I just booked my trip to Frankfurt from JFK for November, and I'll be on this plane. Thanks for keeping a mostly positive review of Lufthansa. Happy travels!
Next year my wife and I are going on our year-delayed honeymoon to Greece. We’re flying from Seattle all the way to Frankfurt in three a340 (at least that’s the plane currently flying the route). Good to know that it should at least be a decent flight experience!
I've only seen the Lufthansa A330-300 and their A350-900 arrive to IAD, but sadly never the A340. I'll try and see if they resume service to any of their 747s on the Frankfurt-D.C. route anytime soon though.
Thank you! This was super helpful! I'm assuming that there is no bluetooth capability for headphones. Can I plug in my Bose headphones in the same jack?
So glad to hear that! Yes, sadly no bluetooth at this point. That should work, as long as they have the standard audio jack that most wired headphones/earbuds have.
Question about middle armrest. You said its movable but only saw it go half way up. Can you tell me if the armrest goes all the way up for someone getting 2 seats?
Question: I have a reserved seat in this plane, front seat in economy for the extra leg room. I am wondering how I have a screen and table without a seat in front of me?
Good question- the screen and table are in your armrest and can be pulled up. The only downside is that usually they'll ask you to put both screens down during take off and landing.
Thank you! Lufthansa's A330 and A340 are pretty much the exact same in experience, 340 just has an extra 2 engines. I wonder if they will change the Washington flight back to a 340 this summer? Glad you enjoyed the video!
@@JourneyingwithJosiah Actually the Lufthansa A330's economy seats are a bit different from the ones on the A340. I flew on both aircraft and can confirm, and there are also pictures.
Hope my reply isn't too late- at the time of filming I was 5'11''- I think you could still manage at your height, but you could get more legroom if you're willing to pay for an exit row.
Good question. Pros: There is extra leg space, you are the first off the plane, and you get food first. Cons: Seats are a little more narrow (so if you're a wide person I wouldn't recommend). I'd say if its no more than $60 more it's worth it.
Nice video, can you share information on the arrival in DC? Where to go for immigration control (American) and to the baggage claim from the arrival door? First time going there from Frankfurt.
Thanks for asking! Once arriving into Washington you walk following the signs that say “Arrivals” or “Baggage claim”. You will end up getting on a bus that takes you to another terminal building. Once there follow the same signs and you will come across passport control. You enter different lines depending on who you are: foreigners, standard US citizens, global entry (for some US citizens and residents) and Mobile Pass (for some US and Canadian citizens). I used Mobile Pass and it was really fast. Baggage claim is right behind that, then follow the signs that say “exit” and you are done! Let me know if you have other questions.
Right now I do not have a trip planned to Indonesia, but it for sure is on my list to do someday! I did fly to Bali a few years ago, but on Singapore Airlines. You can see it if you scroll down to my 2018 videos. Thank you very much for watching this video!!
Outstanding trip report. The cup holder is very useful in my opinion, it's a shame that many airlines have decided not to install it on their new planes. I think the service was very good on this flight despite some cost cuttings
Did you have any problem while you were recording that? or did you used a hiden camera?. I thought Lufthansa is very restricted with cameras on board. I will travel to India in october on thar aircraft model and I'd like to record some images. Thank's for answer
I didn’t have any problems. I wouldn’t say I hid the camera but I definitely didn’t purposely let the flight attendants see it. What I’ve found is that the majority of them don’t care unless you’re stuffing it in the face of them or other passengers.
Good review. This is an airline I used to fly all the time before the pandemic and I think their economy class product is quite good.
Thank you! They are very reliable for sure.
I'm gonna travel in 3 weeks same flight :) I found it very helpful, thank you!
Thank you! Safe travels!

Glad it was helpful :)
I'm going to be flying lufthansa a340-300 from FRA-Atlanta this winter! Im sooo excited!
So awesome!! The A340 is amazing. There's just something about having four engines on a plane that makes it really special :)

I saw this aircraft in Denver a few weeks ago. I also flew onboard another LH A340 (D-AIGU) last April, and have a trip report.
Oh wow, awesome! I love the A340 so much 😂
Nice review

Interesting. In the summer of 2021 (when I took this flight) they were alternating between the 330 and 340... a 747 would be awesome, though!

Thanks for the question. Yes- the armrest between the two seats goes up the whole way. The ones by the wall/window and by the aisle do not.
Going to Venice next year for my honeymoon and it looks like we will fly lufthansa
Congrats! Hope you will enjoy Lufthansa ✈️
I'm going on this plane to Europe in July!!
Glad you found my video- enjoy the flight!

Airbus A340-300 is my favourite ♥️
Thanks man
You're welcome!

Thank you Josiah! You have been very helpful!
Do you recall how was the air quality? Compared to any other airliner of your choice. Thinking about booking this flight. Thank you in advance.
It was completely fine! I've never been on a Lufthansa flight that I felt like something was off in that regard.
your youtube video says its the A340-600 instead of the 300 variant.
Good catch, thank you so much for noticing. I’ve changed it now.
This is probably a stupid question, but was the alcohol with your meal an extra charge? Great video!
No worries, I'm happy to answer! Beer and wine are free in economy on long flights like this one.
Good video, now the plane number is LH 772 with the Same Registration and plane type.
Btw the LH418 now is an Airbus a333

What were the alcoholic options?
Thanks for asking! Beer and wine are free in economy. Liquor is for purchase starting in December.
Great review. Thanks. One question- how tall are you and did you have enough leg space? I am 6`04- will it be ok? Thanks

@@JourneyingwithJosiah thanks, all good. Already traveled and it was pretty much ok.
Do you think row 16 (economy but with more leg space) is worth its money ?

@@JourneyingwithJosiah ah ok, so the armrest is not adjustable like in PE?
@@kalvanii Correct.
the leg room on lufthansa is actually below average! most international airlines on laonghaul flights offer 33 in and lufthansa is 31-32

Flying on this airplane from Munich to Chicago in 3 days!
Sorry to not get back to you earlier, but I hope you had a great flight!
@@JourneyingwithJosiah no worries, it was a good flight!
Do they wash the pillows?
The Oldest A340-300s still in Service Today
The oldest were delivered in 1996
5:30 would completely let me freak out.... So damn disrespectful to recline your seat while people are eating
Agreed. But thankfully this seat didn't make it as bad as some others I've had, haha!
Did you have to wear a mask on the plane? Are they still required?
Not anymore, Lufthansa made them optional in October 2022.
Thanks for the video! Do u think it’s noisy in row 18 which is near the engine?
I would say it’s probably a little louder there than the rest of the plane, but nothing too extreme. It was not a problem for me at all.
Outstanding trip report. The cup holder is very useful in my opinion, it's a shame that many airlines have decided not to install it on their new planes. I think the service was very good on this flight despite some cost cuttings

They do a way better job upkeeping the A340-300 than Air France did
For sure. Felt like any regular modern airliner from the inside!
amateur review, with poor previous experience ... so nothing to compare, but keep working!
If you would like to elaborate and and/or suggest what would make it less amateur and poor I’m all ears…
