    I ride a slingshot wingcraft v2 105, before that a quatro v1 105 and when in steady wind (la ventana) i use 85 liter naish carbon hover which is a few years old.. I weigh approx 200lbs.. My biggest issue is getting on foil in lighter winds.. I use the 105 because its enough to slog back on when wind really dies in alaska. How much of a difference specifically in getting up in lower winds does the new FG make? What size would you recommend for 200lb intermediate foiler.. i can stay on foil for a good amount of time (45 mins) if i am not trying new things.. starting to tack fairly successfully heelside and toeside.. Main reason i don't like trying things is i need enough wind to be guaranteed to get back up without a crazy amount of impact on my shoulders. Also looking forward to your on the water review and really appreciate all of the videos you make.. Thanks!

      It sounds like the 105L is a volume that you are comfortable for security. This is very common to have more volume so you can taxi or get home when the sessions doesn't turn out as planned. I would recommend going with the Wing FG 105L to have the volume you are comfortable with, and you will notice much earlier take off in light or powered conditions, as well as significantly more performance. The performance increase is due to an advanced shape, a much lighter board and significantly better construction.

    Great! Thank you Matt!
    it seems as if the foil box has been moved back a bit! Correctly? Why?

      Boxes are still the Forward Geometry so they are farther forward. Since the board is shorter per volume the back of the track does come closer to the tail. I have found that with stock Axis fuse I ride most of their wings between 0-2 on the new Wing FG. For the advanced fuse I am riding their foils in the 3-4 range. Armstrong foils I ride between 6.5-7.5.

    great new board, but I did not see a bottom finger hole, I know that the old board had a hole that went all the way through the board

      Good eyes. The small boards have no handle as you don't need it. They are so narrow you can grab the rail like a surfboard or mast. The bigger boards have a handle just on the bottom. With the flatter deck, you don't need the through hull handle to drain the deck like you did on the Wing Sup FG.

    Is Armstrong giving up on the prone boards line? I haven’t heard of them planning on any new designs.

    • @REALmattnuzzo
      @REALmattnuzzo 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are deep in development on prone. No timeline for release but they are working on quite a few new board shapes.

    Matt, have you guys tested the 40L in comparison the 39L prone board for winging? Debating between 40 or 48 for myself.

    • @REALmattnuzzo
      @REALmattnuzzo 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We haven't tried the 39L FG Wing Surf back to back against the 40L Wing FG yet but I can tell you that the 40L Wing FG is mind blowing. The new 40L is really responsive, gets going easier than the Wing Surf for sure and will be more responsive. The 40L vs the 48L..... I love the 40L but the 48L is a touch more reliable for me for all wind conditions at 170LBS.

      @@REALmattnuzzoHey Matt, I’m in the same predicament except I’m 150lbs - how reliable in all wind conditions for me would you guess the 40L to be ? Whats the lightest breeze limit you think you could take the 40L to?

    Nice contribution, thank you very much.
    I'm looking forward to the water reports. If possible can you look at the stability of the smaller ones, so 70l with virtually no wind, because on our lakes here it's sometimes all or nothing...
    Are the new boards also thicker? if they are smaller and shorter, where do they get the volume from if not thicker? How does it feel, still the same direct connection with the foil?
    Thank you very much :)

      Yeah there is some sort of voodoo going on with the volume distribution of the new Wing FG. Not sure where he packs the foam but he does. We found for on water stability from old to new board per volume is very similar. The new Wing FG since it is narrower and has a more vertical chine is less effected by the chop while kneeling on the water. Particularly in the 48-80L size range that are partially under water. The on foil stability is also more stable and has more control per volume. Not sure how he did that. Our recommendation is that you should ride the volume you are comfortable getting up on. The new Wing FG will take off from the water faster, and it will have more performance while on foil.
      For your info here are the dims to compare the two boards. Previous version Wing Sup FG 5'2.5" x 26" x 4.5" Vol:75L. New Wing FG 5'0" x 22" x 4.5" Vol:70L. The new one has a few less liters of volume, 2.5" shorter, 4" narrower(!!!!) and it is the same thickness.

    Really nice shape and is very close to my custom homemade boards, but you can't change the laws of physics. With a more compact outline, the board is going to be thicker which results in a less direct feel from the foil. Choose your poison!
