Havent played Fallout 4 in years. Been waiting patiently for the next gen update before I start a new game. Could be waiting the rest of my life at this rate...
Same bro. I bought the game when it came out on PC, but I no longer have access to my gaming PC. Been waiting for the PS5 upgrade so I can play through it again. I tried the PS4 version but I can't play it at 30fps.
I was going to do this but I got tired of waiting lol

Next Gen Update is sitting on Todd's computer.
Likely it is being prepared for the Fallout S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Anthology and the Fallout TV show releasing on the same day. Bethesda really needs to give us a release date trailer or something to just give us something.
EDIT: I must be insanely lucky with Fallout 4 because I have never had crashes like a lot of people have.
I got a lot of crashes on the original Xbox One, but fewer on the One X. Then once I played on PC, crashes were extremely rare. And the only time I seemed to get them on PC were when I had a mod conflict.

The update got delayed because of Starfield. When the update was first announced the plan was to release Starfield early in 2023 which would free up developers to work on the update and release it later the same year. However, as Starfield hit more and more roadblocks and got delayed again the Fallout update had to be pushed back as well. Pete Hines all but straight up confirmed that everyone was "all hands on deck" for Starfield on Twitter last August when people were asking him about it. Considering how Starfields launch went they probably didn't even start working on the update before this year, if they have started at all.
That would make a lot of sense.

tbf, every update bethesda dropped has been a surprise shadow update that breaks mods. Look at Skyrim and the old fallouts like FNV/F3. Even F4's updates that literally broke nearly every mod with the intention of fixing nothing and updating the creation club were sudden.
I think with how long this update has been in the works it's going to be a special edition and then you buy it separately. Then it won't break mods for the old version.
I bet the people at Bethesda all sit around a table and ask each other what’s the best way to make their fans turn they backs on them

Biggest is lack of communication, or they announce something and then don't follow up or follow through. I wonder how many comments which equals pressure, before they finally started communicating about the plan with Starfield. It's like pulling teeth to get BGS to say anything.
I hope they do fix ever problem with the game that myself and every one else has pointed out over the years and that with this new update we get new content, mostly for creation club since I for one don't really trust mode since they are the main reason why my game crashes all the time. Well lets just hope Bethesda keeps there word for once.
Yeah, I’m worried about this update people are saying is coming out when the TV show does but I don’t believe that. I could be wrong though.
At this point a Next-Gen update could be a gift and a curse but I'm tired of waiting.

Fr, I never experienced it before until recently where it wouldn’t let me save.. then I found out it’s most likely due to having too much creation content installed… content that I’ve either gotten for free or PAID for that it’s now telling me I can’t use… so I had to delete a few just so I won’t get those annoying pop ups.
I play Fo4 almost daily without any crash, i activated the debris option in advanced graphics, and the game started to crash, turned it off and issue solved...
I play fallout 4 on the series s and I've only crashed a few times in the big city but overall it runs smoothly. If we don't get the next gen update anytime soon I will just keep playing this version.
It's not even the update i care about anymore, it's the lack of communication that's driving me away from this company

Very cringe that this game that has been broken by the creation club feature itself has been unplayable this long. And I can say it is very much still broken given that I started up a playthrough recently no mods just base game and dlc with no creation club content installed and still crashed every time I went into Boston. The only way for me to not have it crash in Boston is to literally kill my wifi.
Nice theory but bethesda has done surprise drops in the past and proven they don't care about the mods they don't make money from. I'm still convinced it will be dropped at the end of the first episode after a special announcement from Todd or something.
Fallout 4 for me was the most absolute buggiest game in my time as a gamer. I could not leave the vault without crashing. I just gave up so I’m my mind fallout 4 is their worst game. At least with 76 I could actually play with friends lol

What platform are you playing? I got the platinum trophy and had probably less than 10 crashes on PS4/PS5. Still run into bugs, but nothing too bad. I'm still looking forward to an update, just to have my favourite Fallout game get even better.

Can’t even get fallout 4 working on my computer (dual graphics cards, don’t even get me started) however I play it on my series X, and honestly, I think it would be best left alone on that system… can hit 60 fps 1080p without mods, and mods can bring that up to 4K. Crashes only occasionally, once every few hours, and honestly the mod selection seems to be better on Xbox… a lot of cool stuff still on there which I notice is missing now days from the PC store.
Very playable on the series x and many of the mods, including a heap of weapon mods, are amazing and can change the whole feel of the game in a positive way. Personally I’ve set my load order up just how I want it, and I plan to leave the game in offline mode if and when the update drops, (unless I hear reviews that it’s amazing but honestly, it’s bathesda, so I highly doubt it)
Granted, they’re brilliant world builders, and the game has a great framework in place, however it’s the mods for me which bring it to the next level and keep me coming back. I’d take my load order not getting screwed up over what will probably be a gimmicky update that looks a little nicer any day.
Understandable in regard to PC version however, as I said, I can’t even get it to work on my current computer. But I really like the series x version the way it is…
And while I’m happy with my load order as it is, it upsets me that I won’t be able to download any new ones without a heap prob breaking, where the authors decide not to update :(
There is one way they could be doing this that would allow them to do a rapid release: they could release it as a new edition free to people who own the game. That way people could download the new edition or stick with the old and modders will have plenty of time to modify things for the new edition.
Yeah, I got Skyrim SE free because I already owned LE. It's possible. I don't know if modern Bethesda is that generous anymore. I guess we'll see!
I've been holding off doing a new playthrough on this for almost a year now waitifor the superior (lol) version of the game. 30fps just doesn't do it for me as even Fallout76 has 60fps! Hope this arrives at minimum 1440 60fps and some new content. Maybe some weapons from 76 being brought over too.

At this point I don't care anymore. After the broken skyrim creations update on xbox, I know the same will happen to fallout4. Come this Friday I will be playing dragons dogma2 for the next 5-10 years.
Fallout 4 is one of my least favorite fallout games in the franchise but I still enjoy it. I just want to boot it up from time to time to recapture that 2015 hype nostalgia I used to have. It's just unacceptable that it's been mistreated this long and the issue never gets enough attention.I think at this point Bethesda fans have gotten used to holding Bethesda to pretty low standards but at least their are people like you making videos to hold them accountable.

I’m waiting to do a new playthrough for this update because currently my old version of Fallout 4 is heavily bugged and the DLCs won’t download and even my latest character can’t even leave Vault 111 and this is on the Xbox series X!
It's been a frustrating wait but I already have it downloaded on my Series X ready to go for my first survival run through. I don't want to make the same mistake I made on the Witcher 3 and get halfway through my third playthrough and then the next gen version come out.
It'll be worth the wait. My introduction to FO4 about 5 years after it released was with survival mode & it was one of the best gaming experiences of my life. Boston & the surrounding area is an incredible place to explore & to civilise!
If I start playing now, when the update is released I will be forced to start a new Game if I want to play with the patch features? I cant play in the same save?

@@MrERS27 Next-gen versions of games is like a different copy/game and your last-gen saves is not transferable in some cases. The only game capable I can think of is God of War Ragnarok
As a Series S owner, I'm both excited and a little nervious for this update. As it stands now, I can play FO4 with FPS boost and it largely holds to the 60 FPS target except in heavy effects areas. My concern is the update will get the same downgrade the PS4 Pro version got, which was improved graphics at the expense of framerate (I own the PS4 Pro version as well and can confirm the framerate was less stable after the resolution boost).
Fallout 4 Next Gen update will come, for instance, the Prydwen, T-60 power armor, and that god forsaken assault rifle are in the TV show, god forbid if Fallout 76 gets the update and not Fallout 4. May that strike subside forever and make some progress by living up to your words with the update Bethesda.

I have been looking at the dechirico branch of steamdb for 3 months and there have been entries every day, yes, even on the weekends, there was a break of a few weeks or days (I don't remember well) during the TGA and then entries every day since then .
I have also seen on Twitter that Bethesda announced a nuka cola t-51 figure and the Bethesda Gear channel has announced a blanket of dogmeat not to mention that the Bethesda Games Studios channel has written a tweet about an incredible mod for fallout 4, you make tons of reference to fallout 4, but nothing about the next gen patch is surreal...
Upcoming anthology release in April (11th for Australia), makes sense to release the updated version of the game along with the pack.

Just don't let the game auto update on steam and just keep your current mod list working. Play offline.
I still have a little hope that it will release near the premiere of the show, i mean not even Bethesda can be incompetent enough not to take advantage of that opportunity, can they...? (of course they can and most likely will)

It's probably more likely they don't want to put a firm date on it & then have to delay because they're still doing patches.

Trust me, everyone wants to get the thing out the door on time, they want it to work first time for every end user, they want people to be happy. These are basic commonalities shared by all businesses.
Starfield is light years ahead in terms of writing depth & quality than any previous Bethesda game. If the game wasn't for you, take an L & move on. What else can be said?

The writing is more boring compared to Fallout 4 and Skyrim even, and don't get started on the milk toast companions of Starfield. Stop defending lazy ineptitude. So, you know I know what it is like to be a part of a team with multiple moving parts as I served in the US Navy where each team member needs to know their job to get the project we are working on done on time in a safe manner as it is easy to get injured in technical fields if you are incompentent. That is one of the issues with current day anything a lack of high standards.

The characters seem real & their stories unfold & interact naturally with the world around them. I went on the Starsap guided tour of New Homestead with Barrett yesterday & there was a real treat at the end.
I've read a few Heinlein novels & a bit of Asimov, & one or two others. There are excerpts from classic sci-fi novels scattered throughout starfield. It's a great touch & shows they looked for inspiration in all the right places when concepting the game.
All that chat about ineptitude or laziness is your personal opinion, which you are perfectly entitled to, but i do not share.

Bottom line for me with any of these type of convos is; not every game is for every player.
patience my dude they obviously want to make sure the next gen update has no bugs, glitches, performance problems, creations, mod support, simple i know its frustrating but give them time they're trying there best besides not everyone is perfect especially with everything else going on with bethesda

i have 0 fo4 crash issues, try to not use the fo4 unofficial patch. It was causing many crashes for me
The situation is actually a bit more complicated then it seems. I understand you would like for us to have more communication with y'all, however for me and my team it's not as simple due to the high-ups not allowing us for NDA reasons and more.
I don't even think a "next gen update" would bring me back to FO4 now that we have starfield.
Don't get me wrong, FO4 was/is an amazing game. Rebuilding the commonwealth one settlement at a time was an unforgettable experience in gaming for me. I barely even scratched the surface of any of the DLCs.
But i lost my save, & the thought of rebuilding everything is almost unbearable.
It will live on in my memories!

I’m guessing the next gen update is so minor that it’s basically just an afterthought for Bethesda and that’s why they’re not talking about it.
