    I rarely flossed my teeth until I got floss picks. Now I keep them in my car, purse, backpack. I am a frequent glosser with the floss picks.
    No more slobbering, no more facial lines from opening my mouth so wide for a long time.

    Lucky for me my dentist is very passionate about interdental brushes. A good dentist won’t just clean your teeth or fix a cavity they’ll also give you tips and show you how to floss and with what, if you’ve never done it before.
    I was terrified about going to the dentist; but a good one will turn it into a positive experience and actually makes you want to start taking care of your teeth!

    I hate the string floss, it’s just annoying to me, and I find it difficult to get to the molars at the way back of my mouth. I’ve tried the water flosser but I haven’t learned how to properly use it, and accidentally shot water up my nose the last time I used it 🙃🙃🙃 I didn’t know about the interdental aids were a thing till now. I really want to improve my dental hygiene because I’ve always been bad with it. I found your channel while searching “dental routines” here on TH-cam. No influencers seem to have any videos dedicated to their dental hygiene routines, but almost all have videos dedicated to their skin care routine. Part of me wishes this could change: dental care is just as important as skin care, and these can translate to visual benefits as well. Anyways, thank you for this channel, I’m excited to learn more!

    traditional floss always slips from my fingers and i often have trouble reaching the back. i tried floss picks and its funny how easy it is to get "obsesssive" about flossing every single meal when its so easy to get started. because flossing is so easy, you want to brush more often, and you want to mouthwash more often too. im now super curious about interdental and water flossing

  • @xandrutait
    @xandrutait 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Its taken me ages to floss better I have tried proxy brushes but my teeth are to close together. Its a skill to get to the back teeth. I have a friend who said he doesn't need to floss according to his dentists advice. I gave him some Floss and asked him to floss just this once for me then smell the floss when finished. Apart loads of bleeding he said it smelt like something rotting. Yes I replied. That is food rotting between your teeth. He now tells me he flosses regularly. Thanks for sensible knowledgeable advice. Xx

    I have one paralyzed hand so have been using floss picks for about 28 years however I was using them wrong. Now after thousands of dollars in dental costs I had to sell my house to pay for, between using a waterpick every day, using a floss pick the right way which I have been doing for a few weeks now, mostly from watching my dental assistants and hygenist do it right with string floss and noting how different I did it with a floss pick plus the electric toothbrush I had but seldom used before I may actually be able to avoid getting cavities under my new crowns and bridges. Your videos helped too: a couple of times when I was at the Dentist office have told them "I saw this on the internt" refering to one of your videos and they said thats a good idea, before telling me why it was a good idea. I come here around once a week to see what's new.

    Back teeth flossers are great. You can get all the way in the back without both hands. Once you get towards the front it's easy to turn sideways. I'm surprised they aren't more popular. With these you don't have an excuse.

    I don't floss because I just hate string floss, I want to floss, but I can almost never make myself do it. I don't care for the picks either, and water flossers are too bulky, I would never actually lug that thing out from under the sink. I HAD NO IDEA THOSE LITTLE IN BETWEEN BRUSHES EXISTED, THIS VIDEO WAS SO HELPFUL. I just went to the dentist for the first time in like 8 years and they recommended a deep cleaning so I'm really trying to improve my dental health.

  • @websurfer5772
    @websurfer5772 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I love using proxabrushes. I like the long-handled ones. My gums have finally stopped bleeding for the first time in decades! I use them after every time I eat along with flossing 2 to 3 times a day, and using a mini-brush that I keep with the proxabrush, and brushing at the sink with toothpaste once or twice a day. I'm mostly bedridden and I can use the proxas and floss without having to stand up. I just wipe off the proxa brushes with a napkin when done and keep them in a dental case and wash out them out with soap and hot water if they start to smell.
    If my gums hurt when I use the proxa brush I just use my waterpik and the pain goes away after one use which is great since I can't stand for long.

    My dentist recommended me a water flosser and interdental brushes. As I have adhd and autism and find the flossing experience 1. Really really boring so did it like twice and then stopped. 2. With autism flossing in between my teeth is really uncomfortable sensory wise so also stopped. The other two products are far far better

    I love the floss picks for when I’m out during the day. (Occasionally if I can’t be bothered to string floss I’ll use one at home). But for someone with a ‘food trap’ gap in my back teeth, flops picks are great for on-the-go flossing.

    I didn’t floss that much as a kid and I had a bunch of cavities as a result 😫✌🏻. I started flossing recently since my family dentist told me I need to especially since I have a long family history of root canals. I was wondering - can flossing cause gaps in between teeth? I got braces and I would hate to undo any of that work.

      Xylitol works to kill bad bacteria when string cannot remove it entirely.

    Thank god!! i only have access to floss pick (theres normal string floss too but they're ALOT more expensive here) and i was worried if the floss pick even help because alot of stuff online says they're not good :(
    Feel so relieved that they work too!

    If you have sensitive teeth don't do want I did the first time using my water floser. Using cold water is not a good idea, warm water worked better.

  • @pm5206
    @pm5206 ปีที่แล้ว

    Flossers are the same as string. Works just as fine. Water flosser works also. Both can be used and water flosser is better at removing stuff string cannot and is massaging to the gums. String is risky and not great for dexterity and accuracy. Xylitol rinse is best after water flossing and brushing. It kills bad bacteria that water, brush and string cannot remove entirely.

    I have a genetic connective tissue disorder. Every dentist has said that I shouldn't floss because it'd push the little flesh triangles down and cut them easier. Now I have tooth decay on my 2a that's about to hit the nerve. I feel like I'm burning the candle at both ends.

    With string flossing: Tie the piece of string in a loop - much easier to handle compared to a loose length of string. Water flossing: Impossible to practically use unless you have a TANK of water attached. Water flossers with a small tank in the handle: water is finished in 4 seconds....

    If you hate flossing, get the flosspicks to get used to it. It's quick, not messy and just easier. Then once you're more used to it, move to thread floss....

    • @TeethTalk
      @TeethTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that's awesome! totally impressed on your home care efforts! always ask you dental provider what they feel is best for your individual mouth - but twice a day does not seem like too much for me - I think it's great! but always confirm with your dentist! :)

    my hygienist made a face when I told her I got a water flosser yesterday 😭 I got it since Im getting self ligating braces next week so I've been using Flouroide mw mixed in so that even below the gums they get strengthened (my logic at least is that 😅) and I already have trouble fighting high bacteria buildup cos of tonsilstones but I don't think she realised and gave me into trouble 😭 I feel a bit better now watching this ofc I use string floss too though but it's just not enough with the constant buildup and grossness that comes with TS

    My oral b pro alone does a lot of the work. I usually do some combination of flossing except traditional floss. I just hate traditional floss and felt it took to long to do daily.
    As you said, something is better than nothing. And if you go to get your teeth done every six months, that should usually be enough if you practice good dental hygiene.
