As someone who leans into more gothic and dark academia vibes i love the way you use texture and moody neutrals to bring in the autumnal feel and warm ambience to your spaces. 🍂🍁🖤
I have been decorating with Black for 20 years now. I love it! Keep the black coming! The people who love pops of color and patterns probably don't have a modern luxury style asetitic anyways. They will continue to shop where they always have.
My Autumn 2024 palette is olive green, nutmeg, cognac leather and wrought iron. I'm a muted earthy gal and the reds and vibrant oranges are a no for me. Dark amber glass is always a staple for Autumn/Winter. I pass on the pumpkins in favor of acorns. I love a few copper accents in the mix. Cozy and grounded replaces the light and airy blues and khaki of Summer.
This is the only video I have seen that embraces all the essences of fall. I definitely love the earthy more organic vibes. It really has a warmth to it. Thank you!!
I love how just a few changes just reinvents your lounge room and makes me appreciate the furniture and rug that you keep all year round even more. ❤ The firewood was making puppy dog eyes at me in the left corner of the screen…
🌾 Wonderful presentation! I’m drawn to your more serious, business- like demeanor as opposed to the more giggly, loose style. Just an observation- you’re fabulous and well- informed no matter what! 🪘🕋🕯️
I treated myself to a new woolen blanket last week. In the summertime, I use a thin down duvet on my bed. I have a thick warm one for the winter, but we are not there yet, so on top of the the from duvet, I got "Klippan" blanket, a swedish brand, so soft, 100% lambswool. So versatile also, I had my friends over for a girlsnight in my greenhouse. and how cozy it was, fire going on the stove, and wrapping wool blankets over your legs. Making memories for the long winter to come. 🥰
I have limited myself to just a couple of pumpkins and they are all in a neutral shade and gathered in one space, like a nice wooden bowl. I am also leaning more towards the warmth of the season and I also can't stand the orange, red, and traditional fall-colored leaves. I also can't get rid of my greenery, it's so classic to me. I have just reduced it and used dark greens.
Fall is my favorite! These ideas are so helpful especially for those of us that love the quiet luxury style. Traditional fall shades of orange can be challenging to work with. These ideas show us ways to get the look and feel without having to compromise the style we love. TFS
I loved this video. We have different styles and your suggestions meant that I can bring-in the Autumn feeling just thinking about colour palette, cosiness, decadence etc but still keeping to my own style. Excellent. Thank you.
Im comment 18… wow! Not sure what to say now… lol. Love your content Valentina, I’ve been here for I think 3 years or so. I don’t use Modern pieces but I still get so much from you tips and tricks and do love many things you share and I purchase! Ty
Valentina, love the video. Can you please do a video recommendation of scented free candles free from allergens? I’d be interested in hearing about the process of having the look without getting sick from the scented candles 🕯️. Thanks in advance
I love this video. Inexpensive “seasonal” decor changes for me include: 1) open shades and windows for max light and to see the outdoors. Nature is beautiful-changing leaves, cooler northern skies… all great. Let nature views decorate. :) 2) declutter and tidy. Remove things that distract your eye and take up unnecessary space. Eg: Donate old magazines, remove the pile of shoes by the front door in favor of closed shoe storage, dust the hvac grates, vacuum, get rid of the stuff that’s accumulated on your entry junk console or on your stairwell. If you need hooks to lift up surface clutter like coats and bags, do that-decorative metal Command 3M hooks are amazing for folks who don’t want to commit to drilling holes in the wall (fyi, our metal tone command hooks have lasted 12 years, easily, even when holding heavy school backpacks, and they’re still going strong). Seriously, decluttering is the best ever-season decor tip. 3) Add warm dimmable mood and spot lighting. Bring out the candles. I sometimes have a fire phobia w little kids, so rechargeable led flicker lights are great. Add spot lighting accents behind plants, and art lights above your most treasured wall art (find battery opp options, apply w strong but removable 3m command strips if you’re not ready to commit). All this brings in cozy indirect light to complement or substitute for a crackling fireplace. 4. Add nice throws. Tis the season for drafts and snuggles. Any throws should be pretty and probably neutral and made of natural materials from blends of cotton, flax and wool. I like everything to be washable. Personally I’d stay away from faux fur. 5. Avoid theme-y seasonal tchotchkes and patterns. If you have young kids, they might appreciate one or two items like this, but otherwise keep to a minimum. We apply black crow cut outs to the exterior w double-loops of painters tape, and that’s pretty much it. They stay up through my region’s very rainy fall and late fall season. (I totally lied. My kids like the battery-opp motion sensitive drop down spiders and life size skeleton for Halloween, and I let them stay up for a week. On Nov 1, *poof!*, theyre gone. :)) 6. As a scent sensitive person, I stay away from scented candles, but neutral tea lights are great. Food kitchen cooking smells are divine! So if my spouse isn’t cooking for guests, the house really just smells clean and neutral because we vacuum and clean regularly usually w just soap and water. Honestly, most candle scents are a no-go for me, and any plug ins are 100% of the time actually intolerable. :( Even if they are marginally ok on their own, they can compete w cooking smells and then I’m really queasy. :( I wish this wasn’t the case for me, I feel like I’m missing out. 7. Start a holiday gift-receiving and savings wish list. What broken furniture or decor needs replacing? (We need to replace our crooked and discolored cheapo shades; time to upgrade). What little fix-its do you need done? (We need to do some spot patching and color-matching of existing walls that we don’t want to fully repaint). What have you been putting off that might be a nice self gift? (I’d looove to repaint the master bedroom, I dislike the color we inherited and I’ve lived with it for 14 years!). Then see if you can gift these to yourself on a timeline that makes sense to your busy-ness and budget. I don’t add “seasonal” china or glassware or pillows or art or anything like that. All the daily basics are for year round, and I rarely replace. I don’t have the room to store a lot of stuff we don’t use all year, and we have to be pretty brutal about saying no to maintain manageable inventory levels of holiday decor. Those are my thoughts :)
I’ve come back to rewatch this video and it’s really made me think about how I’d like my house to be. Thank you for doing this ‘season’ palette and I’m looking forward to other ‘season’ palettes being discussed more frequently. I enjoy this season palette and my youngest keeps pulling out a dress she wants me to wear with all of the elements you’ve shown today. It’s given me courage to stand firm and say what I like and to exclude the excess. Would also like some suggestions and examples on how to label drawers in an elegant manner as it is very helpful for my family of six to know what’s in a place without upending it and to know where to put it back. Love your work.
Always love your videos, I love the way you guys are such a close family ( including Louie❤) I’m really loving your fireplace. You inspired me to paint mine black, but it’s too shiny and black. Yours is a much nicer almost charcoal color. What color did you use. And which finish? Please share 🥰
Oh my gosh! I just found and purchased last night two cashmere/wool throws in the color Walnut from Brooklinen!!! Great minds think alike! I cannot wait to receive them. I plan to place them on the accent chairs in our master bedroom!
This just must be my favorite video of yours yet, Valentina! Thank you for making the end of summer (it was a great one) exciting! PS I'm looking everywhere for the ring with the black stone you're wearing--clues?
Great video! Im definitely using the same color palette 🎨 😅 and just like you, i don't really like orange and red leaves in the fall for decor. Although, deep dark burgundy caught my eye this season ❤
Thank you so much for all of your insight and incredible eye for sophistication. This video was awesome! valentine, can you please share where you purchased the flaming candle/light fixture that is featured in the dining room? It looks like flames bursting in a glass surround. Thank you so much from a long-time subscriber. Kelly
They’re actually indoor/outdoor “fire pits.” Valentina listed the Indoor and Outdoor Portable Tabletop Ventless Fire Pits (large and small) in her “Fall Home” collection. The Fall Home collection is pinned to the top of her House of Valentina Amazon Shop. Fun!
We just redid the flooring in our very large laundry room and painted the walls Benjamin Moore White Dove. When the space is finished, I will decide if White Dove is what I want the rest of the house painted. It's fun to see it in your fall palette!
@@HouseofValentina We put in Tranquility LVP in Copper Ridge Oak. It's what we put on our main floor five years ago, and we had some left over, so we just went with it. It doesn't read reddish in our house at all, but it does when I take a picture of it. 🤷♀️
For the moss added to bowls, are you filling it completely with moss? Or are you using something else on the bottom and then layering the top with the moss? Thanks in advance.
Are you talking about the large hurricane glass candle on the coffee table? If so, Valentina listed the Indoor and Outdoor Portable Tabletop Ventless Fire Pits (large and small) in her “Fall Home” collection. The Fall Home collection is pinned to the top of her House of Valentina Amazon Shop. There are two sizes. You can see both lit in the dining room part of the video. Very cool.
I have a question about candles…… does anyone get headaches or have their eyes burn from scented candles? It’s almost like an isopropyl alcohol smell that lingers. I can’t figure out where it comes from but I think it’s candles. I buy good candles , but I draw the line at $40 candles.
