Who else was freaked out when Annie turned into a cyborg?
Most terrifying thing I'd ever seen at that time.
So messed up! Saw it in the theater and my brother who was 4 had to go sit on my mom’s lap.
Gave me nightmares as a kid.
That and watership down freaked the hell out of me when I was younger.
Me and Dick Jones were freaked the fu*k out when we first saw that.
I dunno, there’s a lot to like about this movie. Reeve is still amazing, the chemical plant sequence, Lana Lang, Webster, the Superman vs. Superman fight, the giant supercomputer set is awesome, RoboVera, the Atari made video game sequence, and even Richard Pryor has a lot of funny moments. The only truly TERRIBLE Superman movie is Part 4.
If you just tweak a few things tone down the silliness make Richard Pryor a cameo turn Vaughn into Brainiac.
you'd have a pretty damn good movie
The fight between Evil Superman and Clark in the junkyard, the supercomputer finale, and Lana were my favorite moments.
The fight was the only good thing about the whole thing. Donner should of directed it
*have not of
You’re all washed up Kent!!!
@BodyOpt I always wonder if these people try typing would've and should've and just go with the autofill. My devices autocorrect to it without typing the apostrophe. I don't believe these people were never corrected that it's short for "have" and not "of," they know what they're doing, they just insist on doing things their way and shouldn't be trusted.
Great scenes, belonged in a better movie. The supercomputer set and Ross Webster's Bond-villan office were truly Ken Adam standard, and that's really saying something.
Fun fact: Lorelei, Webster's assistant is Pamela Stephenson, from Not The Nine O'Clock News, and married to Billy Connolly. Wouldn't it have been great to see The Big Yin do a cameo?
Had this on VHS as a kid, recorded off TV. Watched it a ton and always loved it.
Same
Christopher Reeve scared the shit out of me when he got pissed off during the junkyard fight
What an actor!
He essentially played three roles in the same film, yet still no award nominations.
He saved the movie from being a total disappointment. Reeve's scene with Annette Otoole are the best moments of the film. If they focused on their relationship and axed the computer thing, it would have been a much better movie in my opinion because they're chemistry was so great together.
Same here.
Yeah, that look on his face when he blasted through the wall and wrapped his fingers around his evil counterparts neck was epic!
RIP Christopher, Richard and Margot 😢🙏🙏🙏
Jackie Cooper, Annie Ross, Robert Vaughn, all gone too. Although all had much, much better innings.
AND Richard Pryor!
@@ladkatta they said Richard......
@@matthewnicholas6365The comment was edited, so it's not totally unbelievable that the op added "Richard" after being called out about it
@@akbarshabazz-jenkins7847 timeliness matter
It was way better than Superman 4 and Superman vs. Clark in the junkyard was awesome
Says truly nothing, absolutely.
Yeah, but superman 4 had the headline Superman says "drop dead" to kid
@@joebrown4165Terribly sad really, unquestionably.
I will always rail against popular opinion with Superman III - I bloody love it. There, I said it. ❤
I remember watching this and saying to myself that Superman has gone off the deep end. Then I saw Superman 4 and thought part 3 wasn't that bad😂
Executive Meddling absolutely, brutal.
Exactly, this one’s a masterpiece next to #4!!!
@@BodyOptEver Diminishing Returns, unquestionably.
Totally agree with you
I liked Supeman 4 but I was 10.
Maybe I was just the right age, but superman 3 is the one I remember the most. I know all the parts so it must have been my favorite.
and then after superman 4 Christopher reeve got crippled and for the rest of his life could never move anything except his mouth to talk and eat😭😭
poor poor man got taken Advantage of by IBM they took his money and gave him nothing in return😭😭😭😭😭
Besides scaring younger kids when the woman got wrapped up in those wires and made a robot. I will never forget that part.
Besides....what?

What happened to Superman 4? One word...CANNON.
SuperMan IV: The Quest for Cash…. Erm I mean Peace 😏
I like that movie now. Didn't for most of my life. But that era of movies isn't coming back and if you liked the first 3, it's nice to get just one more that looks like it's from that era. Ninja Turtles 3 is the first movie that changed my mind about it in this way. What I mean is, these aren't good movies, but they're not boring, and if I had the choice to wipe them from existence I would not. My rating is "I'm glad Superman 4 exists."
@tommyhatcher3399 I agree. It's nice to re-watch old sequels that maybe at the time seemed like trash. But with the benefit of time are now like new watching a new movie but 40 years later. This recently happened to me with the Pink Floyd album Animals. I'd never really given it a full listen. But suddenly it's like a new release to me, and it's awesome
Golan-Globus….they got greedy …Chuck Norris and ninja movies not good enough
Plus the Salkinds that allowed the sale to Cannon.
As a kid and even rewatching this as an adult, I still like the film honestly. I guess it's the generation that matters, because many movies I see nowadays at 42 years old don't seem that great.
Nothing but remakes nowadays
Same age and fully agree
As a kid, I didn’t question anything about this movie. But as an adult, one starts noticing things, like Margot Kidder barely being in the movie, Richard Pryor practically being the star of the movie, Robert Vaughn just being another Lex Luthor, that whole comedic opening etc. But one also notices other things, like Clark Kent being himself when he’s back in Smallville. Christopher Reeve is such a good actor.
facts samehere!!!! 💯🦸🏻
Its a good superman movie.
I like it, saw it as a kid and had a great time
Evil Superman: (Grabbing Clark Kent) “You always wanted to fly Kent, now’s your chance…(Throws Kent)……….Fight in the junkyard….
I loved it as a kid. Mustve watched it a million times.
I liked Superman 3, of course Superman II is the best one of the series.....
Egos ruined everything, unfortunately.
I still remember being so excited to see this and then during the opening credits I just sat there in horror. I was 11.
YEP, then Wonder Woman 1984 basically did the same thing.
The scene when the lady turned into a robot scared the ever loving shit out of me when I was a kid 💀
well be glad that computers of today cannot do that shit to you imagine your ipad turning you into a robot because you made it mad💀💀
I was 4 or 5 years old when I saw this movie in theaters, the cyborg lady at the end freaked me out and I loved it. Today as an adult, it certainly isn't as good as the first two, but part 4 The Quest For Peace was definitely the worst of all four films.
Forever Immortalized in office space
The only III reasons to watch SUPERMAN III:
1. Scenes with Annette O'Toole as Lana Lang
2. Evil Superman fighting Clark Kent in the junkyard.
3. Annie possessed by the computer and turning into a cyborg robot.
That's it.
4. Brad.
Hmm, think this film has far more to offer than that. The opening fire sequence is awesome. ALL of the EVIL Supes stuff is great to watch. Even the bowling alley and Tower of Pisa scenes have a charm and humour to them.
You forgot a couple more reasons: Lorelei Ambrosia.
All good points
4 - Big tits
Ironically the best scene in this film is as good as any scene of all the films
"Congratulations, old buddy. You're gonna go down in history as the man who killed Superman."
“Uhhh… no!”
Computer woman part was ahead of its time imo
I know Superman III is cheesy...but I love it!
Personally, I enjoy this movie, I think there's a lot to like about it, but I still must ask: how do you cast Richard Pryor, one of the greatest comedians to ever live, in a Superman flick, and not have him play either Toyman or Mr. Mxyzptlk?! There's missed opportunities and then there's... this.
We care ✊
Richard Donner and Tom mankiewicz had nothing to do with Superman 3, they had plans on what they would have done if they had Superman 3, but they were never involved so that information in the video is factually incorrect.
Idcwas, that cyborg scene at the end was pretty awesome.
I like this film
Same
Superman 3 wasn't really that bad?
Yes it was. In fact it was worse. Much worse.
@@goonerlee Nah, now The Quest for Peace was ridiculous.
@@jarmelo2006yep, part 4 was an abomination. Superman 3 still holds up today. I mean, how could anyone not like any movie with Richard Pryor???
@@crazyralph6386 Yeah. 😂.
Especially the Superman vs Superman scene
One of my all-time favourite films.
How to traumatise Gen-X? Oh just have Annie Ross get sucked into a Super Computer and turned into a robot - no biggie. I couldn't watch that scene again until I was in my late 20s after seeing it when I was seven!
Sad to think that Pamela Stevenson-Connelly is the last remaining main cast member left :(
Happy memories
So beautiful ❤ I always liked her from her Not the 9 o'clock news days. She went on to marry my favourite comedian Billy Connolly.
Loved this movie as a kid. Watched it over and over. I understand it's a horrible movie but I can't stop loving it because of the nostalgia and memories I have because of it.
Evil Superman vs Clark still holds up pretty well in my opinion!
Always thought it was a pretty original idea that the FAKE KRYPTONITE made him evil.
I couldn't tell you the issue or anything but I think the comics had red kryptonite (unique effect) which did something similar. I vaguely recall something like this from when I was a kid.
Find better memories to tie a BAD movie (Superman III) to.
Forget to say Richard prior 's character was going to be Braniac, human Identity in one version of the story and he was secrecy in love with supergirl too
The original story idea sounded much better, but it’s all in execution, so I don’t know how that would have turned out compared to this movie
Superman 3 is a masterpiece.
Ah, hang on, I’m just comparing it to number 4. Still though…it is worth watching for Kent vs evil Supes!! Reeve played that perfectly.
Ngl I love the drinking scene between Brad and Pryor
Comedy gold brother
“Sling! Singapore sling!”
@@GregsGameRoom “There’s vokkkaa in it now, buddy”
Every scene with Brad rules.
Nobody puts vodka in a Singapore Sling.
I love this movie!
The first Superman movie was in theatres I think, at the same time as Star Wars; then I distinctly remember in-person seeing Superman III in theatres when Star Wars Return of the Jedi was in theaters. I went to see Return of the Jedi at the theater, and noticed Superman III was also playing as well, wishing I could have seen it then also..
It's better than 4 and at least there's a different villian situation.
All of these movies are pretty light and have very family friendly feel.
The Bizarro rendition is actually quite well done for what they had to work with.
Robert Vaughn's talentless, seriously.
@matthewdaley746 oh come on. His character here is not deep but this is NOT a deep story.
@@Stryker20008Gene Hackman's better, unquestionably.
Well Superman 3 is the one I rewatched the most as a kid. The end sequence with the supercomputer got lots of rewinds!😎
Evil Superman was intense. "C'MAHN!!"
that pronunciation of our favorite 5th dimensional imp....also Dudley would've been great
So what you’re saying is that Warner Brothers has been screwing over Superman and it’s Directors for a long time?
Superman 3 was decent . It just happened to follow the absolutely incredible Superman 1&2 and was forever in their shadow
FRANK LANGELLA AND ALLAN ALDA would have been great villain choices!!!
Superman III (1983)
Box Office: $801.3 million

I love this movie.
Superman 3 a guilty pleasure movie, 100 time better than Superman 4

But I am a Richard Pryor fan.
Crazy unrelated but I had heard about that guy's real life story and it was so tragic yet amazing at the same time R.I.P. 😢😭😞
Role's, considered, "cursed," apparently.
"That guy"???
@@liokaizer1662Christopher Reeve really, unquestionably.
I still prefer this movie to most modern comic movies
I never understood why they cut Pamela Stevenson's line "It's a computer". It added a bit of depth to her character and her quick "I mean, a hairdryer" was a good turnaround.
It’s crazy how bad this movie’s ratings were, but it has a special spot in my heart for me. I loved it as a kid.
Love this film!
I love when he gives the last photo to the kid. He loved the people.
I have always really liked Superman 3. It isn't as good as the first two but it's still great in my opinion. Now part 4 is a piece of dung.
Superman 3 is one of my favourite Supermen movies.
That Return of the Jedi shot WAS NOT in the 1983 version of the film
Return has been farted about with so much, I don't know what was original anymore apart from Nib Nob.
It's 'Mix-Oh-Plix'
Mix-oh-piz-a-Lix
According to the Superfriends cartoon, it's Mitt-zull-plick
th-cam.com/video/6EKiHzdWX8g/w-d-xo.html
Not saying, that's canon, but it should count for something.
I actually do love this one...
i LOVE these reviews! subscribed!
This was literally one of the very first movies I ever saw in a theatre, and to this day I still remember that terrifying cyborg/lady scene like it was yesterday.
The scene in Superman I where Clark is saying goodbye to his Mom, the score and sweeping shot of the wheat field …fantastic.
Atari also re-used sound effects from their Pac-Man port in the computer scene
Well, that would be the movie’s sound editor who did that, not Atari. But those sound effects got used every time a video game appeared in a movie. Kinda like the Wilhelm scream.
@@GregsGameRoom that’s interesting. Are there any other movies you’ve heard them in?
When I was a kid and seen this movie and Vera was turned into a robot was pretty cool. Loved Christopher Reeves as Superman. Of course, is father was a fun superman on the TV series.
6:56 I love the colors on this set. This whole movie has great production design, if nothing else.
The producers didn't understand their audience or their character, and likely were antagonist towards it and them.
I like superman 3 because of Prior
This was the first “grown up” movie I went to the cinema to see, like, that wasn’t made for little kids. I loved it. Got the VHS tape and even some board game based on it.
“They did it in Superman III” 😂
My favorite moment in Office Space.
While this movie was an utter disaster, because of those evil Superman moments, Christopher Reeve managed to effectively portray nearly the entire human spectrum in just these three Superman movies!
You had to have grown up with this movie to really appreciate it. As a kid who saw Richard Pryor in his early movie roles, I loved this movie. This holds a nostalgic place in my heart as far as movies go. If you were watching it for the first time as an adult I get what you’re saying. But growing up with Atari games, comedy movies and the like, this is much more of a kids movie than the originals.
I loved Superman 3!! It is for kids for heavens sake.
Seriously? I love Superman 3. I love the story with dark Superman and everything with Lana. As a kid, the final battle gave me nightmares.
Superman 4 was the worst! If you always forget it was made until someone says Superman 4 it was bad mkay!
This was the first Superman movie I watched as a kid, back then I didn't know it had prequels which I watched much later when I grew up, but I loved this movie and still is my favorite Superman movie. I also like part 1 and 2, and didn't even know that part 3 was hated so much! That I found out through TH-cam, the reason why people don't like it, which makes sense, nevertheless it is still one of my favorites also because of nostalgic reasons.
I mean, OK, I can see how much there is to dislike about Superman III but I always loved it. Vera becoming a cyborg haunted me as a kid, and Robert Vaughan does a good job despite what he is presented with. Even Lorelei Ambrosia has some potential, since her ditzy blonde persona is shown to be a cover, albeit only very briefly shown in one scene. But OK, also in the scene were Vera tries to confuse her in the supercomputer and Lorelei simply says "In other words: push this red button." And it has Annette O'Toole as Lana Lang, I mean, c'mon! So, yes, I do like the movie but hearing about the original Salkind plans for Superman 3 and 4 also sounded interesting. I think the El family are Kryptonian nobility so them being a bit distant cousins wouldn't be too weird, all things considered. But yeah, thanks, JoBlo!
Superman 3 was my favourite. The mass hae baffles me. I can understand preferring the original, but 2 was the worst of the 3 in my book. Wha do you mean 4? There were only 3.
I'm from the future.. and they made Joker 2.. Superman 3 is a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned..
When it doesn't have the hype opening credits like the other 2 films, you knew it was fucked from the start.
Tonal, whiplash, seriously, ruinous.
You are kidding.. this movie was great.........
TQFP absolutely disastrous, unquestionably.
Known as one of the first movies to have too much studio interference , during the 70s Directors and the rest of the creative team were left alone to make a film.
Heaven's Gate responsible, unfortunately.
Well, for kids (me) was a good movie. But not the robot woman part, it was really scary
I always have loved Superman III. I saw this as a 13 year old kid. I bought the novel by William Kotzwinkle (Who penned the E.T. novel too) I'm not having any of this. It's great.
One of my favorite movies. I love Richard Pryor and computers and the movie really got me into thinking I'd be a computer programmer and that is my career since 1996.
Gonna be honest, I love that Atari sequence...it looked great for the time and I'd still play the hell out of it now.
Like many who commented about this video, I love this movie when I was a kid. This was the movie that got me started to watch more movies with Richard and his standup comedy shows. Clark vs. Evil Superman junkyard fight scene is still the best!! Superman 3 will always have a place to my heart...no matter what people say negative about this movie
I feel like my feet has been filled with Superman III videos lately which is weird! And that was before I started watching them in the algorithm did start serving them up to me!
Also worth noting that Annette O'Toole who played Lana Lang in this movie, also was a regular on Smallville who played momma Martha Kent.
Both keys... at the SAME TIME??
Memorable scenes here as a kid.
Superman turning Evil
Superman fighting Clark Kent
Cyborg Lady
Well I loved it, I watched it over and over a again as a kid and would happily watch it now.
Excellent episode. Never watched Superman III, like most people. lol.
Only saw part 3 in pieces on cable originally.I remember when it was playing in the theater
Superman 3 is definitely a 5/10 movie, not a total Trainwreck but definitely a painfully mediocre entry with some redeeming qualities
