    This season, Spier & Mackay is offering their high-rise chinos again, but this time with a twist, they are garment-dyed! Garment dyeing is a process where garments are dyed after they are cut and sewn, as opposed to before, as is traditionally done with most garments. This makes the fabric softer and gives it a vintage, broken-in appearance. Watch to learn more about these chinos!

    I am curious to see how the garment dyed finishing will hold up over time with consistent care and finishing. Generally I avoid garment dyed cotton programs as they have a penchant for spotting where the soluble dye unbinds from the fiber and I find they cannot hold up to many common detergents.

      I suppose only time will tell, but I plan only on dry cleaning them, as I do with all of my trousers. I'm not sure that will make a difference, but we'll see!

    Would've of been nice to see the overall silhouette of trousers over the close-ups.

      @@TheHulseyStyle Awesome thanks! Do you prefer their contemporary cut over the slim?

    • @TheHulseyStyle
      @TheHulseyStyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DieyenDualPen I do. When I first got started in menswear, I was all about the slim fit. But I've started to move away from it. I am starting to prefer slouchier fits; this is largely influenced by the photos I've studied of late 80s Armani and the early 90s generally.
      I don't know if I would call Spier's contemporary fit slouchy, but it is certainly slouchier than their slim fit, needless to say.

      @@TheHulseyStyle Copy. I do prefer a wider leg. I just got a pair of their linen trousers in contemporary and was happy with the fit for my slim stature but noticed the chino measurements were tighter in the leg, yet larger in the hip/waist. Curious how that alters the silhouette. Going to get a couple pairs, you've convinced me their worth the try in your review. Thanks!

    I've had trouble with different brands of chinos shrinking. I follow the washing instructions but after about three washes some don't fit anymore. How are these after a few washes? Are they tight or too short or do they still fit well?

      If tweed is a ten, and silk is a one. I would say these are about a three or four.

    I have this pant but in navy. I like it but don't love it. I just purchased their regular chino but in high rise. I much prefer those. Maybe I'll post a picture on styleforum. Or maybe a TH-cam video but I'm not an expert on doing videos

      how are the high rise chino's? i heard they don't have a "traditional" high rise feel/not properly high rise

    • @Dominicreviews
      @Dominicreviews ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kipovololockheart5791 I like them. I recently bought a pair in khaki but I can't wear them anymore as they don't stay up on my waist unless I wear a suspender. And I won't wear a suspender with casual chinos. These have belt loops. I will be going back to the store sometime in March to pick up some mid rise aka regular chinos from them.

      I shot this video a while ago, so I am not sure exactly. But typically Spier's high rise is about 12 inches.
