock sorry!
Low peg and hit a heel cut is always my go to on a narrow fairway.
where do i get those tees from? i keep losing tees at the range. Something big and visible might help

PGA tour disagrees. Most pros have a negative AOA with driver.
Do some research before spreading your uninformed opinion
@emptyt13 yes because it's easier to hit. They don't want to take the risk. Wow you're dumb
@emptyt13 funny how you look up AOA and think you're informed. How many longball comps have you won? Didn't think so... crawl back into your eco chamber and cry.

depends on swing path angle of attck and dynamic loft.

Where do you get them practice tees from ? Thanks
I have to say I’m not sure. But I will find out - they are just at the simulator I use
I always use the low tee height since I shortened my diver's shaft.....haven't missed a fairway since this was done.
Dont change your content. I find your videos well thought out and explained well.

What was the last tee distance?
I have to keep it teed low because everytime I tee up high, I just don't seem to be able to adjust my swing to actually hit the high one. My Driver still goes low, and I end up either popping the ball straight up because I hit just under the ball, or I completely wiff hitting only the tee, and the ball falling to the ground where the tee was.
Alex, where can i buy those tees?

Surely the middle tee option is redundant. Tee it down for narrower holes where accuracy is key and tee up for longer/ more forgiving holes?
Yeah probably !
I have been teeing my ball at the lowest. this helps me hit with the center of the face. Any higher and I go to the moon.
Zero Friction 3 prong. Pretty much every thing else I use snaps in one or two drives. Only time I change my ZF tees is when they fall out of my pocket and I lose them.
Where can I get those tees ??????.

Martini T peg. just slam it in the ground and it always sets it up the same height!
I like the Tour Tee Pro's.
Ill try a bit lower tomorrow.
Do you change the location of the ball in your stance for each tee height?
I move it slightly back on the lowest tee peg
The tallest tee. Hit up 5-10 up . More ball speed , clubhead speed, and lower Spin . What was your numbers in launch as of how much up where you on the low , med , high tee ?
I bet you where not close to 10 up ? You can't use a 10.0 loft on a high tee . You need 9 or lower , like 5 degree then your see the big differences . Loft is not your friend with high tees .
I prefer high tees with low spin . 1700 to 2100 . Plus you are playing the ball to far forward for all three tee heights. lol
Gotta change the software to driver so we can see total distance. It'll stop when you hit brush
set your tee so approximately 1/2 of the ball is above the drivers head! Most consistent contact & ball flight for the average golfers!
I have tee’d low for 30 yrs. I also see a whole lotta dented drivers in the very near future with ppl trying to tee it so high.
Great advice😅
Glad it was helpful!
Missing Angle of Attack. This would be very helpful for all of us.
this tip is dropping on sunday
I tee my ball lower 100% of the time. I can just control it. Problem is i spin it more. 4000. Still in fairway with a draw though. Just doesn't go as far. I'll take 280 fairway though
All three distances please.
I wish Tiger was my dad...And I too run my tee height at about a 1/4 most of the time, a super tee'd up ball kind of freaks me out.
Chi Chi would beg to differ.
Do you change your ball position with the different tee high?
No keep the same please !
It’s not so much the tee height as the swing that determines accuracy and distance. If you’re prone to slice, it won’t any difference what your tee height happens to be.
Tiger says he hits down on the ball with the driver. Many do. I do as well.
Yeah! I do for sure ok the lower peg!
Bro, you said in one of the first videos I watched, 1/2 a ball over driver. Respect you more if you said, I was wrong
I always tee my driver low, and rarely ever miss a fairway. Most pros also tee it low. Watch for it next time.
Short tee for me, helps me find the centre of the face vertically, horizontally is a whole other story 🤣
Golf simulator tees. Don't know how they would set up outside.
I would have thought that the ball is positioned further forward in your stance with a higher tee height.
Me too, otherwise the hoop example makes no sense..
@@markparker5585 Same here. I am confused as hell from this video, as ball position and stance is never mentioned.
i tee my ball up half of ball up to tee. Show half is above tee
That last tee is a new driver for me I’m a lowest to second 🤦🏻♂️🤣
