Back to the Andes: Season 4 Premiere! (S4:E1)

- In our "less-than-epic" Season 4 opener, we fail at a gear review, can't seem to figure out our new electronics, and crash almost immediately. A triple-header FAIL right out of the gate.
Remember, don't try this at home. We are professionals!

So glad my favorite adventure couple are back at it. One of the things I love most about your videos is you take the time to explore these out of the way places most people just race through or outright skip. Some channels spend more time showing the inside of their tent than the country they are supposedly exploring.
Bwaa ha ha... The inside of their tent? Now I'm curious which channels you watch! 😅
Thanks so much! When you have the time to take, it's nice to take the time. Unfortunately, that's not always the case. The main reason I hate traveling on a timeline!!
L O V E D I T !!!! Just GREAT to have videos to look forward to again! Well Done all the way around👏😎Thanks for doing what you do
Thank you, sir! We always appreciate the support! 🍻
Good to see you back on the tracks! Safe travels!
Thanks! 🍻
Loving the videos!! Stunning vistas and gnarly roads!
Looking forward to the rest of the series 😊
Thanks, glad you're enjoying it! 🍻
What an intro!
Ha ha ha... pretty "epic," eh? 🫤
Great start to season 4, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! 🍻
Woohoo.... another brilliant season coming up!! 😀✌ (missed you guys 🤗)
Thanks, we missed you too! 🍻
Excellent video, thanks for sharing. Stunning country.electronics is a pain wherever you are, especially new cars.
Thank you!! They're especially a pain when you don't read instructions and just start randomly pushing buttons, like I do... 😅
Woo hoo! Glad you are back. Peru is my favorite of all countries.
We're back! As far as riding, Peru is Chad's current favorite as well. Rose is partial to Chile, but I won't hold that against her... 😉
OMG we are going on another ride!! Looking forward to it.
We're back, baby! 🤘
Welcome back guys!
And I'm with Chad on this one: I'm more interested in what you see and experience. That's what makes you special.
Thank you - it's good to be back! 🍻
Good to see you back. How do you plan your route- you always find these off the beaten track gems ...
Hard to say, really. Sometimes it's just a matter of studying the map or satellite images looking for something interesting. Other times, it's a tip from local riders or friends that have been through the area. More often than not though, we're just wandering around lost with nothing more than a general direction in mind...
We ended up taking a 7,000km detour through the heart of the Amazon on a hunch... it turned out to be the highlight of the entire trip!
Yahoo! They're back! Made my day!
Awww.... thanks! 🤭
Glad to see my two favorite explorers back on the road. Also glad to see that the sponsors are finally showering you with merchandise (unless you had to actually buy it). Chad, hanks for staying authentic by NOT doing a gear review. There is a thousand of them out there. BTW, I listened to you on ADV Radio, so cool ! Keep the rubber side down.
It's good to be back!! We were lucky to have some very generous sponsors outfit us with some new gear to destroy. Thankfully, they didn't ask for it back! 😁
I tried to do the whole gear review thing, but I just couldn't... at the end of the day, I can't expect somebody to want to watch something that I didn't want to make in the first place... 🫤
Love the continuity, maps and road names so I can follow along. Hoping to ride South America someday and your videos will be a great asset.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm a map geek, so it's fun to make those maps! Hopefully, they come in handy! 💪
I love the anti-hero approach, including the subliminal thumbnail! Great start the new season. Good to have you back!
Thank you!! 💪 Glad you caught the "not so subliminal" thumbnail... 😁
A very nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon
Good to see you both again
We're glad you joined us. Drop a line one of these days... 😉
This channel is "real" off-road riding.....the places those stickers have been!! Primo...👌
Well, it's about as real as I can get 2up on an 800lb bike, anyway!! 😁
Stinkin' cameras!! 😂 New kit, new adventures. Stoked to see what you two got in store this season.
Hopefully, we'll get the cameras sorted out so we can actually show you!! 😅
Glad to see you back on the road again. Take care
Thank you! It's good to be back!!!
Am glad to have you back in Peru! Always interesting sights you find, and interesting people you meet.
So many out of the way amazing places in Peru!!
Rose has a new red helmet with tinted visor 😍😆😆 Beautiful scenery, well worth the effort of sitting in my armchair for 20 minutes watching the video 😄😄
On a more cereal note, welcome back 😊
Thank you! It's good to be back!! Yup, Rose's new (old) Shoei finally got the love it deserves!
Woo-Hoo, new season🎉 Besides possibly being injured in the middle of nowhere, it would not be fun picking up a loaded ADV too many times at 15,000+ ft. elevation. Nice work!😁
Truth told, it sucks to pick up at sea level too!! 😅
Great to see my favourite motorcycle travel couple back !!!
Fantastic scenery .... REAL motorcycling... much better than listening to a TH-camr review a pair of gloves...lol
Vivid colours in the garage and some of the buildings ..
"All right...got that out of the way" ...Aye they all get dropped at some time !!!
OMG...somebody suggested removing body armour ...I wonder who that could be....lol 😉😉
Take care ..stay safe !!!
Thank you! It's good to be back! 😁 Yeah, we will happily stay in our lane and leave the reviews to the "experts"...
Beautiful, thanks for taking us along 👍
Our pleasure!
Good efforts, nice sharing 👍🤗🍁🏡
Thank you for watching! 🙏
Fantastic new season opening! Wishes for great upcoming adventures 💪💪💪
Thanks a ton! 💪
Cool. I like it.
Glad you do! 🍻
Awesome video, safe travels
Thanks!! 🍻
nice to see you again....I like your comment about the equipment, I wear what I want and how I want 👌💪
Thanks - welcome back to the channel! I appreciate the occasional review, but don't think I should be the reviewer... 😀
some great roads on this one!
Just wait. The good stuff is yet to come!
You guys have been missed!
And we've missed you! 🍻
Glad to see you back. So what need to be done with your bike after DHL fiasco. I thought you ship to US, how did it get here
The front brake discs add ABS ring were damage to need to be replaced. We rode the bike back to Los Angeles from Panama. Season 4 begins back in Peru, before the DHL debacle! 🍻
Thrilled to see you both back in the business 👏👏
Thank you! It's good to be back!
so nice to see you on the road again 😍 after the incredible story with the lost motorcycle. you awaken an incredible longing for my upcoming adventures in the Andes in December
Thank you!! You've got some incredible riding in store! 💪
So nice to see you guys on the road again. I think this was a great start, and like Chad said you got the first spill out of the way. There is only one thing missing on this premier: cemetery visit.😊 Safe travels.
Ha ha... thank you! No cemeteries, but in Episode 2, we explore the underground tunnels of the Andean Underworld! 😬
Hello Chad & Rose, old DHL fans 😂, great video again and what a nice area you're showing here. We start our trip this week starting in Bogota Colombia . think we got the same passion: Africa Twin, No stress and enjoy. Greetings Marco & Ilse
Very cool - you've got some incredible riding ahead! Be sure to get lost as much as possible!! 💪🍻
Great video!
Watching you struggle with your gizmos makes me feel good.
Not only do I enjoy your frustration, but it also makes me feel better about my own technological shortcomings.😂
Still, a Chad gear review would be mondo fun, but then I never get everything I want.
Thanks again,and stay awesome!
Ha ha ha... I'm not prone to reading instructions, so I bring it on myself... Thank God for TH-cam tutorials!! 😅
As for the reviews... I tried, I really did. But at the end of the day, I just didn't enjoy it. I'm not going to force it... I think that comes across in the video. I can't expect somebody to want to watch something that I didn't want to make in the first place. 🥴
Thanks as always for the kind words & support!! 💪
I watch your vids for the same reason I watch auto racing. The wipeouts, you never disappoint.
Ummm, thanks... I guess... 🤔
I am ready to see this part of the world I'll never get to visit.
It's such an amazing part of the world to explore! Stay tuned - plenty of good stuff to come! 💪
I watched a bullfight in Ecuador in 1973- it really disgusted me when the matadors couldn't kill the bull. It was running around, bellowing and bleeding and everyone-even ancient Grandmas sitting near me, where screaming with excitement! Naw, never again for this cowboy. Incredible geology and sketchy roads. You have me hooked! Safe travels.
Thanks so much!! Apparently, from what we've been told, the bull fighters in Peru don't actually kill or harm the bull. They just taunt it and try not to get gored in the process.
Had I known, I would have been much more inclined to watch. Definitely not interested in a traditional bullfight, though... 😑
Finalmente🎉 Bentornati ragazzi🎉🎉🎉
Thank you, good to be back! 🍻
Looking forward to follow a new season from you. I live in Norway and am waiting for spring! I own a 2017 Africa twin myself. I’d like to hear some words about yours is holding up!
That generation of AT is the best! 💪 Ours is great... aside from beating up the suspension, brakes & clutch because of our massive load and riding style, we've had very few mechanical issues. The front windscreen bracket is prone to cracking, which you probably already know, and I think I'm due to replace my stator... but aside from that, nothing... We're at just over 100k km
Glad to see you are back in Peru. I'm following your travels and marking my maps as to your routes and stops for trip I will begin next fall. Since it looks like you're there at the perfect time of the year could you tell me what month? I'm guessing September.
Thank you!!! Yes, this was early - mid September...
Thanks for sharing your adventures, why do you choose aluminum box instead of soft bags like for example lone rider, watching from Portugal 🇵🇹👍✌️..
Thanks for watching! The aluminum boxes provide a better base for the softbags we run on top. Once Rose is on her own bike, we'll both be running soft bags again. 💪
What a way to start a season… epic roads.
What’s with Rose’s new helmet? Now people know who daft punk was He he he
Ha ha... I found her playing a set next to the trash fence! 😁
Is that a new drone?!…boy that view of the Torres would’ve been great with some drone shots!
Yup... the DJI mini 3 pro (or something like that)... 😁
I also enjoy watching it in Seoul, South Korea.
I would appreciate it if you could add subtitles in Korean as well.
Sounds good! Moving forward, we will!! 💪
Igual resbalé en una u subiendo de pasquín a las torres, todo bonito
Thanks so much! 🍻
Welcome Back Guys🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you!! 🖤
Damn guys, it’s about time you guys were back, I missed you both. As far as product reviews, as my dad use to say, opinions are like ass holes, everybody has one, glad that your back on the road, gotta ask, so did you keep your bike locked up down there while u we’re back in the states, how much longer will you continue to stay down there before you tour elsewhere, although I never grow tired of where u are, probably wouldn’t ever leave there myself. Anyway as always I enjoy your travels, both of you, take care and hang in there, Rob in Ala.
Thanks for the warm welcome, Rob! Glad you're still along for the ride. 💪
We left the moto at El Camino Moto Garage, who rebuilt our rear suspension and tuned it up for us while we were gone. Most decent moto shops or even dealers are willing to store your bike for a while if you're having work done.
We've done this a few times without issue! 💪
Sorry, had to ask: What size and make of the front rotors. It looks like you went to a larger rotor. Thanks!
They're Arashi DBS110W
Hey. Thanks. Love your videos and Rose's narratives! Continue to enjoy adventure!
please get rid of the hard panniers before you break your legs.
I busted my foot under one in Bolivia... it wasn't much fun... 😒 Luckily, we survived, and now that Rose will be graduating to her own bike, I may have soft soft bags in my future... 😁
Did you get your bike
From DHL in Panama? We sure did, it only took us a month!! 🤬
The 1970's Ventura Highway song nicely captures aspects of these travels of which camera rolling shutter distortion (jello effect, Spatial aliasing.) somewhat unfortunately detracts- but not the narrative (cogent third person narration) or journey in itself- primarily when capturing landscape scenes. Therefore, hope a camera firm will chip in for an upgrade in a dedicated film kit so to future proof (trendy term) the journey if it goes trans continental like to India.
Thank you for watching! If you know anyone who works at DJI, please feel free to pass our information along! 😁
A couple of new action cameras would certainly come in handy!!
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets The film trilemma : if fast (go fast) and cheap (cheap camera) then bad (jello); if cheap and good (no jello) then slow (stop and pan); if good and fast then expensive (full frame film camera and anamorphic lens and audio 32bit float to capture bike sound and more). Pick any two as in fast and cheap or cheap and good or fast and good. I can’t recommend a choice but whatever it is, enjoy the ride and filming too.
@italogiardina8183 the impossible triangle... 🔺️
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets Indeed, hence limited options if all are true individually but impossible to realise collectively BUT you have a comparative advantage over a solo rider in that the camera can be detached from rider and bike, so the passenger could use a steady camera system (budget DJI pocket 3 with gimbal) and film landscape so gaining high quality footage like the escape scene in THE REVERENT movie. Sourced from which seems you know en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trilemma
What is that 🍆 like luck charm tied to your crashbar lol 😂
Good to see you back folks!
Ride safe! ✌🏻
Thanks, it's good to be back! That's Chad's pink unicorn... he's had that thing zip tied on a number of different bikes over the years. 😅
Less than 2 minutes in and the bike is already eating dirt. Might have to keep a counter on the drops? Reviews are boring. Adventure is the stuff.
Lost count years ago (when I ran out of fingers and toes)!
Hi guys...we missed you.
We missed you too!! 🍻
