I'd love to see you review the animated two-parter, The Death and Return of Superman. It was released in two parts. Part one is called The Death of Superman. Part two is called Reign of the Supermen. It was later combined into a single 2.5-hour movie. If you can find the time to get it and watch it, please review it.
I remember at 18 years young when the pilot movie for Superman TAS "The Last Son of Krypton" aired on a Sunday afternoon on KTLA 5 in Los Angeles right after the TV airing of Supes IV: The Quest for peace. (Though the Toyman episode aired first on a Friday) and how I recorded the first few episodes on VHS tapes. 📼 I really look forward to a movie where Superman shares/divides his powers to a Super Team in a distant Cyberpunk future, something new.
Someone has some kind of hidden agenda behind all this I bet. Superman is evil in one movie, evil in another, evil in game, evil in animation.. What the hell?? When do we get a movie where superman is a good, handsome, kind guy who saves people and takes his girl on a flight??
I was hyped for this movie too, DC usually isn't a hit or miss with their animated films. But they for sure missed on this one. Thumbs up if you agree.
I think this movie would have done better if it had been a two part movie like The Long Halloween. Cramming this much story into one movie just didn’t work.
Honestly, I would love to see reviews on the new DC animated movies like Superman: Man of Tomorrow, Justice Society: WWII, and the Batman: Long Halloween films. That would be awesome! If not all of them, at least the Superman film.
I love the idea of getting short vlogs on these DC animated movies! I recently started getting into them with their availability on HBO max. I’d ask to do a review on The Long Halloween since it just came out over the summer. Or if you’ve seen multiple DC animated movies, maybe a top 10? Either way I agree these DC movies deserve more love all around.
Harley drugs Oliver, kills the Arkham guards (rip to their security what a travesty), and sets the inmates loose which led up to Dick's death, but *somehow* she's still with Batman's inner circle with Selina and Plastic Man in a later scene. Was rooting for her to smash Amazo up with her mallet but they even gave that to Selina, christ.
I’ve wanted you to review these. The last one you reviewed was Red Son, and you said you “should be supporting these.” I never played Injustice games nor read the comics. I thought this movie was all over the place. The multiverse thing can be done well, and it can be done poorly. When they use it to abruptly end the story, it’s the latter. Batman uploading the virus into Cyborg was my favorite part, and Croc says, “That’s cold, man.” That’s so Batman!
Never read the comic and I did feel it was rushed at the end, but I didnt really feel like he was evil. It felt like a what if we had a Superman who did what people really wanted, like no more injustice in the world. It was kinda crazy I felt for him and didn't all at the same time. I know I'm probably missing something...
The comics/games make him into much more of a megalomaniacal dictator. You don't really feel any sympathy for him by the end of the first game storyline
I have reviewed the comics leading up to the game and am currently working on a narrative focused review on the game. If you haven’t read the comics, then feel free to go watch my videos.
having not read the comics beforehand, it makes more sense in retrospect why the story was so different from the games, as well as how dense and rushed the overall presentation is. i’m glad it wasn’t a straight-up adaptation of the games, it would’ve made the alternate cast stand out in a worse way, personally speaking. i would’ve actually bumped it up to a 7 purely for a scene you didn’t mention; Bruce and Selina’s moment following Nightwing’s death. it’s been a long time since Batman of all characters has given me such a powerful emotional response.
I was under the assumption that DEADWING was the source for why there was an alternate ending. I thought that whole scene was to show that he is the maguffin.
Id like to see more reviews of the animated movies they really are great and worth discussion. Long Halloween was fantastic. Itd be cool to get a season/series review of Doom Patrol in a couple of weeks as well. DC has been killing it lately
The problem with injustice is that it isn't Superman, I understand it's an elseworlds story but it's really starting to bleed into media and it's how a lot of people legitimately view Superman if not the "boring" character people also see him as
Yeah. Kingdom Come Superman went through an almost similar tragedy, where the Joker killed Lois Lane, but didn't turn evil like Injustice Superman did.
I didn't think anything could top how stupid Nightwing's death was in the Injustice comics but by god they did it, I could only laugh about the deaths of Flash and Cyborg.
Superman: The Animated Series is GOLD and to my knowledge it's the only DC animated series where the creators were given permission to kill a prominent character to honor a famous comic book artist based on that character who died in real life it brought legitimate tears when I saw that scene for the first time
5/10 is far too generous for this. This is a 2/10, a 3/10 at the most. And I defend and actually liked what they did with The Killing Joke, despite the disjointed feel to the story…that is a 5/10. Hush was a 6/10 just because of the major change.
The rating seems good to me people are over expecting them to to put 5 years of story perfectly into an 1h 20 m movie. For what it is I think it's great.
@@THEBATMAN_396 We weren’t expecting them to put 5 years of story into a 70minute movie. We, at least I, was thinking that this would be their new “New 52” continuity thing like they did in the previous grouping where they had one continuous storyline over the course of several movies starting with Justice League War and ending with Apokolips War. And since that Justice League Dark Apokolips War movie they’ve yet to present a continuing storyline with a consistent cast.
Love to have these vlog reviews. Also in the camp of including the spoiler section in there as your opinion and take on certain events and scenes is really refreshing.
I feel the opposite way, Joe. I love that it's Superman choosing to be the way he is and not by proxy. Everytime Superman does something bad it's always because he's being controlled or manipulated HE NEVER MAKES A BAD DECISION which I am not a fan of.
So the best way to watch this movie is to take some of the key scenes and the ending and splice them with the cutscenes from the Injustice 1 and 2 games. Sounds like an interesting idea.

“Dreams save us, dreams lift us up and transform us into something better. And on my soul, I swear that until my dream of a world where dignity, honor, and justice are the reality we all share, I’ll never stop fighting… EVER” This is my favorite quote and it goes through my mind every time I see an evil Superman and I’m a little saddened that most people see Superman as a relic with nothing to contribute these days because he is the perfect version of what a good person should be. He CAN kill us all, and he CAN rule over us. But he never would even consider that because he was fortunate enough to see the best humanity had to offer and fully believes that we all deserve a chance for a better life no matter who we are or where we come from because he can relate to feeling alone in this world. Probably better than anyone.
Always find it funny that generally, the people who say, “Superman isn’t Superman in this!” seem to absolutely love MoS and Zack’s take on the character. When it’s for that very reason I HATE what Zack did with Superman.
What the FUCK are you talking about? Zack Snyder didn’t turn Superman into a murderer, he focused on the Clark Kent side of the character, which has not been done outside the Lois and Clark series in the 1990s and Superman & Lois did the exact same thing. Where does this Mandela Effect of Snyder ruining Superman keep coming from?!
Superman doesn't murder. Not even Zod. Phantom zone ftw. Snyder is alright but he is much better with darker tones (300/watchmen). Would have much prefered him with a batman movie. A character that's about hope should be bright and happy (color-wise too) and felt like he's always so serious in man of steel and bvs. But hey I enjoyed Superman Returns so what do I know.
@@stephenstrange5663 Phantom Zone is a fate worse than death. And Zod wasn’t murdered, if he was then Clark would have done it from the get go. I'd love to see you review the animated two-parter, The Death and Return of Superman. It was released in two parts. Part one is called The Death of Superman. Part two is called Reign of the Supermen. It was later combined into a single 2.5-hour movie. If you can find the time to get it and watch it, please review it.
WB are idiots, another company needs to get DC rights
Wonder Woman also got me. Her romantic motivations came out of nowhere. She became an immoral fangirl for Supes
never thought i'd see dolby sponsor a youtuber. that's fuckin' badass, man!
Injustice feel like it should have been a TV series, a lot goes on to stuff into a 2 hour movie
I like having the spoiler and none spoiler sections. It was a nice little review.
I would like to see Joe review last year's Superman Man of Tomorrow.
I really look forward to a movie where Superman shares/divides his powers to a Super Team in a distant Cyberpunk future, something new.
Someone has some kind of hidden agenda behind all this I bet. Superman is evil in one movie, evil in another, evil in game, evil in animation.. What the hell?? When do we get a movie where superman is a good, handsome, kind guy who saves people and takes his girl on a flight??
15:28 *Yeah they did do that in the Injustice comic AJ Deadman was dying so he asked Nightwing if he would take his place and he did.* 💪🏽
I also liked the ending, the only way to stop an evil Superman is to give him what he lost.
I was hyped for this movie too, DC usually isn't a hit or miss with their animated films. But they for sure missed on this one. Thumbs up if you agree.
I think this movie would have done better if it had been a two part movie like The Long Halloween. Cramming this much story into one movie just didn’t work.
You're right.
I like the quick vlog review format to hear your thoughts on it. I think having a spoiler section is good, but it felt a bit long as a video.
Honestly, I would love to see reviews on the new DC animated movies like Superman: Man of Tomorrow, Justice Society: WWII, and the Batman: Long Halloween films. That would be awesome! If not all of them, at least the Superman film.
Injustice : The Abridged Movie
_As the title suggests, it does the story a severe _*_injustice_*_ in terms of length and storytelling_
As much as I like a more "angry" Joe, this is nice
I like this review vlog, keep them coming. Quick, short, straight to the point.
Shazam standing up to Superman in the game instantly made him my favorite DC character. WTF
Yes! Finally an animated DC movie review.
We played the Injustice video game that came out like 10 years ago, so we already know the story :)
Check out Flashpoint Paradox if you haven't seen it yet. It's good.
Ah jesus, everything is Flashpoint lol, if you've watched any number of DC animated movies it's basically become an inside joke
@@bluesteelmagnolia I know I know lol. I love the others too!
The Long Halloween is fantastic, if you haven't seen it. One (two?) of my favorite Batman films of all time.
@@Matt_Bright_1983 yeah part one and two are amazing, they comic is better in my opinion but it's very good.
The animated justice league dark apocalypse war was really good in my opinion.
I agree design wise a lot of these characters were super angular, and the huge black squares on everyone's knuckles were pretty noticeable too
Joe this is random but you should do a review on the movie the endless, I think it’s from 2017
The endless like from sandman?
The endless f’n RULES
He dosent do old movies
It’s a lovecraftian movie part of a trilogy of LOSE connected films pretty neat stuff
Cool I'll check it out
I’ve wanted you to review these.
I don't give a shit what anyone says.. this movie was amazing!!
As someone who hasn't played the injustice game, I also liked the movie. Yes it was rushed but it didn't feel incomplete.
I have reviewed the comics leading up to the game and am currently working on a narrative focused review on the game. If you haven’t read the comics, then feel free to go watch my videos.
I like this review format! Very easy listen :D
having not read the comics beforehand, it makes more sense in retrospect why the story was so different from the games, as well as how dense and rushed the overall presentation is. i’m glad it wasn’t a straight-up adaptation of the games, it would’ve made the alternate cast stand out in a worse way, personally speaking. i would’ve actually bumped it up to a 7 purely for a scene you didn’t mention; Bruce and Selina’s moment following Nightwing’s death. it’s been a long time since Batman of all characters has given me such a powerful emotional response.
I finally saw this on HBO Max overall it was good it just fell too short like Joe said
I was under the assumption that DEADWING was the source for why there was an alternate ending.
Long Halloween is laughable how stupid it was. Espically the twist
It does sucks that for every good DC animated film we get now, we get like 5 flops
This should have been made as a trilogy instead as a single stand alone movie.
To be fair my favourite moment is when superman is fighting the other one and he does his ultimate from the first game
You totally glossed over how wonder woman is trying “yes man” Superman so she can get some nookie now that lois is gone
Nightwings death was one of the single most rediculous scenes ive ever seen in a dc property
Love these short reviews. And would def love a review of the MK animated films. planning on watching those soon😁.
12:08 Flash doesn’t die at all in Injustice, Joe 😂
Exactly he was in the injustice 2 game
He clearly didn't read the comics and just played the game.
It's weird how he's pretending like he did read them..
The DCAMU is so good, you should review the whole series.
Flash movie and the Dark Justice league are the top cake
No it isn't. DC Animation is overrated
@@psychobillynumbnuts1 cool, I didn’t ask you nor was I talking to you.
Under the red hood still the goat to me
10:20 i love how passionate aj is about Superman and recommending the animated series set
I didn't think anything could top how stupid Nightwing's death was in the Injustice comics but by god they did it, I could only laugh about the deaths of Flash and Cyborg.
I'm glad you reviewed a DC animation movie it was dope to see you do this review
This could've been a fantastic animated series.
The movie has only 10% of the whole injustice story😭😭😂🙄🤦♂️.
@@lazerbeamspewpew4728 I'm aware of that.
Which is why I'm sad they didn't make it a mini series
It's basically a bootleg Invisible. Uninspired.
So the best way to watch this movie is to take some of the key scenes and the ending and splice them with the cutscenes from the Injustice 1 and 2 games. Sounds like an interesting idea.
DC taking Ls as usual. They've been pop culture's punching bag since 2016. Even South Park had to make fun of their failure.
I wonder who they are managed by🤦♂️🙄…
Dc and marvel taking some Ls
Animated DC very rarely takes Ls, this movie is an exception being a mess rather than the norm for their movies.
@@Longshanks1690 Animated DC movies have been hit or miss for a while now. They were always knocking it out of the park before the new 52 movies tho. But the current ones go from okay to completely just downright awkward to watch. I haven't watched Long Halloween yet tho.
You don't know how long I've been waiting for your review
Please review the old DC animated movies like Under the Red Hood, The Dark Knight Returns, Justice League Crisis on Two Earth or Superman vs the Elites, the old standalone movies before the Flashpoint movie were all outstanding and much better than the current DC animation, with better story, writing and animation.
Damn Joe, had me worried with the Bieber tweet but knew something was up haha. Love this channel
I hope this isn’t just gonna be complaining that Superman shouldn’t act this way lol.
Nah, it's just a genuinely bad adaptation.
@@dixonb.tweenerlegs4225 Agreed, but we know how Joe can get about Superman lol but he was actually fair and objective about the movie, and it’s real problems, so I give huge credit for that and am glad my original comment was unfounded fear. 😅
Injustice is simply a trainwreck mess of an adaptation💩
WB Animation should've just made a 2 Part or 3 Part adaptation of Kingdom Come. I can't believe that WB Animation still hasn't adapted Kingdom Come🤦
@@dixonb.tweenerlegs4225 Amen.
Thanks for this review, Joe. I never knew that they made and Injustice movie. I still play the game so much as my favorite characters; Lobo, Scorpion, Bane and DoomsDay. But thank you for this review and spoiler, Joe.
I rock with you to the point where I even watch your advertisements Joe🤣🤣🤣✊🏾
“Dreams save us, dreams lift us up and transform us into something better. And on my soul, I swear that until my dream of a world where dignity, honor, and justice are the reality we all share, I’ll never stop fighting… EVER”
This is my favorite quote and it goes through my mind every time I see an evil Superman and I’m a little saddened that most people see Superman as a relic with nothing to contribute these days because he is the perfect version of what a good person should be.
MoS = Murderer of Steel
It’s because it was left as the last option it was a justifiable execution and the very reason why Clark didn’t want to kill anyone anymore as the basis for his no kill rule. And Clark wasn’t serious, he was human.
@@stephenstrange5663 thats so fuckin stupid though, killing zod would be more practical and even more humane. Trapping him in a hell dimension for all eternity is even worse than killing him
God I remember when The game first came out back in 2013 when I was in junior high. I would kill to relive those days again.
I just watched it today, it was ok
You only got 10% of the actual injustice story😂😂..
No Aquaman fight, no Kalibak fight, No solar flare rush to kill the parademons on earth, no black canary grieving over Oliver. NO ALFRED TALKING SHIT TO THE STRONGEST BEING WHILE SERVING TEA? This should've been a multi-part series. I really hope they revisit this in some way again.
My man
I miss Joe with bangs! This hair is wild😩
Spoiler alert: it was a complete insult to the comic
When I comes to the animation.. I couldn't stop looking at everyone's knuckles.
DC = Disappointment Confirmed (created by dark edgy lord nerds)
I'm glad to know that DC's Animate Universe is having the needed attention, it deserves, the best characterizations and stories come from the animations.
They should have done a movie for each year, I would love to see year 2 and 3 get fleshed out.
Please do more movie reviews with Alex and OJ I just found your channel and I already binged your whole movie review playlist
I like how you suggested another series to check out lots of people will not give suggestions on what is interesting versus what they didn't like. 😊
17:45 That happened in the comics originally, and then Superman forced Cyborg to delete his entire database to erase the video from existence.
That was the last straw that made Batman and Lex resort to the multiversal solution, its the last issue of the comic that lands us in the first game plot.
That fake smile at the end Joe lmao! xD "Classic"
BR AN.
I'd keep the spoilers sections in the vlog reviews. I have zero intention of watching pretty much any of these anyways but I love listening to you talk about them. So the spoilers section is the only way I get to learn what happens.
Yes joe please review other DC animation films I’ve always would’ve liked it if you would’ve done it!!!
one of the best IMHO scene in this movie was the chess superman and terrific played, i dont know if its in the original but it was well placed and well thought
