    2:35 .. you DO want it to get hot to open the thermostat AND run the heater blower to flush out the old coolant in the heater core near the glove box

    Thank you for making this video. I'm doing my flush today. I will use the Prestone Flushing Kit as it seems to make this flush and future ones easier. I'll write this in my car's manual showing the date and the products I used. When doing an engine flush, it's also an excellent time for inspecting the hoses.

    will be doing my Heater Core flush next week using same 3 days driving process and Prestone radiator cleaner. Will change the in and out hoses to the heater core to make water flow into opposite direction as well !!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for the video

      Yes it's good and I do that sometimes, but showing that for someone who never did that before, if a small rock states in, they will have a problem, so better to use cleaner and be safe

    In the e-tec 2 16v engine you fill the radiator through the reservoir? I usually fill the system through the radiator cap. + It seems like you use very little water and coolant.
    My car has a capacity of 14l

    What about the flush/cleaner/water mixture that remained on the other side of the thermostat? Do you consider that negligible contamination?

      if u want to make distilled water, just boil a water and condensate the vapor

    I had to laugh when you drained the fluid and tried to get it in the drip pan. Most of it ran down the street. Good job showing the process. I only have two gallons of distilled water so I’m going to use regular water, but my final rinse will be with distilled.

    Did you not bother draining the radiator petcock? Or the coolant bolt on engine block? If not you did not completely flush the system. You got maybe 80% of coolant & your flushing 4 times but you still have old coolant that didn't come out.

    Another question: when you add the Prestone before driving the car 3 days, how to make sure that 1 bottle is a sufficient amount of fluid? Check with the manual how much coolant the car requires?

    hey how much driving is required per day, if you don't mind me asking. there was another video where someone mentioned having to drive for 300 miles, is this accurate? do I need to put 300 miles on the vehicle for a clean?

      Yes its 300 miles, but mine was about 300 miles, 260 I think

      I would clean it with the old one, so the block & heater core don't deposit any scale/sediment in the new radiator.

    So instead of rocks and sand mixture, why not use rice? We use it when cleaning vases and other containers with too small of a neck to clean

    Is Prestone a good radiator cleaner? It seems stronger than the Liquid-Moly radiator cleaner.

    I heard that you're only suppose to keep the cleaner for a max of 4hours in your engine or it can damage it.
    people seem to leave it for days tho until they hit about 100mi or so. Is this safe and more effective?
    I'm talking about the newer version of the prestone cleaner: prestone total cooling system cleaner.

      @@freedompioneer4311 yeah, I found that kinda excessive as well and possibly detrimental to an engine too.
      Perhaps they meant to say that they ran the cleaner with water for 100mi in one go to clean the engine good?
      The instructions say to run it 15-20mi at idle around 2krpm

    Is it possible (reliable) to test the pH value of the old coolant then pH value below or near 7 as a sign to replace coolant?

      Yes there is a device that measures ph levels, but whenever I see the coolant changed color, I flush it

    Tap water stays working in my car for five years, I use filter water to strain out the manmade bleach which causes corrosion. the hot air that comes running out of my vent is 140 degrees

      Distilled water necessary, because some of it will stays in the engine and get mixed with the coolant, if its water, it will corrosion the engine in the long run

    So after draining the distilled water you add the 22 oz bottle of Prestone Flush Cleaner alone for 3 days? Or do you also add distilled water to fill up the system? You didn’t say. I want to do this right. I don’t want my car to overheat 🥴

      it worked good for cleaning, but you can just use desilted water if you dont see gunk or any dirt inside the radiator

      Yes, flushing for 10 minutes, run the engine and flush it again and then fill it up with radiator coolant

      Yes, thats a great idea, but try to mix it with new coolant, so you can see the color changing difference

    Why flush with distilled water each time? Why not save money by flushing the first three times with tap water and only flush with distilled water on the fourth flush?
