When I first started shopping with Sephora it was 2017 I believe within 5 months I was Rouge so I am Rouge until December 2021! insane when they get people they got them!! Until they realize all the shit they could have done with that hard earned money they've spent at sephora.... Me!!!! 🙋

@@kaizey I use to work for Sephora and as an ex employee I actually think their business model and goals have always had the best interest for the customers in mind. While of course increasing sales is always a primary motive, I think their goals do focus on making sure a customer gets what they really want as the end result, whether it starts with makeup and ends with skincare. That was a value I as a person always held dear and was proud to represent in their culture.

And you can stack $20 off as well as $3.50 off $15 coupons on top of store sales (but not for clearance). I only shop there when I have a coupon, and I always get makeup less than I would at Walmart. And I also get extra points.
Then when I redeem points, I can also stack them with coupons. I got Colourpop's Frozen 2 collection for $0. Then I got my birthday gift for 1¢.

I’m fully aware of all these facts and I am a frequent Sephora customer. It doesn’t bother me that their enhanced experience typically leads to better sales for them. Sephora (and Ulta) is fantastic, they have a very liberal return policy and they give you many opportunities to perfect your purchase needs. As a consumer it is my responsibility to shop responsibly, recognize cost per volume, research ingredients and product quality and determine the needs of my beauty routine.
Their rewards program can be hit or miss sometimes but I typically will purchase my go to products when I am able to pick up a couple of items with my reward points. Their free 2 day shipping subscription is pretty awesome too because I can replenish my skin care items without having to meet a minimum purchase amount to earn free shipping.

Youn Bora just FYI I worked at a SiJCP and transferred to a freestanding Sephora and had the worst experience they treat you like they are better than you bc you came from a JC Penney Sephora the discrimination was so bad that after I put my 2 weeks in I called corporate. I explained everything to them and they overnighted a debit card to the Sephora store with 2 weeks worth of pay. I didnt even have to work the rest of the 2 weeks and they told me to feel free to apply to Sephora in the future. You should have seen the looks on my managers faces when I came in the next morning to pick up that debit card. Joke was on them in the end 🤪

I realised how much I've been spending on make up considering the fact that they're pricier over here where I live and now all I have is a small make up bag I can bring everywhere. Most of them are drug store make up.
A lot of women these days are tempted to get anything from a make up store because of what the media tells them. The unexplainable hype towards highlighters? The idea of wanting to own each eyeshadow shade ever invented? Sure, make up is art but it really isn't practical for everyone on a daily basis. Most of us women just need a bit of coverage and colour to glow from within and not pounds of 'instagram' make up.
But at the end of the day, we all have our own choices and decisions to make. So YOU DO YOU but if you're doing it for something else then girlll let's save up that money.

For anyone curious the whole putting products that they want to sell on the top shelf is actually used in basically every physical retailer that has shelves. we are more drawn to eye level and slightly below. This is why in grocery stores you see more childlike cereals on the bottom shelves and more practice cereals on the upper mid shelves. Stores put a ton of effort into the placement of their products and they often use a planogram to plan out where everything is going to go. Companies even make deals with certain retailers and pay significantly more for eye level placement. its really interesting the physiology behind placement and the impact it has on our purchasing habits.

I gave the same description of what I wanted to the pharmacy right around and got exactly what I wanted, in waterproof/ non waterproof, cream, spray, all sorts of volumes and sizes and ended up paying $9, which was the price I expected.
Another thing I don’t enjoy is how the s.a treats people differently after inspecting them from head to toe. I was testing out the fenty highlighters with a friend and those girls were just there, watching me, making me feel more or less quite uncomfortable

This video was poorly researched. In response to the first claim of keeping almost all products in store - in actuality, they don’t keep 25-30% of their SKUs in the majority of stores, they’re available online only. Second huge missed point is their flash shipping program. They introduced this in 2015, offering two day shipping for $15 per year. By being one of the first brick and mortar retailers to build out this channel, they became the “amazon prime of beauty products,” guaranteeing consumers can get their items faster than any of their competitors.

No offense to anyone who works at Ulta, but anytime I have someone shade match me at Ulta, I s2g they must be on drugs. They put me 3 shades dark and with an orange undertone and try to rush me out the door. Sephora is pretty good and their employees (in my experience) will spend a long time making sure the shade and undertone is right, using several different types of lighting. However, if I know what I want I'll go right into Ulta. So basically it depends on if I have to interact with staff or not, lol.

It's based on a few more things such as popularity, eye-level shelf analytics, and how much companies are willing to pay to have their products be more visible to the customers. Certain rewards offer a brand trip, but we are t talking about spending upwards of 20,000 points, which is is equivalent of the $20,000. So, unless you spend that much and have those points racked up you can't get any of those experiences. You can however, get a $100 rouge reward card (comes with certain limitations) with 4000 points spent.

Items that contain more product cost less per product - that's not a secret, that's what every company does. How they really get you is by making you aware of it so that you'll be more likely to fork out 59$ instead of 25$ for something you might not even like, just because you seem to get a better deal. Buy the smaller product first to try it out, if you don't like it or don't use it often, your loss will be smaller, vs buying the large one and wasting more money. You can always get the better deal later if you wish, just make sure it's *really* the better deal overall.

Lol I’m still going to shop there because the staff is so helpful and kind. When I first started doing makeup, the staff helped me and recommended products and told me how to do it.

Trying out products = smaller size
Saving money (only if the product works for you) = bigger size

Business Insider: Have you ever left Sephora after buying more products than you intended?
    Me: No.
    Also me: What’s Sephora?

When I was in Taiwan and Korea, it was pretty standard procedure to have sample containers and cleaning stations in stores. It was interesting to come back to the States and realize I couldn't easily try products before buying. I haven't shopped much at Sephora before, but now I want to check it out!
