Fordson Industrial Major Project Overview

An overview of my next Fordson project, an Industral front end loader based on a Fordson Power Major. Casting codes have it built in June 1966.

Interesting piece of history. I would check the casting codes again. The Majors finished in the UK in 1964. Ebro continued to make the Major in Spain for some years afterwards. The tank looks like a Power Major and on as it has a flattened area near the steering wheel where gauges would be mounted. The lower dash fits with that era.

V unusual to see a petrol major

Lose the petrol and pop in a mechanical governor Fordson altho the 40 or 60hp vacuum governor engines are just as smooth.

If the casting codes are right, that means it was built 2 years after the super major went out of production.. thats rather unusual 🤔

I agree, it's a bit of a head scratcher, I'm starting to think it's been made up of different tractors.

@@fixingfordsonsaustralia6632 Ford stopped offering the petrol version before the Power Major was introduced, which would make this a earlier Major

Hi mate I have one similar to yours but mine is a super major. I want to fix the steering up on mine is to hard to steer. Can you buy parts in Australia for the industrial ones? And is it easy to fix up? Mine has a hydraulic steering pump and a ram.

The steering assembly was the same as non industrial tractors, however the front axle was a Moore Engineering build and not standard. Hydraulic assist kits are still available if thats what you require.
