What a project. I've owned Lund, Crestline and Alumacraft. The Alumacraft Trophy 205 I had was by far the best riding, well built out of them all. You can buy a Low hr, 2 yr old 19 or even 20' Lund Pro V, Tyee or Alumacraft Trophy for under $80k. Which is still A LOT of money. But they'll last ya another 25+ yrs with no or minimal troubles. I truly hope when you're done, other issues don't pop up. I also agree with you regarding the Aluminum vs fiberglass for your use. Thanks for sharing the project, hope you get done and back out soon.

Been there nick, replaced my transom on my 22 ft starcraft. Inboard 4 cylinder wasn't that bad to pull.i had to do the same to pull transom up, move everything. Turned out good, less than 300 dollars doing it myself.
Your transom was much better than my 99 Explored. The only wood left was the corners. From 1999 to 2006 Lund used regular plywood. Not marine and not treated at least on some models. I literally vacuumed out 95% of mine. I contacted Lund about warranty and they just blew me off. I love my boat but was dissappointed in their response.
nice work i have a old glass lund its a blast to fish out of. the electronics are 10 times more valuble then the boat. much easier and cheaper to keep the old stuff.and adapt some modern things to it. im interested to see when you paint it and how to go about painting aluminum.
I know why your doing it yourself I priced out replacing my smaller Lund transom it was cost prohibitive! I ended up replacing myself a lot of work but She's solid now. It was amazing how hard it was to unseat old transom to get it out.
Hi Nick, I am going to try to use my electric trolling motor to augment my gas kicker engine. I am curious on how to start this out since I've never done it. Is it a good idea to get the boat pointed in the direction you wish to troll, then get the boat speed just a bit slower (0.1-0.2 mph) than you'd like using the gas engine, then use the electric motor to get the boat up to the desired speed and direction? Once you're there, then use the trolling motor to steer and adjust the speed? Generally speaking does the trolling motor run at a low speed to perform its task? I have a 24-volt trolling motor with the modern features and a boat similar to yours. Thanks Nick!
On my boat for salmon fishing i get the 24volt electric trolling motor going in the direction i want with about 40% power. Turn on the auto pilot. Get the kicker (gas motor) running in gear and in a position that has your boat running straight. Now you just steer with the electric motor and adjust your speed with the kicker. Works well until the seas get over 3ft. I will turn up the power on the electric as the seas build. I'm usually running between 35-80%. I also have my big motor down and connected with the kicker. Good luck when you get out...

Well done, I'd like to do my 02 pro v this spring. But i may wait till next winter.

Hey Nick, What was your experience with the viscosity of the Gflex on your outer skin? Did it run on you before it cured?
I used the Gflex 655. It takes several days to cure but it's thick enough not to run.
What did you use for composite transom? Is it coosaboard? I am trying to redo mine and looking for an alternative to wood

How much would it cost to have transom replaced by a shop?
$5000 ish from what I've seen.
Keep your humminbird on the console for sidescan. My original (2006) humminbird has much better sidescan than my 2020 garmin.
My bird was the first generation 1197 hd. The new garmin 106 ulta with a 56 transducer is a big improvement. Thanks
Nick you should use carbon fill transom solution for your repair. it is awesome and much stronger than fiberglass or metal.
