Rod Serling was very serious about teaching ethics, morality and values. He liked to turn the mirror on mankind.

"The Shelter" goes well with this episode. Shows what people will allow themselves to be reduced to when they panic and lose common sense.

"Time Enough at Last" is one of the best episodes of all time.
    It's definitely worth a watch.

Claude Akins was in a ton of movies and television shows from the 1950s all the way up to his death in 1993. He was one of those actors you saw everywhere but never learned his name because he was rarely the star of the show. He got a chance to be a star with "The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo," in which he played an utterly corrupt and incompetent sheriff in a small town. All played for comedy of course. He was brilliant, as always.
Some other Twilight Zone episodes you should watch include "A Nice Place to Visit," "Its a Good Life," "Time Enough at Last," "To Serve Man," and "The Invaders." In my opinion, these are the best episodes that you haven't seen yet.

This was an analogy to the RED SCARE of 1950s ..McArthyism .. (" who can you trust?" Your neighbor? Your brother? ... ( etc)...

Made in the era of the Communist “Red Scare” and the blacklists - a classic, just as true now as it was then.

In addition to Claude Akins, other notables in this episode are actor Jack Weston -- who has appeared in such movies as "Dirty Dancing" and "The Four Seasons"; Bert Metcalfe, who went on to become a producer for the TV series, MASH; Amzie Strickland -- a character actress who spent her career as a guest star on TV shows like "Dragnet", "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "The Andy Griffith Show".

Another great episode and fun reaction video. You guys are really good at guessing stuff and noticing important clues, like the hammer closeup was so we can remember who the guy is at the end who gets shot. You can’t see his face, but the jeans with the hammer loop is visible and that’s why they show it so obviously early on.

Great reaction guys, may I suggest "Obsolete", in my opinion one of the top 5 TZ episodes. Hope y'all get to it! Serling was such a master in shedding light on our weaknesses, fears in the societal/cultural aspects of humanity. Here, it is the perception...the mind, thatvis exposed. Great episode

Now if he was shorter than her waist is high, that would be, "little". 🤨

A classic, and one of my favorites. I studied psychology at college. The best class I took was Psychology of Terrorism. It was both fascinating and terrifying to see just how easy it is for regular human beings to turn on each other. This episode came to mind so many times when I was sitting in that class.

I laughed at you guys commenting about the kid's hairstyle. Back in my early days (50's) a lot of hair creme was used, especially by "the greasers" (Brylcreem - a little dab'll do ya!). Usually in the back it was long enough to pull toward the middle and curl it up a little into a D-A as it was called (short for duck's a## since it resembled the tail of a duck). On radios there weren't many channels, and car radios as well as handheld transistors had one or two Civil Defense stations shown by a triangle over the channel. Anything happens, tune there and see what the CD says. Probably what killed everything in this episode also would have knocked out the radio batteries. At school we practiced stop-drop-roll both outdoors at recess and in the classroom, in case of a nuclear attack by the Russians. Trying times to say the least. I can suggest two of my favorite episodes (The Odyssey of Flight 33" and "The Invaders" for some great twists in the stories.

Fun review. I enjoyed your observations. This was another classic episode. Claude Akin was the man with black hair. He was in another TW Episode about astronauts who find a race of ant sized people. The Space Ship & Uniforms from Forbidden Planet was used here too. Fear makes people do dangerous things is the moral of this episode.

And When the Sky Was Opened is one of the best episodes. Great cast including Rod Taylor, who starred in The Time Machine (1960) and The Birds (1963). I thoroughly enjoy your reactions, no matter how many or how few of you react. Decidedly keen insights. Speaking of The Birds, you guys should react to that movie. That’s Hitchcock.

Mark 3:26. By the way! Claude Akins, besides playing multiple characters in this series, and getting his own spin-off of, "BJ and the Bear", that others have written about. He is the militaristic general of, Ape City, in the, "Planet of the Apes", movie franchise. 🦍

  • @jimmiegiboney2473
    @jimmiegiboney2473 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Mark 5:34. Howdy! 🤠 I noticed your comments about being able to smoke everywhere, and other details like that, about the time back then. But so far, nothing about legal, Segregation. For example, the movie, "When Worlds Collide". I didn't notice the, Segregation, affecting who was allowed aboard the, Ark, until after I saw the newer movie with arks. "2010"? "2012"? That movie wasn't affected by it.
Aside from that, what they have in common, is writers that can't imagine people not spending money for such projects. The World is ending! Why should, Money, still matter? 🤔
