Since it was mentioned, I would definitely urge anyone who hasn't, to check out B&W movies or just older films in general. There is a lot of great older material and I am grateful that there has been a move to preserve our filmic cultural legacy.
Lost In Space was one of several Sci-Fi programs from the U.S., that I watched & enjoyed as a kid in the `60`s. So, I was delighted when for me, he suddenly reappeared in B5 decades later. Similarly, Walter Koenig from Star Trek TOS in B5 also.
@@RKnights Yes. For real. He was Will Robinson on Lost in Space, did a cameo in the remake of this episode in Twilight Zone: The Movie. And is Lennier on B5.. That "other" show was The Outer Limits. Not like TZ because it was pure science fiction. And sometimes terrifying and prescient by 60s standards. (a sequence in The Mist was inspired by one memorable episode). It was brought back in the 90s for 7 seasons.
It’s a freaking crime more people haven’t watched the Twilight Zone. I grew up on it and I’m only now in college. My grandfather was obsessed with it, my 8th grade math teacher would play two episodes for us every Halloween and we went feral for it. The Twilight Zone deserves more love and recognition.
The Twilight Zone episode is an adaptation of the story, "It's a Good Life" by Jerome Bixby. I had read it before I saw the show and it tied my stomach up in knots because I knew what was coming. In the story, the doctor delivering Anthony at birth realizes that he is a monster, tries to kill him, and becomes Anthony's first victim.
I used to watch them as a kid back in the `60`s here in the U.K., they were shown on a Sunday or Saturday night. You knew they were starting from their iconic theme & you did not want to miss A.H.`s appearances. Needless to say, it made an impact on me & so, I bought the DVD`s a couple of years ago & I am slowly revisiting it all.
"But one day she forgot. She began to sing aloud. Now, the monster doesn't like singing, so his mind snapped at her, turned her into the smiling, vacant thing you're looking at now. She sings no more."
Great Work, Ray! Introducing the younger generations to classics that should not be forgotten. It demonstrates that Good stories >>>> Great special effects. As other commentors already told you, the monster was played by a very young Bill Mumy (Will Robinson - Lost In Space / Lennier - B5). This episode even got a sequel in the 2002 revival series called "It's Still a Good Life" where both Bill Mumy & Cloris Leachman reprise their roles. "It's a Good Life" also got a reboot in "Twilight Zone: The Movie" (1983). You guys know Anthony. He's Bill Mumy. He's best known as William Robinson in the 60's show "Lost in Space". You guys at RKnights know him as Lennier from "Babylon 5".
Try the episode “The Invaders” with famous actress (for the time) Agnes Moorehead. Very little dialog but suspense and a twist. As an old guy who grew up watching the shows, it’s one of my favorite episodes.
They rebooted The Twilight Zone in the 80's with a bunch of episodes written by J. Michael Stracynski and also ones written by George R.R. Martin. The 80's episodes were so full of cheese but it was that special 80's cheese and a lot of the stories were really good. "Dealer's Choice" with Morgan Freeman and a whole bunch of other actors who you might not recognize their names but definitely recognize them, is one of my favorites. Then in the 90’s they rebooted The Outer Limits on Showtime. I used to watch Stargate: Sg-1 on Showtime every Friday night and I'd stay tuned afterwards to watch The Outer Limits. More often than not it was a really good story. It was a real good pairing. The pilot epispde of 90's Outer Limits was a special 90 minute episode, it was an adaptation of a Geroge R.R. Martin short story called "The Sandkings". If you ever watch the Treehouse of Horror episodes of The Simpsons, especially the earlier ones, you’ll see homage/parody/straight up remakes of so many of the classic Twilight Zone episodes! Would love to see you guys react to The Twilght Zone: The Movie from 1983! Best Regards!
TTZ was rebooted in the 80s and Billy Mumy returned as an adult version of the monster. It's a sequel to this that you guys should check out sometime. Also, though the title slips my mind at the moment, HBO had a similar anthology show of thought-provoking tales in the 90s. One of the most popular was "The Space Traders", based off a story about aliens that come to Earth and make a peculiar "trade" with America that was fairly controversial at the time, but would likely be flat out cancelled today. In fact, it's probably not something to watch for the YT channel, but maybe patreon or even off the clock for yourselves. Fun reaction. I really hope you guys do lots more
There were two similar shows that followed the Twilight zone. The first is the outer limits, which is generally considered not as good but has a few episodes that are as good maybe even better. The next is night gallery. It's very similar especially since it was also the creation of rod serling. Again, not considered as good as original Twilight zone, but definitely worth watching
I discovered both the original `60`s Twilight Zone & The Outer Limits when they were reshown on the Sci-Fi channel here in the U.K., I think in the `80`s.
There was a sequel to this episode in the new Twilight Zone series called It's Still a Good Life. Cloris Leachman and Bill Mumy reprised their roles and it also stars Bill Mumy's daughter. One episode I highly recommend is Nervous Man in a Four Dollar room.
There is a follow up episode to this on the 2002 revival of the Twilight Zone. Anthony is in his 40s, and he has a daughter who is also omnipotent. It is worth watching.
I got to stay up and watch these on Saturday night. Grew up in Denver in the 60's and had 4 channels. ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS. No 24/7 t.v. then. The channels went off the air at midnight and would sign off with "High Flight", followed with the national anthem. High Flight: th-cam.com/video/980iFjPDDxU/w-d-xo.html
Every time you ask ' guys have you seen the twilight zone ' ..'No... except the ride.' 😂 Could you guys show us the ride? I could google it, but it id rather see you guys do it to add context 😊
I am glad the show was never in color. It made it far better. They had a very limited budget at CBS. Many of the shows were shot on videotape. That was rare at the time and gives them a creepy look.
Since it was mentioned, I would definitely urge anyone who hasn't, to check out B&W movies or just older films in general. There is a lot of great older material and I am grateful that there has been a move to preserve our filmic cultural legacy.
The kid is Billy Mumy, who went on to star in the TV Sci-Fi Cult classic, "Lost in Space" as Will Robinson. "Danger, Will Robinson!" ~ The Robot.
and Babylon 5
@@hornorsilk2901 Somebody else already said that, and he was in Lost in Space first.
And I don't watch Babylon 5.

You should watch Babylon 5 it is a well written show
The kid is Bill Mumy, who you all will know from Babylon 5.
What!?! For real???!!!

All human beings love a good story, even if it’s in black and white. Long live Rod Serling!
the black and white make twilight zone more creepy -

Original Twilight Zone is a treasure trove of brilliant episodes. Couldn't care less if it's black and white, it's all about a great story.

The other show you are probably thinking of is "The Outer Limits".
Yup thats it, thanks
I am currently binging a similar TV series from the era, "Alfred Hitchcock Presents".
I think I saw that available on either Paramount Plus or Peacock. Its looks interesting
@@RKnights Roku Channel. The first 5 seasons are 30 minutes. After that it's a 1 hour show. Hitchcock's prologues and epilogues are priceless.

I have seen a few episodes and am a pretty big Hitchcock fan.

It was a good thing you guys watched this episode. It was a real good thing.
Probably been said already, but the kid is your favorite Minbari B5 character, Lennier.
Lennier from Babylon 5 was a psycho as a kid!

Not easy to recognize Lennier so young and before his horned crown grows in
Lenier!
(Billy Mumy plays the monster here and Lenier in Babylon 5)
I am blown away
The little kid is Billy Muny. he played in Lost in Space as Will Robinson, and in Bablyon 5 as Linnier
This series had many more episodes with good endings, than with bad, but they all a moral to teach.
You guys know Anthony. He's Bill Mumy. He's best known as William Robinson in the 60's show "Lost in Space". You guys at RKnights know him as Lennier from "Babylon 5".
Fun fact, the kid actor here is the same guy that plays Lennier in Babylon 5
Yo I thought you guys would never get back to this iconic TV show. Twilight zone is my favorite thanks for the upload, hope you continue to do more.
More to come!

Speaking of Burgess Meredith, "Time Enough at Last" served up "the Gods are LOL" twist of "The Twilight Zone."
Look guys, it's Lennier from Babylon 5
