the original was just so much fun. I would hope this too be a good send up, i didn't expect it too surpass it, honestly, the OG was lightning in a bottle.
The original was fun but this one is as good if you ditch the "classic is better" mentality. The original has too many movie continuity error and I don't think I caught too many from this one. The OST of the original is unbeatable though.
I saw the original Twister when I was 6. After the movie was over, we walk out into one hell of a thunderstorm. On our way home, we ended up hydroplaning and nearly crashed into a semi. I would like to thank that experience for a fear of tornadoes that enraptured me through my entire childhood.
I would normally agree about the lack of romance in movies today, but the final scene made up for it. I don’t remember the last mainstream that ended on a “cute” romantic moment like that
The original Twister was my very first DVD! I remember watching it so much not only because I loved the movie, but I was in awe with the power of DVD, LOL.
Main character was making a lot of stupid decisions, but the script kept telling the audience she was so smart. Movie was ok. Better if you saw it for free
🎯🎯🎯🎯💯 I thought it was just me... I had no problem with the cast but KATE's character arc was not resolved in a satisfying way... Her struggling with the guilt or her friends dying plus her ambition to tame a tornado seemed to have been abandoned by the final act... I mean even Tyler had a decent arc where by the end he put a hold on filming everything for TH-cam in order to genuinely try and tame a tornado, putting his ego aside for that... Even Javi had a redemption arc and chose the route that helped masses rather than the corporate employer he had.
@@captmaverickable Kathleen Kennedy... Not surprised... I found it jarring that Kate had to be the one to drive and save the day... I have no issue with a woman saving the day, but everything about the movie set up Tyler as the superior driver in a tornado and Kate was hands down the superior storm navigator... The final act should have had them both working as a team to tame the tornado and then Tyler just manage to drive them out by the skin of their teeth... Also Kate should have had a moment to trust her judgement and understand that if people chasing a storm alongside her understand the risk...
The problem is the lack of creative originality, and thus writers and producers are constantly "saving" stuff for future movies (hoping there'll be one) rather than making a fully fledged first entry and then coming up with new ideas for a sequel.

In the end, it seems that most of the complaints about this film in particular, and films in general, are that the film they watched doesn’t meet their preconceived expectations-which is kind of unfair because should just judge the film for what it actually is, not what it lacked in their mind.
This movie was so weird. The original with Jan de Bont was so riveting. It had the romance between Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt but it wasn't forced. And it was not the focus of the movie. This movie was all about the relationship between Anthony Ramos, Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones. And the sound and lighting on this movie was terrible. I almost wanted to ask the movie theater to turn the sound up because it was waaayyy too quiet during the action scenes. But when the credits started rolling with the outro music it was louder than the rest of the film!!
I was 14 as well when Twister came out. I saw it in the theater twice, once with my parents and another time with my friends. I swear that movie made Dodge trucks the IT thing to drive for a few years. My parents even ended up buying a Quad Cab Dodge Dakota a couple of years later. lol.
I'd seen the first in a great theater, massive screen, great projectors and sound, and it was a kick in the pants. That option is now gone sadly, so many miles away now...
My mum made me watch this in 4k instead of watching Inside Out 2. At first i thought it would be horrible, but it was amazing and it deserves more than 7/10.But i got angry when Kate and Tyler never got together
There is romance and it was quite refreshing to not see the two leads making out in the middle of a natural disaster. I don’t need to see the physical aspect of every relationship on screen, the emotional one was fully out there and it served its purpose of making us care about the characters. If I got into a fistfight with a tornado, my first thought after it wouldn’t be: well let’s get to fucking.
3:47 I agree about movies these days shying away from anything romantic in them. My problem is that when they do have romance, it's almost always instant hookups and raging sex drives instead of earned friendship and growing attraction. Considering that the entire relationship between Kate and Tyler ( which starting with them as rivals) only occurred over the course of a WEEK, I really like that they didn't go right to swapping spit and taking their clothes off. It was a form of storytelling that focused on two people going from rivals, to friends, to romantic interests, without feeling rushed. Yes, I absolutely wanted to see them kiss. But the fact that the movie left me wanting more, was rather delicious.
As far as special effects are concerned, the small details of Twiters are much better than Twister in 1996! When the tornado in the movie Twisters occurred, the surrounding large trees and grasslands in the distance were shaking, which truly showed how strong winds swept the earth. When the tornado in the 1996 movie occurred, the nearby trees and grass were not shaken. Yes, for me, who often watches real tornado documentaries, this is really unreal. As far as the plot is concerned, there are some flips in the middle of Twisters. The characters in the play go from misunderstanding to understanding each other, from opposing positions to working together. In addition, there are also touching plots. In the first scene, the heroine lost her classmates and friends in the storm and came out sad. I almost cried...😢 Finally, evacuation knowledge was introduced into the film Twisters. How to protect oneself on the spot when there is no underground shelter room was also shown in detail in the film, which served as a demonstration and education.

Personally this movie doesn't need a romantic subplot. Cause the way I think of it, if Daisy's character and Glen's character meet with no prior past history, they need time to build chemistry. Sometimes it can't just be instant chemistry like what Hollywood wants all the time. So I disagree with you about the romantic subplot. As a matter of fact, you mentioned the 90s disaster movies like Volcano which did have a romantic sideplot and that completely didn't work mainly cause it was odd having some relationship between Tommy Lee Jones and Anne Heche.
Considering on the set of the original, the director punched a crew member, causing a mutiny, the cast had to get Hepatitis B shots after an infection scare, and their star, Helen Hunt was raced to a hospital after she got a concussion - mostly from the practical effects...
To be honest, a lot of romance in action movies felt tacked on, especially if the two characters just freshly knew each other during the stressful situation of the movie. Movies like Lake Placid (1999) did the right thing by ending the movie with the two characters going to dinner to know each other more after the events of the movie instead of straight-up kissing or sucking faces. Helen Hunt & Bill Paxton already knew each other _very_ well in the OG Twister so them hooking up at the end after re-igniting their sparks is pretty understandable.
They arealmost always unrealistic in action movies anyway as they are in love after 5 minutes... Tacked on romance have decreased the quality of many good movies.

From the lightning in the sky
As it pass’d me flying by-
From the thunder, and the storm-
And the cloud that took the form

Personally this movie doesn't need a romantic subplot. Cause the way I think of it, if Daisy's character and Glen's character meet with no prior past history, they need time to build chemistry. Sometimes it can't just be instant chemistry like what Hollywood wants all the time. So I disagree with you about the romantic subplot. As a matter of fact, you mentioned the 90s disaster movies like Volcano which did have a romantic sideplot and that completely didn't work mainly cause it was odd having some relationship between Tommy Lee Jones and Anne Heche.
I bet Americans love yet another recycled B-movie... ~sigh~
The lack of physical affection between the two leads had affected black leading men like Denzel Washington for decades.
No romantic sparks fly between character? The intimacy coordinator put the kibosh on that idea.
Twister was an overrated movie. I found more compelling drama watching storm chasers on the Weather Channel.
My mom hated the movie too. I just didn’t care for it
Some people have poor taste. It's okay. I forgive you.
Considering on the set of the original, the director punched a crew member, causing a mutiny, the cast had to get Hepatitis B shots after an infection scare, and their star, Helen Hunt was raced to a hospital after she got a concussion - mostly from the practical effects...
No romance?!!!? I'm so sick of that
To be honest, a lot of romance in action movies felt tacked on, especially if the two characters just freshly knew each other during the stressful situation of the movie.
Yeah, as people these days are losing sight on what it means to be human.
There is no romance in this movie because the leads aren't two women. That's where we are in Hollywood, now.
Name one mainstream blockbuster that had two female leads with romance between them?
Nice username
@@charleslebi7297 No.
@@pesky716 Thanks. Someone once called me a "Fat Northern Bigot" in the comments section for expressing a trivial opinion on an old, 80's microcomputer. It was so ridiculous I made it my username, just for fun. Some people don't get the joke and take the username at face value, which means they think someone with bigoted opinions recognises themselves as such, advertising it to the world via their username. I thought people were more intelligent than that. I was wrong.
@@charleslebi7297 that movie would be called "Bound" released in 1996
Romance? With a handsome cis white male?? How dare you?!
If I hear this one shoves climate change down our throats, then I’d skip this one.
Yeah. Climate changes happened when only 10 people lived on the planet too.
