Seismic Data: A stake through the heart of flat Earth - Episode 1: Pressure Waves

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 9 ก.พ. 2025
  • This video discusses the propagation of pressure waves through a medium. Seismic energy propagation for the flat Earth and spheroidal Earth models are then formulated and compared with real world observations.
    For all seismic events the observations are consistent with the spheroidal Earth model and utterly inconsistent with the expectation for a flat Earth.

    The flat earthers cannot deny a map that puts the North Pole at the centre with latitude radiating in concentric circles getting wider and wider while claiming that celestial navigation works on flat earth. Airlines and shipping companies are navigating around earth every day, so they must have a map that represents flat earth in order to complete the navigation process. And undeniably they know the direction and distances between ports that they travel to,

    • @PhDTony_original
      @PhDTony_original  2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Yes, the AE map at least gets distance from the poles correct for all points on Earth - so that's at least something right - which is better than nothing. But that sort of analysis is beyond them.

    Say for example I have a dense cylindrical object a lead or osmium pipe. Should one strike a flerf with higher density is it possible to determine the transfer of common sense assuming it also follows a wave pattern.

    • @davebritton7648
      @davebritton7648 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, common sense doesn't behave like matter. Bodies of positive common sense attract each other and bond, as do bodies of negative common sense. A body of negative common sense will always repel a body of positive common sense, and vice versa.
      You could strike a flerf with a cylindrical bar made of the same stuff as neutron stars, but for any potential transfer of common sense, unfortunately there will be no positive common-sense already present for it to bond with, therefore it decays into incredulity and dissipates uselessly into the gaps in the flerf's knowledge. The net positive common sense always remains at zero.

      The key factor in determining how tsunamis travel and behave is seafloor geometry (also called bathymetry). If you look at the continental shelf profiles for Eastern Australia and East Antarctica you will see that they have very different geometries. This is why tsunamis are gently redirected by the Australian coastline and just crash into Antarctica.

    • @erykmozejko3329

      @@PhDTony_original I was considering the answer could be related to seafloor geometry (bathymetry-thanks, learned a new word there) Before I start digging round for imaging based on data. I'm curious to see this difference around Antartica. I do remember seeing representations of Tsunami waves as detected by sea surface height compared to an average.
      Could a reasonable explanation be lack of data for the area around Antartica? I know there was a desire to have more sensors across Oceans after the 2004 Sumatra earthquake and Tsunami. By way of an early warning system for populated areas following any under sea events. Now any such resources would be prioritized to areas where advanced warning to those human populated areas are key. Antarctica doesn't have the population to warrant getting that detailed data. Not unless the Penguins have started some research of their own.
      Also I'm not sure if satellite data that monitors sea levels covers the poles in any such detail to capture a tsunami in progress

      Okay, I have found a site for you - because apparently doing your own google search is way too much to expect.
      Here is a movie for seismic waves travelling across the US due to an earthquake in Ohotsk. You will see the waves initially come from the northwest and propagate southeast - after about 60 minutes things will get jumbled and confused and then you will start to see the waves going from the southeast to the northwest - this is the seismic energy that has gone around the far side of the planet. Then at about 120 minutes the jumbling will occur again and the waves will start coming from the northwest once more.
      If you poke around this site you will see lots more examples.

      Instead of looking at the next sunset on a clear sky evening look the opposite direction and explain that dark hue of pink/red/purple growing from the horizon. Then look up the Belt of Venus and you might realize you're looking at the planets shadow or what some of us call the Terminator line from day to night as we rotate away from the suns view because we live on a giant ball with a gaseous ocean of air that refracts light.

    While seismic data is of course one of the best evidences out there to directly proof the earth is a globe, some FEs would probably not accept it because it's hard to do such measurements on your own.
    Though another great thing we have nowadays are interactive lightning maps that record, locate and map out all lighting strikes all around the globe. The great thing about this is, everyone can actually buy or even create the necessary hardware themselfs. The amazing thing about lightning bolts is that they have a unique signature. A single bolt is not just one discharge. There are several lower energy pre-discharges which essentially form the ion channel and some additional discharges after tha main discharge. This signature can be used to identify a certain lightning strike at the various detector stations. Together with the exact time a detector detected the signal, we can actually locate the strikes with e quite high precision. Some bolts are detected by several hundreds of stations.
    On this page you can actually turn on the stations and have animated lines show up when a strike was detected. Those options are hidden in pop-over menus at the top:
    www.lightningmaps.org/
    There are many such systems active and there are open source projects out there, so you can check the code if you want.
    My dad once has a small sailing yacht and he actually build a standalone version (based on a project on the iNet) that uses 4 antennas to actually get a heading for a signal. Based on a rough energy level distribution it calculated the rough distance of the lightning strike. A thunderstorm usually has dozens if not hundreds of strikes per second. So plotting them on a map gives you a good idea where the storm is heading. I've seen this in action several times and it works great. Of course this standalone detector doesn't help to proof the globe, however the networks of stationary detectors do.

      I understand that seismic evidence will not convince flat earthers, that's not my intent. My intent is to educate everyone else so that if they're approached by flat earthers they can slap them down.
      The lightning detector evidence is really cool, thank you for explaining it in so much detail.

    Seismic energy proves a globe ? nice try.. proves nothing except to space bunnies..

      Had you watched the video you would understand that it is not the existence of seismic energy, but the way in which that energy propagates that indicates the shape of the medium through which the waves are travelling.
      But thank you for supporting the algorithm - my channel appreciates it.
