Since purchasing and wearing a mid-grey flannel suit from Natalino last fall, I fell in love with suits and decided to incorporate more into my wardrobe, which is why I was excited when I saw Spier & Mackay was offering a brown houndstooth. I also find the same issue with SM's trousers and have stop purchasing suits or trousers from them. I really like their knitwear and outerwear items.
I hoped that I could widen the leg of a pair of SM trousers I just purchased but my tailor said that the small amount of fabric inside wasn’t enough. They were a 33 but I buy 34.
Even though I’m a 32W, I buy 34 from SM for the extra width from top to bottom. Wearing suspenders offsets the excess room at the waistband. My tool fills that gap anyway but if I don’t carry it, I’m good just pulling the side tabs all the way in. I’ve never seen you with suspenders, have you tried them?
I have had their trousers adjusted on the sides before. It may just be that your tailor didn't feel comfortable doing it (or couldn't do it), but that is why the fabric is there.
I have never tried suspenders. They feel a little too old timey to me 😂

According to Luca Rubinacci, above 80°, there’s no way to avoid sweating, and it becomes all about mitigation.
Likely correct for most people, but I tend to run cool!
I find I have similar issues with S&M OTR sleeves and trousers. Still, only the knowledgeable would notice. But ironically, that’s the circle we want to be in.😅
More people notice than you might think. They just may not be aware of what they are noticing.

Yeah. I wish they would have a third category (in addition to slim and contemporary) for classic proportions.
I have issues with their trousers also. I sent my last pair back for a refund.

They have atrocious customer service. I’ve been trying to get them on the phone for three weeks. About a year ago when I purchased a sport coat, they never answered their phone then either, and I had to email them three times to get a response regarding a return. The only reason they responded to the third email was because I threatened to dispute the charge with my bank.
I love their neo cut, but they have serious staffing issues.
I have never had a problem with them. They have always responded promptly to my requests 🤷♂️

@@TheHulseyStyle - I don't have instragram. In any case, they list a phone number and several email addresses on their website, all of which should allow a customer to get in touch with them. This is not specific to me, complaints about their nearly nonexistent customer service are all over redidit and various forums.
Their quality and fits are not consistent at all,their MTM is horrible,their fabrics are hit or miss,the last linen shirts I bought from them was 1 white and 1 blue,the white linen shirt had better heavier fabric and fits okay but the blue linen was bad in fit and horrible in fabric,the blue linen became unwearable after one wash,how can they make the same shirt styles but the white had better fabric than the blue?,I reached out to customer service and they refused to do anything about it,so far I have 2 MTM shirts and 1 blue linen shirt that are unwearable,I have bought a total of 6 shirts from SPIER & MACKAY and 3 of them are unwearable.
