Thanks for taking time out to produce this video as your experiment was very insightful. Based upon what I've seen here, the Google Pixel 8 pro hardware seemd to be a solid phone. I honestly thought that the chrome camera visor would have got more scuffed but it did okay 👍
Its been just two weeks since my 7 pro fell out of my pocket while I was squatting. Barely 20 cm drop. Two corners shattered and spiderwebs all over. They must've done something incredible this year
I dropped my pixel 6pro several times. A few face down and I thought for sure it's cracked. But so far it doesn't have a single crack. My wife has a S20 ultra 5g ,she has replaced her screen twice so far.

I'm actually an Xperia 1V user but last month someone took it off my hands and ran so I had to get used to my Pixel 2 XL with a smashed screen for the entire month but fortunately everything still works
The only problem with Google is they never seem to interested to bring this devices to more countries. Yes, i can buy from 3rd party online sellers but without official support and warranty, its to risky.
Then you should move to a country that takes better care of customers. The reseller is responsible for taking care of warranty which sounds very logical to me.

My last pixels was P6P but dropped for waist level and black glass shatter secondly always getting micro scratches in my pocket without running on any hard surface, now I’m convinced that I get this pixel and use it as my main phone.
After nearly 2 years with my P6P it also just shatters the front screen hitting a bit of metal under my desk, super upset but let's hope P8P doesn't do the same.... I dont wanna find out for at least 2 more years
It's unwise to use phones without screen protector as no matter the quality of the gorilla glass, it will always scratch from dust which has silica in it which is harder than glass. Screen protectors in most cases also save screen from cracking if the screen protector is edge to edge. They themselves get cracked while absorbing the impact. Screen replacement= 100$ , screen protector replacement= 1 to 2$

I honestly just said fuck it and paid big papa Verizon protection money so I'll just walk around caseless and just enjoy it until it gets nuked by my clumsy habits

Yeah I need to look into that, generally with a regular camera I take care of it but when recording with phones, some settings just don't work as well.

That was the most brutal drop testing that can be done really, no case straight on to concrete at head height. Where is the drop test for the iphone 15 to compare?
Awesome test. I'm interested though how would Pixel 9 Pro behave in the similar drop conditions. I'm very curious given Pixel 9 Pro's motherboard layout has been changed a lot compared to Pixel 8 Pro's. Are you going to do Pixel 9 Pro drop test as well :)?
Would love to see the camera tested after the drops, especially the optical image stabilization since this is one of the few moving parts on a smartphone.
If you do the fingerprint speed test, could you please try it with different moistures/dryness levels. For example set it up with just one normal finger scan then test to open it a few times, then wash hands with soap and water to get rid of the oils and try again. Then maybe try drying finger out with a hair dryer and trying again. I had the pixel 6 and sometimes my phone would lock me out because I had tried to log into it with my finger so many times. I finally figured out it was usually because my hands were just cleaned or dried out due to the low humidity when I went out for a walk in the winter. I would have upgraded to the 7 if they went sonic in the sensor. Was planning on upgrading to the 8 with the rumoured ultrasonic sensor. Now I’m on the fence on the 8 because of the optical sensor.
We‘re gonna need the teardown as fast as possible since the Internet goes crazy which sensor is in this thing 😂 Maybe a modified GNV… modified GN1 or GN2 in a smaller size since Google states it‘s 1/1,31". Can‘t be the same GN1 since they stated in the conference that it‘s a completely new sensor
I didn't take apart the camera since it would render it useless, but showed the numbers on the flex cable if it will help figure out. iFixit or @Wekihome will upload a video I'm sure showing the sensor itself soon.

Are the antenna lines easily scratched? I'm asking cuz I have the same phone and I was rubbing off some dust with a piece of paper and I know I went over the antenna line. So if you can please answer that question I appreciate it.
I'm not sure, but they are not painted on like a single layer if that is what you're worried about. Its a complete solid plastic embedded with the frame so even if it gets scratches or scrapes, that's only the surface of it and doesn't affect it.

As a pro clumsy mf I can assure that it's not the height of fall that matters its a how+luck(which in my case is set to 0 by default). Also whats that hole on camera glass? Can humidity go through 🤔??or it's a one fat piece that covers sensors?
Don't make the mistake to assume, that no visible damage means there is no damage, it builds up internal tensions, and suddenly out of nothing with only low stress the screen shadders (i had that myself with a pixel 7 pro, i did nothing, nothing happened to the phone, i just had it in my pocket and as i get it back it was shattered. it will survive the one or the other drop, but somedays it cracks out of nothing.
Who the heck drops their phone straight face down? Usually your phone drops while being used or while pulling out of your pockets. I hope you can simulate these scenarios.
Got an iPhone 15 pro max and THEN watched the drop test. Needless to say I went and got a case, screen protector, and camera protector. I can’t believe Both sides and the camera came out pretty much unscathed. I could use this phone without a case!

@@PBKreviews both of my pixel 6 and 7 fell a short distance on a little bump on the floor, ended up with broken screen and the touch sensitivity becomes unusable. It starts mixing inputs or the entire screen becomes with greenish brightness. I love pixel but I am way too reluctant to go for another one as the same could happen to my next phone. The issue seems to be with the curved edges probably
this was a painful video to watch. recently i was maintaining a very healthy p8 when i was giving it to someone for photo and she dropped it. i investigated it and i found a very, almost unnoticeable white dust like thing literally in between the glass and the corner. and i investigated the rest with flashlight and i didn't even see major damages until i investigated very deeply.
You need a better wallpaper to do these tests! Looks like it's cracked everytime but it's just the wallpaper 😂

Don't know about the 8 Pro but by 7 Pro does & that is because of the OIS hardware in the camera setup, it's pretty normal TBH
