I love that someone mentioned about putting rider's names on screen in the last video's comments, and you've implemented it straight away in the next video. Fair play 👏
what i love about this video, @matt jones, is you're showing you're human. you have doubts, anxieties, worries, confidence even though you ride at such a high level. you are human. thanks for putting your true self out for us to see. stay safe, bro. you did awesome this week.
You did absolutely amazing, mate.. Loved your run.. Nothing to be ashamed about.. 99.9 percent of all mountainbikers cant even ride that course, including me. so big up!
But there's something that needs to be mentioned. Matt isn't a professional DH rider, but nearly every other rider there is. You can't put Matt on a pedestal compared to full-time DH riders just because they aren't as well known.
No shame in hitting any of that track, it is nuts and more than 99% of riders would do...and you didn't come last either. You are still one of the best riders in the world and an inspiration to many.
I love how despite your nerves you are still polite to all those around you including the race staff. In an expensive world, manners cost nothing. Love your videos 💪🏼
This sequel is the best I've ever seen, I'm 46 watch alot of youtube mtb and this and your last video for me personally takes the cake, movie of the year. Exceptional achievements all round, well done for surviving and many thanks for the free content.
To place 21st in one of the toughest downhill races as a first timer is wild, especially after a confidence shattering seeding run, congratulations Matt you should be very proud of yourself. I know we all are ❤🤘🏼
That was a great race run Matt, well done, out of your comfort zone and you did great on the day, clean run, no injuries, and you kept yourself away from last place. Job done.
Nothing quite like the roar of the crowd to push the pain barrier and send the full run! A great insight into how hard these trails are even for some of the worlds best.
Hey Matt Jones, you are a true hero and an inspiration to all up and comers that's for sure. To have a crack at Hard Line in itself is a huge achievement, but to arrive late, miss track-walk would've deterred all but the strongest willed. I loved the camaraderie shown by all riders in the way they all helped each other right from day one (the one you missed) especially BK. To be honest, we could all tell that the track scared the crap out of you as you didn't giggle, even once, which is unlike you. Well done and look forward to your next video, Cheers.
I was there both days taking photos and got the opportunity to have a little chat with you and I have to say you're such a good person to everyone around you, all the fans, the amount of time you spend making sure everyone has the chance to take a photo with you, all your energy and everything! That's so good to see in a pro racer/biker, specially for the kids that you inspire all over the world! That's how legends are made of and you are one for sure!
YOU RULE!!!! Despite the obvious terror in your voice you did GREAT!!! Us fans are super proud of you! 👏👏👏 Also love the sign-off with all the fans behind you.
What a genuine ambassador for our sport. As an mtb dad myself i can appreciate the extra stress of travelling and being on dad duties on top of being out of your comfort zone. Impressive you stayed so calm throughout and took time for your fans 🙏🏻
Damn, seeing this guy struggle and being so out of his element, yet determined to conquer his fears is highly motivational. When you see the pros, they make it look so easy, especially, when they go through those massive drops without any hesitation. Props to you, Matt! Seriously, I found myself saying "Come on, bro, you've got this" out loud, that's how committed I was to this video😁
Onya Matt 🤙It is sooo good to see freeriders in amongst the best DHers, as it gives a great perspective for how quick they really are. Great run mate, hope you enjoyed Australia
Thanks for giving us the full run... It reminded me of my time doing downhill racing, the butterflies you get sitting behind the gate waiting for them to let you go...Awesome!
Buddy you should be so impressed with yourself! That takes balls of steel! Shows up a day late, doesnt do a walk through, nor a full run. Crashes. Gets back up and goes top to bottom in an element that is not his. Much respect dude!
Amazing run, Matt! The fact that you link it all together cleanly for the first time in the real run shows how much of a competitive mindset you have! Kudos!
Proud of you Matt! Having the perspective of someone who is clearly an amazing rider finding a track so hard really gives us extra insight into events like this, and I love seeing your attitude (throughout your channel).
Dude it's really good to see you so sketched out and nervous but recover and finish the hill. It's good to see your humanity instead of only riders polished PR achievements.
What you’ve accomplished there is amazing. Massively impressive work considering the circumstances, and conditions. You’re competing with the best riders on the planet, in the most bad ass event… 👍🏽✌🏽🇺🇸🇬🇧
Thanks for sharing your experience Matt. Watching Hardline wouldn’t be the same without the videos you guys are putting down. Thanks for giving us the on board personal views and insight into what you guys are thinking and experiencing as you prepare for the race. Super fun to witness your POV.
Matt you’re the true definition of “just trust the bike” and it proves the saying true. Love it. If you’re scared just trust your bike. It’s got your back. And front hopefully. 😂
Well done Matt. A brutal course that 99.9% of the world wouldn't even attempt. Hope you have some time to look around Tasmania as it is incredible. From a long-term Australian fan. Keep the vids coming.
I've ridden Maydena a few times now. This place is insane the way the geology and the forest changes from top to bottom. Every 100m you have a new set of conditions to contend with but the biggest challenge is always the Tassie weather - bushfires one day, horizontal freezing rain the next haha.
Unreal Matt made it down with such little practice. He's a slope style rider, not DH, so for him to ride Hardline of all courses is extremely impressive. Still can't believe he rode down without waking it first, amazing job!
Well done Matt! I wish I had a tenth the skill, and the cahoonas that you have. I love how in the bits where the crowd were you got your flow on :D Also, great to see you fisting bumping the next generation of mtb'ers even though you were under huge pressure,. Great video!
It's beautiful to hear someone with manners. Well done on the race day I heard the commentary saying your rear suspension was set with barely any travel.
What a classic video of struggle against adversity and triumph! Amazing to see just how diffult the track is even for top atheleties. So much repect for getting it all togther on the race run. Polite, humble, quality. Really enjoyable video that takes you right through the Hardline journey 💪💪👌
Well done Matt! I can see that is quite a bit outside of your comfort zone. Big ups for sucking it up and sending it down. Was great to be there in person to watch it.
I was more excited watching your runs than most other riders tbh! the way you ride and demeanor off the bike make you one of the most relatable out there and therefor some of the best content! absolutely mammoth achievement to just ride all those features, let a lone tie it together in one run. big ups.
Sooo much respect for going out of your comfort zone and embracing it, showing us the whole process. You should be very stoked on doing a full lap that's super impressive m8.
so exciting; watching this now like it's live. Come on Matt! Now done! I was speechless. Looked great to me! I can tell the jumps are your forte. Thrilling stuff to see it from the inside!
Its great to see that pro riders such as yourself go through the same anxieties as us mere mortals, super pleased for you and thanks for the honest no frills take on the event. Great Vid.
Any past or present motocross racer knows the feeling of screaming in your full face because of the pain from arm pump. But adrenaline and your own pride keep you going. Great run Matt 🙌
A youtube vid has never been this intense, felt like I was riding it myself. With mountainbiking, everything going good and you doing big jumps, then when you go beyond your limit even the little things become scary
so sick to watch you racing these insane tracks. I have so much respect for you to go from crashing in your final practice to smashing a full run. Amazing video Matt
It's been great to watch non-racer-does-downhill-race. Fair play 👏 And gives some perspective as to how insanely fast the top level DH riders are, even on a track like Hardline.
love the honesty with out all the bravado, coming from one of the best all rounder in the world it shows how ridiculously hard that course must of been! massive kudos mate bloody awesome
Feel that... My hometrail is quite techy and with some smaller drops. When it's rainy, the clay makes it all ultra slippy!! Good thing there are Magic Mary's in super soft. :)
So great to ride along with you and hear your thoughts. Your clearly a top World ranked rider yet there you are stressed and saying all the same stuff I do when riding. Only difference is I am on gravel Track screaming like a girl getting air for a split second and your on well, Hardline! I always thought you all just had a death wish. You deserve your 3/4 million subscribers awesome content.
I don't know why, but I like how Matt and Bernard are friends. They have so much in common (and are bringing in loads of cash right now with their apparel) and it's entertaining to see them interact. Now we need Jacko to start up a channel. I could watch him ride 24/7!!
I"m only through 4 mins of the video but its so incredible to hear someone that is one of the best in the world struggle with a course. Gives it the realist perspective. Gives it a reality of what this course is. Matt, you are a fucking legend, love these videos! P.S I know this aint your normal which makes it even more insane haha
I was astonished by your run - as not only you managed to get it too to bottom, you even scored some places! Knowing through vids how hard it is, I was screaming like crazy watching you clear every feature!
I love that someone mentioned about putting rider's names on screen in the last video's comments, and you've implemented it straight away in the next video. Fair play 👏
Yess!! Love it
Matt is despicably wholesome amd humble...
Was about to comment the same. I rate that
Yeah read that comment too
In a bad or good way cos we like to know who the rider is. It could be a choice wether you want your name presented or not just saying.
Refreshing to hear someone under pressure still having to time to be polite to the Marshalls.
Well done, great viewing.,

You did absolutely amazing, mate.. Loved your run.. Nothing to be ashamed about.. 99.9 percent of all mountainbikers cant even ride that course, including me. so big up!
We could all ride it! Just end up with a pile of body bags at the bottom 😂
I can only dream of riding stuff that big. Great video.
@@nw7654 I think the body bags would start stacking up almost at the top already
But there's something that needs to be mentioned. Matt isn't a professional DH rider, but nearly every other rider there is. You can't put Matt on a pedestal compared to full-time DH riders just because they aren't as well known.
@@daverotors very true 😂
Yes Matt, was rooting for you to get a clean run in your final and you did! So stoked for you man!
No shame in hitting any of that track, it is nuts and more than 99% of riders would do...and you didn't come last either. You are still one of the best riders in the world and an inspiration to many.
Hell yeah! Great comment!
Major props for being so honest with how hard it was, wicked video! 🤟

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it” awesome work!
your terror is so honest, it's refreshing to see. Fucking amazing that you knitted it all together for the final run! So psyched for you!
To place 21st in one of the toughest downhill races as a first timer is wild, especially after a confidence shattering seeding run, congratulations Matt you should be very proud of yourself.
I know we all are ❤🤘🏼
talent and humility is a rare gift Matt. you have it in spades., highly enjoyable viewing
That was a great race run Matt, well done, out of your comfort zone and you did great on the day, clean run, no injuries, and you kept yourself away from last place. Job done.
Hats off for pushing yourself out way of your comfort zone on camera.

Love to see through your eyes as you scream down the rugged trails to the climactic jumps. So dynamic! Thank you for sharing your experiences. 😊
Onya Matt 🤙It is sooo good to see freeriders in amongst the best DHers, as it gives a great perspective for how quick they really are. Great run mate, hope you enjoyed Australia
Thanks for sharing Matt. I think most of us can relate regardless of our skill levels. Sometimes your head rules
I love both your honesty and your politeness under pressure; a quite remarkable combination. Your videos are some of the best. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for giving us the full run... It reminded me of my time doing downhill racing, the butterflies you get sitting behind the gate waiting for them to let you go...Awesome!

Legend! Did a great job, making it down is an achievement in itself.
Thanks for giving so much of your time to the fans, it was well appreciated.

You did an awesome job riding something out of your comfort zone and were so kind towards all your fans. Fantastic human!
Lots of respect from Thunder Bay 🇨🇦 your a damn monster for riding this
Great to watch Matt. Also from a relative noob to see someone struggling but still having fun epitomises MTB for me. Massive respect.
I am sure your body was hurting from the practice fall, but you still put down a great run. Cheers man. Love the positive energy you put out.
Love your honesty, it really puts it into context that someone as badass as you is terrified. Great stuff!
Dude it's really good to see you so sketched out and nervous but recover and finish the hill. It's good to see your humanity instead of only riders polished PR achievements.
That’s one wild track, hats off to ya Matt going outside your comfort and getting it done, clean run.
What you’ve accomplished there is amazing. Massively impressive work considering the circumstances, and conditions. You’re competing with the best riders on the planet, in the most bad ass event… 👍🏽✌🏽🇺🇸🇬🇧
Man it's comforting to know even the pros can get shaken some days. You pushed through and overcame it, well done!
Thanks for sharing your experience Matt. Watching Hardline wouldn’t be the same without the videos you guys are putting down.
Thanks for giving us the on board personal views and insight into what you guys are thinking and experiencing as you prepare for the race.
Super fun to witness your POV.
Mad respect to you Matt. Seeing a rider like yourself show the struggles and fears really puts it into perspective. Absolutely smashed it brah 😊🤘
Matt you’re the true definition of “just trust the bike” and it proves the saying true. Love it. If you’re scared just trust your bike. It’s got your back. And front hopefully. 😂
Anyone who really rides mtb knows that exhaustion pain of your race run. And you did it on one of the most insane dh courses ever. Well done 🤘

Fair play! Nice touch adding the others riders names as suggested
I'm not a mountain bike rider. But I loved these two videos. Well done mate! And thanks did the honesty.
Kudos for getting your race run down like this Matt! And thanks for sharing the struggle, mad respect mate!
I was more excited watching your runs than most other riders tbh! the way you ride and demeanor off the bike make you one of the most relatable out there and therefor some of the best content! absolutely mammoth achievement to just ride all those features, let a lone tie it together in one run. big ups.

All this footage from Tasmania which you provided was very interesting and fun to watch. good job with everything! big respect
That was an awesome run! Your ablility to push through is the reason you’ve achieved such greatness!
so exciting; watching this now like it's live. Come on Matt! Now done! I was speechless. Looked great to me! I can tell the jumps are your forte. Thrilling stuff to see it from the inside!
You did excellent Matt. We loved watching your run and how humble you were despite being a pro. 💯
Your video shows the true gnarly-ness of the track and the live stream made me realize its a lot steeper than it looks on POV films! Incredible
Mate you should be so proud you managed it all in one could tell it was a challenge but proved to yourself(as we knew you could) you could do, respect
Its great to see that pro riders such as yourself go through the same anxieties as us mere mortals, super pleased for you and thanks for the honest no frills take on the event. Great Vid.
Insane track, and you handled it like a champ. Huge of you to share the ride and your thoughts even with so many setbacks in the run up to it.
Mate, fantastic to have that much support out there!! Awesome job Matt, great riding and determination.
Love your enthusiasm and honesty a rare thing these days, stay safe.
How did Matt Jones ever get sponsored by Red Bull. Matt Jones is an Imposter.
Any past or present motocross racer knows the feeling of screaming in your full face because of the pain from arm pump. But adrenaline and your own pride keep you going. Great run Matt 🙌
When it looks that gnarly on a GoPro, you know its wild! Fair play putting the full race run together!
For all the bumps and bruises, you had a clean final run which was absolutely amazing. Good on you man.
Mate, your mental fortitude is inspiring! Picked yourself up and smashed into the finals - love to see it 🦾
Love the way you have pushed yourself this week and you should be proud of what you have achieved, well done.
A youtube vid has never been this intense, felt like I was riding it myself. With mountainbiking, everything going good and you doing big jumps, then when you go beyond your limit even the little things become scary
I was seriously worried you were gonna crash on the actual race run! Good job piecing it together when it counted!!
We are all so proud of you matt for racing one of the hardest dh races in the world! Fair play mate! you will do great at red bull hardline in Wales.
Way to go, Matt! Mountain Biking could not have had a better advocate than you. What a run!
Matt, u are the real deal, thankyou for posting this video, you are a pro fighting this course at times but sticking with it... Nice job!!
How did Matt Jones ever get sponsored by Red Bull. Matt Jones is an Imposter.
Superb effort Matt. To go to one of the top downhill races in the world and do what you did is amazing. You're the legend
Great run Jone’sy 👊👊 Real candid honesty about the difficulty level of the trail, says it as it is 👍 Well done fella…..
so sick to watch you racing these insane tracks. I have so much respect for you to go from crashing in your final practice to smashing a full run. Amazing video Matt
Bravo, sir, bravo! 👏👏👏 The POV run was awesome and the perseverance was legendary. Honestly so inspiring!
It's been great to watch non-racer-does-downhill-race. Fair play 👏
And gives some perspective as to how insanely fast the top level DH riders are, even on a track like Hardline.
love the honesty with out all the bravado, coming from one of the best all rounder in the world it shows how ridiculously hard that course must of been! massive kudos mate bloody awesome
Massive respect for doing something outside your wheelhouse! Nailed it! 🤙🏻
Love this Matt! Takes a massive set of balls to do what you did. Great example
So much time in the making of this run, was devastated that it got cancelled last year. Kudos to you for smashing the new course!
That was so sick! I mean it would be insane for me to even look at that, so hearing you talk about it being so tough makes it all the more impressive.
A great piece of riding and very honest about it all as well. Top video, loved it.
Feel that... My hometrail is quite techy and with some smaller drops. When it's rainy, the clay makes it all ultra slippy!! Good thing there are Magic Mary's in super soft. :)
Loved the rawness of it all in this one - amazing work
What a run mate! Well done. Every year you gain more respect from me. That was spot on!
So great to ride along with you and hear your thoughts. Your clearly a top World ranked rider yet there you are stressed and saying all the same stuff I do when riding. Awesome! That’s a killer course, so scary!
I was on the edge of my seat. Brilliant run - I could feel the nerves. Well done - pushing your comfort zone again - inspiring stuff!!

Unreal effort Matt really enjoyed watching your honest viewpoint over the week.
The speed your going through the trees being so tired is wild you killed it!
Even after watching all the build up vids and the live stream this shows how truly gnarly the track is!
It's all about the fist bumps!! You the man still taking the time for the kiddos 🤘🤘
I was astonished by your run - as not only you managed to get it too to bottom, you even scored some places! Knowing through vids how hard it is, I was screaming like crazy watching you clear every feature!
