Mental health issues in my early 20’s affected my oral hygiene. Started properly caring (and had proper insurance). It is one of the biggest gamechangers in my life
I started brushing & flossing at work in addition to twice a day, and game changer!! I love drinking coffee and snacking & that day routine makes me feel so much cleaner. My teeth feel grimy by nighttime if I don’t
I can't control an electric toothbrush and it won't fit in the back of my mouth. After using the electric there are all sorts of missed spots so I have to go back over with a manual. We are all different in our mouth shape too.
Due to a medical problem I can't control a electric toothbrush well either so I just am very careful with a manual. The electric toothbrush is hard to get to my back molars due to the way my mouth opens so I don't think everyone can use them. So far I've been ok with a manual.
Hi Whitney, I had a dentist tell me he uses three types of tooth brushes every meal and now I do too, every single meal and am 69 and have all my teeth except two which a dentist ruined and, ya know, I am wondering why you don't say to brush and floss after every meal as folks sometimes eat a sugary desert, and great video too!😊
Point 5- is higher the fluoride content on the toothpaste ( 1450 ppm ) that on the Fluoride Mouthwash (450 ppm ) therefore keeping your toothpaste in is better to maximize fluoride effect instead to rinse with Fluoride mouthwash. Specially at night time. What do you think?
2:11 I love this image, the angle of the mirror seems like it would be hard for the dentist or the patient to see it. So it looks like the teeth are staring at themselves!
Hi Whitney, Great video as always. I've just finished my invaslign treatment FULLY and my mouth has never been healthier. Your videos have helped me get my dental routine back on track and take proper care of my mouth so thank you for the content! I have a question though: If I notice any tartar/calculus on my teeth, should I go to my dentist ASAP to get it cleaned off or can I leave it until my next cleaning appointment? I get my teeth cleaned every 6 months but I've noticed some build up in hard to reach areas 😕 Edit: I know each mouth is different and it's hard to give a definitive answer as you've not assessed my individual case, but I'm asking as a "general rule of thumb"? Thanks
thank you for your kind words!!! and for following along!!! general rule of thumb -- is if your dentist/dental hygienist hasn't recommended more frequent cleanings, then you should be fine! I would ask and see if it's a normal amount of buildup or not! hope this helps!
@@TeethTalk thank you for answering my question. Can I ask another one? I discovered today after watching your videos that I wasn't flossing properly for 6 years maybe? And the way you saidis the right way is hard for me. I have so many cavaties and my teeth aren't straight. I want to know what is next best thing for me instead of flossing. I know you said to ask your dentist but I can't right now.
Hi Whitney, I buy Clinpro 5000 1.1 % Sodium Flouride Anti-Cavity Toothpaste from my dentist’s office. It’s $20.00 for a 4oz tube. I use it once a day at night. I’m not sure if all Dental offices have this available.
@@happymoon5991 No. it’s not the same. The Amazon version has LESS fluoride. That is why it’s only $12. Clinipro 5000 can only be carried and sold by your Dentists office
This may be a silly question but when you mentioned brushing your teeth at night, you specified "right before bed" - I'm someone who has dinner about 4 hours before bedtime and I never snack after dinner, so I end up brushing my teeth about 3 hours before bed. Should I be holding off until just before I go to sleep as opposed to brushing an hour after dinner, or did I take that a little too literally/extreme? :p
I brush my teeth before and after breakfast. I brush three times a day. Floss three times a day. Use mouthwash three times a day. Water pic two times a day. And perio brushes twice a day.
I do twice a day morning and before bed but the fluoride thing is very interesting to me as I've not used fluoride toothpaste for 30 years and never had a cavity. But my diet is extremely clean and very rich in organic mineral rich wholefoods. I think I get fluoride from other sources as well so I think that contributes. The waterpik I use once a day usually or just when I want to burst food debris out. It's just nice to use!
I love to use an electric toothbrush, but it’s not always practical. You can’t always keep one at work and my family travels a lot and most people have manual brushes anyway. I think that a few regularly brush, floss, scrape your tongue, and swish your mouth with water after eating or drinking something, it’s more than enough. I follow your advice about eating cheese and yogurt as well. Does cottage cheese count as well? Sometimes I’ll have an apple or something instead and you’re right it really helps. Keep the teeth clean.
everyone should brush their teeth morning and night there's no excuse really. unless you're unable to physically then you can have a helper to do it or whoever

the ones that contain sugar are bad! but the sugar-free ones are not as bad! not sure if they contain xylitol -- if so then they are great! I would always stick to xylitol-containing mints if you want to improve oral health!

I bought an electric toothbrush, not the spinning kind, but shaking kind. I hate it! It's sooooo strong that it almost feels like it's gonna fly around my tooth like a ping pong ball, if that makes sense. It was a $25 one. Any tips? Are all electric brushes that wild and strong?
@@norapeterson6331 most of them have a low setting but that might actually be a good thing for your teeth, they aren't really made to brush so hard that you're going to hurt yourself. just slowly move the brush and let the vibrations do the work
I haven’t been to a dentist in over 12 years. Only had 3 small cavities My dental hygiene was bad was inconsistent with brushing my teeth, Horrible diet, and some how I only had 3 small cavities on my molars (right side, 1 top 2 bottom) and also matpat made a video on toothbrushes and the verdict was manual toothbrushes were better then electric. Kk😅😅let’s
With electric toothbrush do I need to used toothpaste
Mental health issues in my early 20’s affected my oral hygiene. Started properly caring (and had proper insurance). It is one of the biggest gamechangers in my life
Same. But since 10s.
I left my self and stopped brushing or caring for my self.
I started brushing & flossing at work in addition to twice a day, and game changer!! I love drinking coffee and snacking & that day routine makes me feel so much cleaner. My teeth feel grimy by nighttime if I don’t
Chew sugarfree gum helps as well. Xylitol naturally cleans teeth.
Yes I do this after eating my meals. I also have mints as well and they make your teeth feel clean inbetween your 2 x day brushing.
She said this
I can't control an electric toothbrush and it won't fit in the back of my mouth. After using the electric there are all sorts of missed spots so I have to go back over with a manual. We are all different in our mouth shape too.
Perhaps you should try one with a smaller brush head. I use an Oral B
Due to a medical problem I can't control a electric toothbrush well either so I just am very careful with a manual. The electric toothbrush is hard to get to my back molars due to the way my mouth opens so I don't think everyone can use them. So far I've been ok with a manual.
Hydroxyapatite toothpaste is great if you’re using it alongside fluoride toothpaste. I use both and it helps sensitivity
I do all these things, yay! And it's cause I started watching your channel this past year 😊

I have no tartar when i go for cleanings and have always used a manual brush. However your correct that most people dont brush properly!
