Yeah, ours would have made us stop and then made a scene so everyone in the audience would wonder 'What the hell is his problem?'. At one of our concerts he made us restart a song because somebody messed up.
I assume this is their band's meme song, ours is Holiday (#26 in our book) We have a shirt that says "things only band kids understand," and for one of them it's legit just "26"
I recognize that guy.... Mr Lowe! He was assistant band director for us at Lake Zurich High School back in 1999. Is this at Loyola University in Rogers Park?
Our band pranks were taking the practice field tower down and putting into the band directors front yard all setup. Then to top it all off we would hike the back end of his car onto the sidewalk curb were he parked at the entrance to the school. That was a 8 inch rise and for a small car that already sat low to the ground it did cause a bit of damage to the rocker panels. We did stop doing the car prank after we learned about the damage and a couple of the auto body students made the repairs.
Am I the only band kid here who has no idea what this song is? I can only assume the prank was playing a different song than what he called for but I've seen that 100 times
This song is called "25 or 6 to 4" by Chicago. The framework of this song is just "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" by Led Zeppelin, which was released 1 year earlier. The LZ song is absolutely ridiculous it is so good.
We did this in church. We all opened to different pages to play then gradually one at a time get “frustrated” by the cacaphony, throw our books in the air, stomp off stage until the only guy left was the tuba player who had been doing the A&W theme song and left with the Imperial March. Shocked music pastor couldn’t get it together again to lead the congregation. We would also play random Christmas music slowly and romantically during the preludes to see if anyone caught on.
My marching band did this at one of our football games this season, we spent about five minutes just trying to plan and get everyone onboard without the director noticing. I think she cut us off on the third measure, but the look on her face was worth it
I love how he went “[confusion]...you guys.....eh this works, not bad.” And just went along with it lol

In American colleges / universities they’re called band directors not conductors
A lot of times pep band books have two songs to a page, so #40 would be on the bottom right of that book.

Nice pic
So we can agree the director lost his soul a long time ago, right? I mean look at his face
He was trying sooooo hard NOT to look at everyone.
Yeah he looked dead
Nah! He was pretty pissed that they switched songs behind his back, which anyone would be!
