Thanks a lot for the explanations and the video. There is no calibration check in the settings at all and when you roll out on a runway plane starts to go one direction even tough rudder set up should be OK with the hardware I am using in MSFS 2020 😄 Such a joke that Microsoft and Asobo put together another Map Simulator instead of a decent Flight Simulator. Setting a profile in any of the categories you create as default assigns that profile to the plane you're working in. So, as an example, a HC Bravo profile called "GA single prop with mixture" in the Airplanes category can be set as default to planes where that makes sense (GA planes with a throttle and a mixture lever eg C172), and it will load when you get in a plane where assigned as default. If, on the other hand, i get in the A400M, that profile would not be assigned as default and as such would not be loaded. Assign to all would, of course, assign a profile to all planes.
Well explained mate ! It is much clearer now :) I've just installed FS2024, didn't want to rush at day 1. The new SIM has potential and will be good, just patience :)
Because of many of the reasons you’ve stated, Ive been seriously considering learning Spad.next. If Im going to have to re-learn how to bind controls with a new system, I may be better off using spad
I've been using SPAD for two years. In FS20 I kept most of my keyboard/mouse controls, but had all my other peripheral control profiles blank. I plan to do the same with FS24. On the surface SPAD is not too hard to use. Just know that it's quite deep, and can be quite daunting once you really get into it. Even after using it all this time, I still consider myself an 'advanced beginner.' Having individual profiles for each plane in SPAD is a godsend. It's nice to see that FS24 is adopting that model as well.
Thanks Mark. Another interesting video. Are you able to advise on hierarchy of the three sets of profiles? Does a setting in Specific override one in Aircraft and again in General or must one be careful not to have conflicts across levels?
Thank you Mark, I was waiting for this. What a terrible implementation. It's hard to believe it's the same developer that did MSFS2020 UI. And perhaps it's not. Perhaps MS outsourced this, away y from Asobo, somewhere cheaper. I'm hesitant to configure all my peripherals at this point, because I fear it might be for naught if they do some fixes/changes that break the current one.
Thank you for the video! Will it take time for peripheral to come out? I currently have the logitech radio panel, the realsimgear GNS530, and bravo throttle quadrant.
Can anyone tell me what mouse control setting I should use to be able to move the view around the cockpit? Somehow I've managed to foul things up and the view won't move regardless of which mouse buttons I press. Thanks!
How do I assign a particular configuration to a particular aircraft? I'm guessing you save to the current plane each config you want for that plane. You could make others configurations but as long as they are not displayed when you save, they won't be copied to the aircraft. But these answers are just guesses. If you use "assign to all aircraft" but later find you want to change that for a specific aircraft (ie: helicopter) will the "assign to all aircraft" command allow it?
Hi Mark, I really like and appreciate all of your videos. One question, my Saitek Trim Wheel is listed on the left side of the screen but I cannot make any changes or programming. Any ideas? Thanks, Howard
Thank you Mark for the explanation. A big fan of your videos! I know you fly a lot with VR and I was unable to try and replicate the VR experience I have in msfs2020. Specifically, using the controllers thumb X axis for cockpit knobs interaction to increase/decrease values like heading, altitude etc. The new way of selecting and moving my hand away from the button is neither convenient nor accurate. We're you able to crack that? If so, do you mind having a short video for VR specifically? (I'm using Oculus and I know you use the Pimax but I assume it might be the same...) Thank you!
One item that could do with some clarification is how to delete one of the conflicts in a binding. The delete option deletes the entire list. It would be nice to be able to highlight the one you want to delete, and have the delete option target only that one. Or, having it so that by highlighting the offending binding you get transported to that very binding screen so you can delete it. By having the program delete all, rebinding the button only brings up the conflict number again. Maybe I am missing something in the process?
Recently I have been "binge" watching many of your videos as I really appreciatge the detail you provide on things like this one, Controls in 20204. I am really hoping that you might be able to answer my question on my new 20204 installation of the "Aviator Edition" under Steam on my I9 14900 machine with 64Gb ram and of course, an RTX 4090. It is my mouse that is causing me all my the problems.& making flying anything in 2024 impossible for me. In 2020 I have set th emouse up so the Right click is not used except for Secondary, so I can right click controls in the cockpit and make them respond (radio settings etc) and it all works great, I have the middle button set to provide Freelook (HOLD). In 2024 my mouse sort of works and lets me view around the cockpit, but as soon as I even just stop moving the mouse (even though I still have the middle button pressed down) it returns to straight ahead out of the cockpit all by itself in a sort of controlled pan over perhaps a full second or less. I have tried to edit my mouse settings in 2024, but ALL the fields briefly flash up "Scanning" and then return to normal, giving me no chance to even click any button on the mouse, so that is a complete washout. I really hope you just may be able to give me a pointer as to how to sort this out. I am real,l.y desperate to sort it out, as I have used 2020 for the last xx (too many to count) years, and FSX before that, and I also happen to be a licensed PPL, although now sadly lapsed so would love to have the added realism the 2024 apparently offers. It even does it in Photograpy mode etc, so it is pretty universal across 2024 as far as I can see. and I have an empty community folder so nothing is intefering. Sorry for the long message, but PLEASE, if you can, put me OUT OF MY MISERY !! Many thanks for all your work on your channel, it is a really great resource for flight simmers everywhere. Ian Turner
Mark, I can't thank you enough for your excellent tutorials, and now, especially since the premature release of MSFS 2024. I am new (1 year +) to MSFS, and as a senior citizen of 76 years old, with some learning disabilities, your easy to follow and understand videos are the best of all I've found on TH-cam, in regard to setting up and enjoying Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. Please do keep up the great work sir.
Hi Mark having trouble with my honeycomb yoke got no up elevator reconfigured yoke but still won’t work set on modern even the numbers don’t match ie button 35 dhows up in the controls as button 44. Need help please can’t fly anything. Thanks Larry
good video thanks ! My entire control setup is a mess, does anyone know if there is a RESET TO DEFAULT button to start over? I cannot find one. I think I have to reinstall again just to reset to default
Mark, a hint to pass along regarding the C208B throttle mapping. I use a Bravo Throttle Quadrant and configure "complex singles" throttles by mapping "Throttle 1 Axis" as usual and "Throttle 1 Decrease" for reverse thrust. It worked for everything but the Caravan. The lever did drop into the first detention but no beta response. If one manipulates the lever with the mouse, you'll notice there is now a second detention position that activates reverse thrust. This position was not on the FS2020 version on the Caravan. Simply by trial and error I found that also mapping "Throttle Previous Detent" now works in activating reverse thrust on the Caravan. Don't know why but it works. Also, one has to taxi the new Caravan with the "Fuel Condition" lever (i.e. Mixture) in the "low" position while on the ground. In the high position, the plane taxis too fast and overpowers the breaks.
hi Mark Great video I am having one problem when I was trying to set the control up on the Xbox it keeps getting stuck in the search box and I cannot figure out a way to get out of the search box to be able to move down to the category that are directly underneath the search box any ideas?
I was just trying to assign hide yokes with keyboard assignments. It inexplicably kept setting my mixture to cutoff with any keyboard press. H, Q, W, T, it didn't matter, even when I deleted all keyboard engine controls. No conflicts listed. Cutoff. Then it suddenly started behaving. Then shortly after that, the whole thing crashed to desktop. That's after I gave up trying to fly the six pack C172 because the electrical system is broken. But at least now I know how the control menu is SUPPOSED to work. 😬
Hi, I didn't understand if it's possible to create a personal profile for each aircraft and therefore directly linked to this (like on xplane) or if we can only create profiles for aircraft category and then have to select them each time
would you be able to do a video on how to config rudders so the brakes work right and throttles so the trims and other controls work, also I'm not to sure how to calibrate my yoke and rudders
Hi Marks as always you are a pro when it comes to assigning, binding controls. But when you showed the clear profile bug I think it will work but you always have to go back out the menu's till you see exit and save before any settings are saved, as long you did not save then it did not perform it what you wanted. It's clumsy and time consuming to always exiting the contols menu's and go back in but then is it saved and you can continue.
Very helpful Is your CLS-60 actually doing FFB? I have a CLS-120 and the yoke works, but not FFB. My other big irritation is that my Tobii just barely works.
@@SimHangerFS CLS-120 is working fully now (I followed your suggestion) - I have an issue where the default 172 slams the yoke all the way to the left (and can't move the yoke) upon enabling effects . Other saved configurations work well though.
Even though I save my profile after making changes it resets my controls every time I restart and wont save the profile for that category. It must be some kind of bug. Could be specific to the game pass version of the game.
Hello. I have custom Fenix A320 in MSFS 2024 and I cant to start moving the airplane on the ground. Looks like the chocks still installed! But I dont know how to remove them. Can you suggest anything?
Not sure if you'll know what's causing this but my cockpit camera moves up to the left continuously. I also can't activate cockpit freelook with my right mouse button. I have checked all settings and can't find a fix. Any advice?
Hi Mark . In the columns with indicating which buttons are assigned to each action, where multiple button presses are assigned the column isn't wide enough or doesn't scroll to see the entire entry. Is this a bug or am I not doing something?
I have got most of the settings correct but the rudder pedal settings have me stumped. there are X Y Z axis if you use X and Y axis for the brakes then Z axis for trim there is a conflict in 2020 Z axis is used for both left and right trim with no conflict. When I re enter the plane there is no brakes and no trim. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong.
Going back to 2020 is like going home. It's so much better, and it seems like the graphics are better now too. Maybe integrate the new features into 2020? I hate 2024.
Can people share controller configurations? For example I’d like to set up my yoke the same as my son has his but don’t want to go through the work to program everything again.
Mark thanks for the video. I will need to watch this a couple of times for it to sink in! Mark do you know what the Control listener function on the Hardware settings icon means? Unless it is just me it currently does not appear to do anything. Really slack of Asobo/Microsoft to launch without a complete manual for this software. As far as I can see there are some rudimentary guides and explanations at Microsoft Flight Simulator FAQ but it is very general. I really wish they would take a leaf out of xPlane's control setup procedure that any fool can use.
@@rosscorr I am not sure, but I think it is designed for showing (highlighting) on screen the selected action when a button is pressed etc. I could also be used to show button/axis information on the peripheral graphic perhaps.
Flight simulator 2020, their controls are simple. The ones in flight simulator 2024 I have yet to master. All I want to do is buying controls in the cockpit for certain view angles. In 2020 I have control camera angles that bind for looking straight ahead from the pilot seat, sliding to the right pointing down at the flight computer to program it, one looking straight ahead and zooming closer to the cockpit instruments. In 2024 in the cockpit all you can do is turn left right look up and look down as far as I can tell whereas with 2020 I can slide to the right slide to the left, look down look up and zoom. I would like to know how to do that with the durn new 2024.
Mark, thanks for the video. Could you point me in the direction on using a xbox360 controller in msfs2024? I can not even get mine to show up in the controls menu. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Any idea on how to make the Logitec Flight Panels work in 2024? They still work in FS 2020; so I added the same Plugin and instrument Panel driver that works in 2020 to my 2024 community folder and no sucess. Maybe a good tutorial on your You Tube channel? Stay well and Happy American Thanksgiving eh
So frustrated, I uninstalled FS2020 to ensure I had a clean setup for FS2024 and whilst I have it running, including reasonable performance in VR my efforts to configure any of my peripherals have been a disaster. The new Control panel UI is fine after a few minutes experimenting with it, my issue appears to be having a very large number of bindings to one control, which I suspect is cuasing total PC lockups on occaisons. For example the default Mouse profile lists 19 bindings for the right mouse button. Only 2-3 of the bound buttons seem to work on my setup and multiple button presses usually results in the PC locking up requiring crashing and performing a hard restart. Before I spend any more time on configuring my ageing X56 throttle/stick can someone confirm whether my Logi mouse behaviour is the same for everyone, ie many of the functions assigned to the secondary (right) button do not work or do I have a broader issues with my peripherals?
@ Thanks, just wasted another day trying to figure out whether these are general problems or just my config. I would really like to know if everyone’s default mouse profile has the high number of assignments to the right mouse button?
"These types of videos by their very nature are somewhat boring to watch". Mmmm. I would say when people try to do something that has no instructions or documentation but should be fairly intuitive, and are then faced with .... well, this! these types of videos become must-watch, more than one, and more than once. I've watched a few now, a bunch of them from different creators suddenly appeared all at once, and while the basics are pretty same-same once you go beyond that they are all worth watching because no two are the same and no two explain things the same way.
I'm using my own Keyboard settings. Started scratch. However, for the life of me, I can't seem to save a camera cockpit view and assign it to a view and then use my Hat on my Hotas stick. Is it just me or am I missing something ? And my Tobii5 is not working like it should. Edit: ok after installing a 3rd party software, Tobii Tracker now works.
Cannot get into cockpit of most aircraft. Cam view will only give the rear view on the runway driving me crazy. Pity no online chat groups to discus problems.
@ Many thanks for the reply. Shift-C did not work for me. I found solution in the early hours this morning which involved deleting a file deep inside msfs. I understand something to do with the cloud. Will post if you wish. Now have another problem of the mouse pointer seemingly going behind msfs 2024 screen after a few minutes use. 2024 in windowed mode.
For Xbox users. If you’re using multiple wireless devices with dongles for ( Keyboard, headphones, mouse, etc) they will get swapped unknowingly and cause a nightmare. Do yourself a favor and hardwire everything. You’ll also experience this when using multiple xbox controllers.
Great video But i zoned out after 10mins Life's too short I'm going back to msfs2020 where i can just get on and enjoy myself, that is what it's about at the end of the day
Sorry 2020 for me in the meanwhile, until i can import my bindings so it just works the same as 2020 i will stick with that. Paid for the aviator edition. I was looking forward to playing an updated edition with the same control settings and can't be bothered spending hours on something that just doesn't work with the current settings.

The categories don’t have a hierarchy as they are completely separate bindings…aircraft control and non.
excellent
Thanks!
Really helpful video, Mark (as always!). I was just wondering if you've managed to get your LoupeDeck Live working in 2024 yet?
How do I assign a particular configuration to a particular aircraft? I'm guessing you save to the current plane each config you want for that plane. You could make others configurations but as long as they are not displayed when you save, they won't be copied to the aircraft. But these answers are just guesses.
If you use "assign to all aircraft" but later find you want to change that for a specific aircraft (ie: helicopter) will the "assign to all aircraft" command allow it?
I had the same question! Would have been nice if SOMEONE replied. WTF.
Set as default profile will follow similar aircraft…single prop etc.
@@SimHangerFS Really? That kind of behind-the-scenes categorization is unexpected.
@@kimghanson yes, very useful, if only it worked as intended.
@@reggie90009 I demonstrate this in my recent Bravo setup videos. It only deletes the selected option.

Can u post a video like you did a long time ago for the velocity one? It was amazing and it went through each plane type. Thanks I appreciate you
Mark, I can't thank you enough for your excellent tutorials, and now, especially since the premature release of MSFS 2024.
Thank you for your video👏 Just wondering how fsuipc will work on both 2020 and 2024 same on both hd ?

My entire control setup is a mess, does anyone know if there is a RESET TO DEFAULT button to start over? I cannot find one.
I think I have to reinstall again just to reset to default
@@greenminer255 you can not overwrite the default profiles. Just delete all others.

Thanks, yes I noticed the reverse anomaly myself yesterday. 👍
hi Mark Great video I am having one problem when I was trying to set the control up on the Xbox it keeps getting stuck in the search box and I cannot figure out a way to get out of the search box to be able to move down to the category that are directly underneath the search box any ideas?
I was just trying to assign hide yokes with keyboard assignments. It inexplicably kept setting my mixture to cutoff with any keyboard press. H, Q, W, T, it didn't matter, even when I deleted all keyboard engine controls. No conflicts listed. Cutoff. Then it suddenly started behaving. Then shortly after that, the whole thing crashed to desktop. That's after I gave up trying to fly the six pack C172 because the electrical system is broken. But at least now I know how the control menu is SUPPOSED to work. 😬
Hi, I didn't understand if it's possible to create a personal profile for each aircraft and therefore directly linked to this (like on xplane) or if we can only create profiles for aircraft category and then have to select them each time
@@aspide4799 set as default - eg single prop. It will follow.
sorry, I didn't understand. Can you explain it better?
@@aspide4799 default will follow similar aircraft , eg single props. It is not working fully at the moment.
would you be able to do a video on how to config rudders so the brakes work right and throttles so the trims and other controls work, also I'm not to sure how to calibrate my yoke and rudders
Thanks, I’ll try that💯
Thanks 🙏🏼… and for Tobii… how to configure?

It appears that the trim wheel on the Bravo works in MSFS 2024. Has anyone noticed this or do I still need the Authentikit app ?
Even though I save my profile after making changes it resets my controls every time I restart and wont save the profile for that category. It must be some kind of bug. Could be specific to the game pass version of the game.
Can you now assign the various buttons and rotaries on the GPS units? Previously you had to use SPAD.next, Axis and OH’s and such.

Do you know why the logitech switch panels are not working with 2024
Not sure if you'll know what's causing this but my cockpit camera moves up to the left continuously.

Hi Mark great video... I have one question... do you think is a good upgrade buy Honeycomb Charlie ? I have T rudder of Thrustmaster... thanks
Mark did a review video on the Charlie, you should look for it. But in summary, for this amount of money there are better options.
For my needs I keep the mouse settings on Legacy.
Behold... The savior has arrived!
Mark, thanks for the video. Could you point me in the direction on using a xbox360 controller in msfs2024? I can not even get mine to show up in the controls menu. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Sorry I don’t have that controller
Any idea on how to make the Logitec Flight Panels work in 2024? They still work in FS 2020; so I added the same Plugin and instrument Panel driver that works in 2020 to my 2024 community folder and no sucess. Maybe a good tutorial on your You Tube channel? Stay well and Happy American Thanksgiving eh
Can’t do much. Each time I try to "Delete" a profile or "Apply to all aircraft" MSFS 2024 crashes.
My mouse sensitivity is so extreme as to be unusable, how can I fix this?,
So frustrated, I uninstalled FS2020 to ensure I had a clean setup for FS2024 and whilst I have it running, including reasonable performance in VR my efforts to configure any of my peripherals have been a disaster.
I have had no issues with the mouse
