Yes they are awesome. One of my all time favorites is " For my Lady" I first heard it when me and my wife got together. It will always remind me of that magical time
Both groups gave us so much wonderful music. Sadly I never saw either group live but today (08Jan24) I still find their MUSIC inspiring, relaxing, and exquisite at bringing back memories of my youth. I used to play their vinyl records in my 9ft x 6ft bedroom in the loving home where I grew up in West London, England. My Dad was a big fan too! I just finished listening to the full Seventh Sojourn album, which has such gentile and soothing songs. Thank you The Moody Blues and thank you The Beatles. :)
My guy introduced me to them 18 years ago - so I'm a 'late Moody Blues Bloomer" - love their lyricism and fulsome, harmonic tunes. You can tell they totally enjoy themselves delivering QUALITY music to their fans.
I'm an old man now, but I have been listening to these guys since I was a young one. Through High School, Viet Nam, failed marriages, deaths of friends and family. No other band has held in thrall like them. When you say Britain's Got Talent? Look to the bands of the sixty's and seventy's.
I'm 66, and I've been listening to ELP, Yes, Beatles, Bee Gees... all the oldies from when the world wasn't as fucked up as it is now! It's no wonder, most of the music now is garbage... IMHO

The Moody Blues, the best rock band of all time! I am 74 and experienced, of course, the Beatles, Eagles, etc. but the Moody Blues stand head and shoulders among them all for originality, intellectually, creativity and musicality. Just love them!

I too have that same feeling. Their is a spiritual dimension to their music that connects with the heart and soul. I think "A Question of Balance" would be my favoritie Moody Blues album.
i am 70 yrs. old, back in around 1964 all my buddies were listening to a band called the Beattles and they would ask me what I was listening to and my reply was"probably the greatest band you will ever hear, they are light years ahead of their time". It was the Moody Blues. I have seen them live three times and I have also seen Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, ELO and countless other bands over the years and as great as they all are, to me the greatest band ever assembled then, now and always will be the "MOODY BLUES"
I am 58 old and gone through losing my legs six months later got cancer now I have covid never seen them in concert but I listen to them for long time and I could honestly say there music has helped me through my all my problems
The Moody Blues found me and saved me their music became a part of my life in my teenage years and now in my 60s I can say my life would have taken a different path had it not been for them. Eternally grateful.
Exactly this. Who needs antidepressants, when you can listen and feel the music of The Moody Blues. They gave me sanity during me teen years. The music and lyrics will always hold up through many lifetimes.
The only band that is at all equal to Led Zeppelin in my opinion. I would probably choose Led Zep but my fave song of all time for magnificence and beauty would have to be Nights in White Satin.

I was in the audience at this extraordinary concert, and even though I was already very familiar with the Moody Blues music, seeing them in that beautiful venue was an experience I'll never, ever forget.

Justin Hayward has one of the best voices in music! I used to put on those big clunky headphones and just listen to their albums way into the night. What a great sound they have! No stage antics, no flames, no rotating drum kits...just the greatest music!
When I was 15 yrs old I met and fell in love. The love letters, which I still have, contain the lyrics to Nights in White Satin …. sadly G drowned two years later, aged only 18. The Moodys will forever be a link with my first love whom I still miss to this day. God bless you Justin and the Moodys for all the joy you’ve given me listening to you. 🙏🏻🙏🏻💕💕
Yes? It's not easy to put into words how music can alter a persons outlook on life.. I too, John, was awakened throughout long periods of difficult & unsure times in life by M.B.'s music/lyrics, and just as much so by the Annie Haslam version of the band Renaissance.. Both were uniquely innovative & brave to try something very different for their times musically & in doing so profoundly altered my life to this day in a totally positive way.
Music has saved many more lives than people realize. We could all use more real artists today who can put music and words together to do the same thing for our youth of today. Rap and vile lyrics don't cut it in my world.
I’m no Youngster in the late 60s and into the 70s the music was the absolute best . Now nearing my 70s I still love the music and listen to TH-cam Every day, it gives me great Satisfaction and Soulful vibes, and keeps me going through this Mad World 👏👏👏
What was really the hook for me was you didn't have to be high to enjoy their music. At 72 now I look back and realize they were just about the only truly sane group of the entire era. They spoke to a persons heart and soul. I've seen them in person at four different venues and have every single and every album in vinyl. Have every Laser Disc and DVD as well as ever CD they've ever printed.

I have NO IDEA how 795 people can not like this. I've had the good fortune to see them in concert twice, but in the Live at the Royal Albert Hall concert they are in top form with top accompaniment. Sublime :-) This was a very special evening, wish I could have been there!

I haven't listened to them for years and years and have gone back to them to soothe me at night, and my favorite Rock bands during the day, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Disturbed, Foo Fighters.
Just got diagnozed for colon cancer. Need something to keep the faith and the Moody Blues came up in my head. You gentlemen don't stop the tears now but you do give me strenght to look forward. I'll survive, I'm sure. Thank you fr your music, it must be for over 50 years now, fifty-four I guess. Days of Future Passed was the very first album I bought in my life. Strangely it doesn't seem all that long ago now...
So how'd you fair through treatment? I too had to plow my way through cancer treatments, chemo and radiation recently. Moodies helped me make it work. Escapism into another time.
@@erswnn Thanks for your reaction. Well, in January the doctors removed the tumor which turned out to be of a nasty kind and probably long existing. SoI had to get chemotherapy which ended towards the end of May. I had four treatments and the last two were very tough. But I endured and since about a month the side effect have almost completely disappeared. Sometimes fatigue is an issue but actually most days I don't think about the cancer and treatment anymore. Fortunately they decided ttat radiation was not necessary. Of course I know that statically I'm still at risk and in December I get another coloscopy and my blood will be tested again. Last time that happened was September and then the marker was OK. So fingers crossed for December! By then it will be a year since diagnosis. How long ago is all this for you? Is your treatment finished and what are the results, if you don't mind me asking? During treatment music was too much for me. But now I can enjoy music again and also without tears coming to my eyes when the song gets emotional. The Moody Blues still are regular guets in my HiFi!

I will paint a mystical picture for you: Nights in White Satin was the theme for one of my high school proms, My dress was midnight blue/black (I made it myself), his tux was powder blue. We were so much in love. Slow dancing to the theme song, Nights in White Satin; it didn't get any more romantic than that. . . . or did it? We got engaged, married after my graduation, had 3 beautiful children, 5 grandchildren, and 32 years of marriage.
I don't know if the guys will ever read these comments but Moody Blues will ALWAYS, ALWAYS kick ass, you guys sound as good now, as when you started out, the 1st time I heard you guys, that was it for me these guys are my band. I'm 34 and I just discovered Moody Blues back in 2018 (I listen to a lot of classic rock). The version of Isn't Life Strange in this video brings tears to my eyes everyone I watch it. I don't feel MB ever got their true deserved admiration. Moving forward, I will try to rectify that.

True beauty in rock. The greatest English group of all time. As an American, I'm still slightly more partial to the Beach Boys (esp. 1966-1972) but it's very close. I actually got to see them both at a single concert. Amazing groups.

I can recall when their album "Days of Future Passed" was first released. I was sitting in my English Class senior year of high school with my English teacher asking the class to write what they were feeling when she played the "introduction" to that album. It was my first introduction to this band. Justin Hayward is irreplaceable as a lyrist, musician, and singer. They don't get much better than this. He will always be remembered. His music is timeless.
The early Moody Blues in 1964 were just so so, I don't think they used Moody Blues, just MB 5, their only hit that was memorable is/was GO NOW. It was when Justin Hayward joined, in 1967, that made the Moody Blues memorable. Then they got the nickname as the SMALLEST ORCHESTRA. I remember when I was in Vietnam, the EM club in DaNang, used to have Philippine Bands come play on weekends, this one group specifically could play Moody Blues songs, like they were recordings, but it was actually them playing. BUT, the crazy thing, THEY COULD NOT SPEAK OR UNDERSTAND ENGLISH. Other groups that played there, also played the sounds and songs of the Ventures, Beatles, Grassroots, country, rock, blues, THEY WERE SO COOL.

Moody Blues Live at Royal Albert Hall...myohmyohmy...without a doubt the most incredible concert ever. I am 68, was at Woodstock, and have attended many concerts in my life. This MB Concert is incredible. I listen/watch this 2-3 times a month. The orchestral interplay with "rock & roll" is magical and never tires. Brings back incredible memories as well...TY God Bless
I'm 67 years old been into and HOOKED on this band. I started out in 1969 to present. CLASS ACT!!! Saw them on numerous times and NEVER WAS DISAPPOINTED!!! They're MY FAVORITE BAND!!!
The Legendary Moody Blues. Their music is exceptional and ages like fine wine and cheese. These guys write and perform beautiful music, and none of the members tattooed nor pierced their bodies. They dress tastefully like their music they have written. I own all of their albums and I've never grown tired of them.
Baby Boomers had the best music of the era . What’s unbelievable is each group had a signature sound that was audibly distinctive. The 60s brought a surge of heart felt music as a result of Vietnam. Still love the Moody Blues like I did back in 1969 and even before 1969 when I was in HS (graduated '69). Went to see them twice in Atlanta at Chastain Park in the late 70's or early 80's well after I left the USMC. Took my first hit of mescaline listening to the Moody Blues back in 1969 after coming home on Boot Camp leave from the USMC. Of course, I ended up in Vietnam in 1971 - 1972. Sure hated to hear when Ray passed. And with the passing of Edge and Thomas, Justin Hayward was just a great as he's ever been singing lead and playing lead guitar. The Moody Blues are in a class all by themselves. They are melodic and sentimental, but they can rock like no one else. Have seen them live more times than I can count. Their music will definitely stand the test of time. So glad to have had them in my life since the mid-60s when Days of Future Passed came out. They are spectacular.
I was introduced to these guys back in the 70's by one of my troops in Korea. I'm a retired Army S.F.C. (24yrs), 85 on the planet. and I still enjoy listening.

One of the 1st times ever stoned was while hearing the entire "In Search of the Lost Chord" LP straight through. What a mystical experience that was - 1972. Remember it well.
As a teenager some 45--50 years ago, I loved to get stoned and lay on my bed and let the Moodies take me away. I would listen to songs like Timothy Leary's Dead and Are You Sitting Comfortably, and enter a magical realm that were reserved for the J. R.R. Tolkiens of this world. Girls, my parents, the Vietnam war and who or what was my part in the world would seems to fade from my worries and lift me into my wildest dreams. It was a time like no other. I remember it most fondly, before the reality of life closed in! I've done well with my family and vocationally but on rare occasion my mind drift back to the magic that was the Moody Blues. Times like now. Isn't life strange...?

I’m a retired Audio Engineer. Some time ago I saw the band, what a treat. The FOH man had 2 powder blue glass spherical illuminated accent lights on each side of the console. I politely asked what they did. He gave me that knowing sound brother smile, “why, those are the moody blues mate”. Perfect.☮️❤️
Just paused this show during the song "Isn't Life Strange". There are just so many thoughts running through my mind while watching, I can barely contain myself. The Moody Blues are certainly a gift to humanity if there were nothing else. These songs are pure and meaningful. Beautifully executed by the original members of the group, this performance literally brought me to tears. I have been a huge fan since I was first introduced by my elder brother (himself, a musician) in 1967. I recently turned 60 years old and can't think of any other celebrities I'd rather meet than them in my entire life. They have enriched my very soul. Thank you Moody Blues, for reinforcing the very reason why it is so wonderful to have life. If you ever come to this region of Florida, I'll certainly attend. It would mark my forth time.

This is one of the best recordings of The Moody Blues I’ve heard on TH-cam, they blend so well with the orchestra and both Justin Hayward and John Lodge’s performances of their vocals is perfectly projected, love it and so moving, their guitar playing is iconic alongside Ray Thomas’ Flute and The Keyboard player, is that Paul Bliss? Great percussion that rocks the stage with Greame Edge and the other drummer works well together on different tones of drumming, A memorable performance that will go down in history…their sound fills this wonderful auditorium of great electrifying acoustics at the Royal Albert Hall in London. I first discovered this sound in 1967 with the iconic song Nights in White Satin and have grown old with them, thankyou for the music, Moody Blues 💙🌟🎶🎵🎶💫🎸
The Moodies composed so many great songs that it is really hard to pick a favourite. 'Lovely to see you again' would possibly be top of my playlist. However, 'I know you're out there somewhere' always reminds me of missed opportunities due to youthful ignorance and generally makes me cry.
I first heard this band in 1973 when I was 16, I'm now 64, and have loved them every day since then, I never ever tire of them, I listen and watch on TH-cam now but also have their music on my phone so I can hear it via bluetooth when driving. I've seen them twice in concert and loved every moment. My only regret is that I never heard them play Melancholy Man live, a song that descibes myself. They are a truly remarkable group of individuals and even more amazing when together as a group.
Mike Riordan I missed Vietnam War for I failed 3rd Grade in 1963, and my Senior Year of High School in 1974, My Biological Daughter Jewel Kilcher is alive because I had a Draft Card for the Vietnam War my random number was 027. And August 25,1974 I ended up in the Special Olympics because I tried to go to Alaska twice to see what my family called my imaginary wife and daughter Jewelry. If I would have gone to Niagara Dragstrip Labor Day Weekend 1973 like I was supposed to Jewel Kilcher would have never been born. No lie , the songs Foolish Games and Enter from the East are about Me !!!! And I didn’t graduate from High School till I was 20 years old in 1975 a year after my daughter was born.
It brings such powerful memories to listen to them. The lyrics are amazing. He says that what you wanted to be, you'll be in the end. I struggled my whole life with my calling as a writer but now that I'm older, I've accepted it. I write every day...novels, poetry. Writing is my whole. In the end, I did find my calling and become a writer.

The thing about The Moody Blues is they had tremendous music. The way they orchestrated everything was absolute creative genius. Then you add to that lyrics that had meaning and touched people's hearts and souls. Not many bands have achieved that with a few songs let alone over a lifetime. That more than anything is what makes The Moody Blues so timeless. Their music is relevant today as it was when it was written new.
Days of Future Past had been given to me as a Christmas present in 1969, and I didn't open or listen to the album, as I had no idea who they were. The following year I was drafted at the height of the Vietnam War, and so I joined the Air Force at the last minute, else I was going to belong to the Army . 2 Years later, I'm sitting in my barracks room, bored with all my rock albums which I played all the time, and while I was looking through my collection for something to lift my spirits, I saw the Days of Future Past album, and thought, "What the heck. I'm bored, so I guess I'll listen to it." I had a huge stereo system by then, and on the intro, I WAS BLOWN AWAY. I've been a Moody since then, and I thank their music for helping me get through those times when things were tough, lonely, and not knowing what was going to happen to me, as I learned to, "Breathe deep the gathering gloom." I was fortunate to see them in concert twice after the reunited, but never got to see them with Mike Pindar.

This is one of the most unique bands with a sound that penetrates the subconscious and fills the senses. They’ve given me great enjoyment and provided some calm-escape in a chaotic and often unsettling world.
Yep, same age & my dad & I truly bonded with the Moodies.....he's passed now, on a Tuesday no less, & Haywards voice is so much like my dads or I should say my dad could sing like Hayward! It's such a gift to have.

It has been said Barclay James Harvest are similar. They even recorded a song called Poor Man's Moody Blues but I don't think they are in the same league. The Moodies and Queen are the 2 greatest bands ever. The puzzle is why the Moodies are underrated. They can all song snd Justin's voice is one ofcthe best in popular music.
I saw them in the early 80's, with a guy I'd never heard of, Stevie Ray Vaughan, opening for them. A decade or so later, I got to see them with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic. What a show!

I have my brother to thank for introducing me to the Moody Blues at age 13 or 14. He knew I liked both rock & classical music, and got me the album Days of Future Passed for Christmas. "I think you might like this" he said. 50+ years later he could not have been more correct.
i had gotten some record store gift certificates, so my brother fearing i would buy some junk at the time took them and bought all moody blues albums. can't stand him today but it was a great choice then.

I agree completely. That and "Legend of a Mind" are my favorites from this, but all songs are wonderful. I can only imagine experiencing this concert, the emotional rollercoaster. Fantastic!
34 years ago, my soon to be husband told me "The Question" made him think of me each time he heard it. We were married on Hana, Maui on this day shortly after, under a waterfall, just a pastor, his wife, and a backpacking surfer who gifted a papaya that the pastor blessed. What an amazing day.
Such magick & talent in each of them…passing on the dreams of the heart with the voices and words of angels. How I feel each time that I hear them. I’m so thankful I lived at the right time on this earth to listen to them and the Beatles. But We’ll not see their like again.
"Isn't life strange" got me through the heartbreaking times. And after the storms subsided listening to this song was a comfort , understanding, and celebration.

At seventy seven, i can still remember tbe first time i heard the Moody blues, and i was hooked. I was at the time playing in a band myself, and it was the flute that b got me i went out and bought a silver James Galway, still have it. It really took me places to, i found out why the moody blues were so infectous musically, and being able to play a number of instruments, as well as being lead singer ment i never was idle, but i was very much aware that it was a tall order to keep doing it, i finished playing publically when i hit sixty five, and now enjoy playing just for my own benifit, along with anyone who wants too listen. I can say that its the most adictive thing you can do, the money ks good but it does not come anywhere near the sound you hear from the adience, thats where the adiction comes from, and tbe Moody blues deserve every bit they get, i can i think name every album they came out with, but i am not writtimg them all here, it would take too long for a start,i think it more fitting to,say that each one was a gem. It was they that gave me emcoragement for most of my time playing. The complete change from one album to the next is incredible, thanks from tbe bottom of my heart for such a wonderful sound that can only be the MOODY BLUES!!!!!!!!!
I'm 67 now, I started listening and loving this music as it first came out. I still listen and love it... For many years, I kept several tapes on my boat, it was the only music allowed at lights out, in the deep canyons of Lake Powell.... love every minute of their music...
Same here, , probably one of the best post Mike Pinder shows. And I saw 2 of them. That is a great selection to play late night just floating. And the lake at night must be awesome setting!
I had a 27' Hardtop/kitchen/head/slept 5-screwed10lol. kept it Bullfrog for about 10 years/ smaller boat before that. I spent 4 consecutive days each month (every month) on the water.
I believe the strings, flutes, piccolo, barrel drums, were what made this group so special, so incredibly unique. No one has ever sounded the least bit like them and frankly never will...at 71 my memories of that time, 1967, 68, 69...are some of the best of my life. You can never feel anything but good listening to them. And then there is Justin....that strong jawline is still there...getting better looking, better sounding as the years pass, they have treated him very well. Oops...this is very old.. he is 75 now and not looking like this...still great though.
The Moody Blues was a miraculous reunion of Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Mike Pinder and Ray Thomas. Individually they were superb song writers, instrumental players and singers.

Both groups gave us so much wonderful music. Sadly I never saw either group live but today (08Jan24) I still find their MUSIC inspiring, relaxing, and exquisite at bringing back memories of my youth. I used to play their vinyl records in my 9ft x 6ft bedroom in the loving home where I grew up in West London, England. My Dad was a big fan too! I just finished listening to the full Seventh Sojourn album, which has such gentile and soothing songs. Thank you The Moody Blues and thank you The Beatles. :)

My guy introduced me to them 18 years ago - so I'm a 'late Moody Blues Bloomer" - love their lyricism and fulsome, harmonic tunes. You can tell they totally enjoy themselves delivering QUALITY music to their fans.

i am 70 yrs. old, back in around 1964 all my buddies were listening to a band called the Beattles and they would ask me what I was listening to and my reply was"probably the greatest band you will ever hear, they are light years ahead of their time". It was the Moody Blues. I have seen them live three times and I have also seen Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, ELO and countless other bands over the years and as great as they all are, to me the greatest band ever assembled then, now and always will be the "MOODY BLUES"

Justin Hayward has one of the best voices in music! I used to put on those big clunky headphones and just listen to their albums way into the night. What a great sound they have! No stage antics, no flames, no rotating drum kits...just the greatest music!

I too, John, was awakened throughout long periods of difficult & unsure times in life by M.B.'s music/lyrics, and just as much so by the Annie Haslam version of the band Renaissance.. Both were uniquely innovative & brave to try something very different for their times musically & in doing so profoundly altered my life to this day in a totally positive way.

I’m no Youngster in the late 60s and into the 70s the music was the absolute best . Now nearing my 70s I still love the music and listen to TH-cam Every day, it gives me great Satisfaction and Soulful vibes, and keeps me going through this Mad World 👏👏👏
What was really the hook for me was you didn't have to be high to enjoy their music. At 72 now I look back and realize they were just about the only truly sane group of the entire era. They spoke to a persons heart and soul. I've seen them in person at four different venues and have every single and every album in vinyl. Have every Laser Disc and DVD as well as ever CD they've ever printed.

I have NO IDEA how 795 people can not like this. I've had the good fortune to see them in concert twice, but in the Live at the Royal Albert Hall concert they are in top form with top accompaniment. Sublime :-) This was a very special evening, wish I could have been there!

Just got diagnozed for colon cancer. Need something to keep the faith and the Moody Blues came up in my head. You gentlemen don't stop the tears now but you do give me strenght to look forward. I'll survive, I'm sure. Thank you fr your music, it must be for over 50 years now, fifty-four I guess. Days of Future Passed was the very first album I bought in my life. Strangely it doesn't seem all that long ago now...
So how'd you fair through treatment? I too had to plow my way through cancer treatments, chemo and radiation recently.
Moodies helped me make it work. Escapism into another time.
@@erswnn Thanks for your reaction. Well, in January the doctors removed the tumor which turned out to be of a nasty kind and probably long existing. SoI had to get chemotherapy which ended towards the end of May. I had four treatments and the last two were very tough. But I endured and since about a month the side effect have almost completely disappeared. Sometimes fatigue is an issue but actually most days I don't think about the cancer and treatment anymore. Fortunately they decided ttat radiation was not necessary. Of course I know that statically I'm still at risk and in December I get another coloscopy and my blood will be tested again. Last time that happened was September and then the marker was OK. So fingers crossed for December! By then it will be a year since diagnosis. How long ago is all this for you? Is your treatment finished and what are the results, if you don't mind me asking?
During treatment music was too much for me. But now I can enjoy music again and also without tears coming to my eyes when the song gets emotional. The Moody Blues still are regular guets in my HiFi!

I will paint a mystical picture for you: Nights in White Satin was the theme for one of my high school proms, My dress was midnight blue/black (I made it myself), his tux was powder blue. We were so much in love. Slow dancing to the theme song, Nights in White Satin; it didn't get any more romantic than that. . . . or did it? We got engaged, married after my graduation, had 3 beautiful children, 5 grandchildren, and 32 years of marriage.

I'm 34 and I just discovered Moody Blues back in 2018 (I listen to a lot of classic rock). The version of Isn't Life Strange in this video brings tears to my eyes everyone I watch it. I don't feel MB ever got their true deserved admiration. Moving forward, I will try to rectify that.
The gentlemen of melodic rock, they can rock it, play it slow, the complete masters of their craft. The music is so life affirming as well.

I can recall when their album "Days of Future Passed" was first released. I was sitting in my English Class senior year of high school with my English teacher asking the class to write what they were feeling when she played the "introduction" to that album. It was my first introduction to this band. Justin Hayward is irreplaceable as a lyrist, musician, and singer. They don't get much better than this. He will always be remembered. His music is timeless.
The early Moody Blues in 1964 were just so so, I don't think they used Moody Blues, just MB 5, their only hit that was memorable is/was GO NOW. It was when Justin Hayward joined, in 1967, that made the Moody Blues memorable. Then they got the nickname as the SMALLEST ORCHESTRA.
I remember when I was in Vietnam, the EM club in DaNang, used to have Philippine Bands come play on weekends, this one group specifically could play Moody Blues songs, like they were recordings, but it was actually them playing. BUT, the crazy thing, THEY COULD NOT SPEAK OR UNDERSTAND ENGLISH.
Other groups that played there, also played the sounds and songs of the Ventures, Beatles, Grassroots, country, rock, blues, THEY WERE SO COOL.

The Legendary Moody Blues. Their music is exceptional and ages like fine wine and cheese. These guys write and perform beautiful music, and none of the members tattooed nor pierced their bodies. They dress tastefully like their music they have written. I own all of their albums and I've never grown tired of them.

Still love the Moody Blues like I did back in 1969 and even before 1969 when I was in HS (graduated '69). Went to see them twice in Atlanta at Chastain Park in the late 70's or early 80's well after I left the USMC. Took my first hit of mescaline listening to the Moody Blues back in 1969 after coming home on Boot Camp leave from the USMC. Of course, I ended up in Vietnam in 1971 - 1972. Sure hated to hear when Ray passed. And with the passing of Edge and Thomas, Justin Hayward was just a great as he's ever been singing lead and playing lead guitar. Just won't be the same without Graeme Edge and Ray Thomas. I'm now 71 years old and still love the Moody Blues. W Rusty Lane K9POW in eastern Tennessee
The Moody Blues are in a class all by themselves. They are melodic and sentimental, but they can rock like no one else. Have seen them live more times than I can count. Their music will definitely stand the test of time. So glad to have had them in my life since the mid-60s when Days of Future Passed came out. They are spectacular.
I was introduced to these guys back in the 70's by one of my troops in Korea. I'm a retired Army S.F.C. (24yrs), 85 on the planet. and I still enjoy listening.
These guys brought rock music to a whole new level.

I am 68 years old and love good music. We have to go back a lot of years in order to find it. I saw these great guys live at the L.A Forum when I was young and when I listen to them I still feel young...just not stoned. Good ole days!
One of the 1st times ever stoned was while hearing the entire "In Search of the Lost Chord" LP straight through. What a mystical experience that was - 1972. Remember it well.
Nearing 73 myself-saw them regularly in Atlanta during the summers at Chastain Park with the Atlanta Symphony. Always a treat!

As a teenager some 45--50 years ago, I loved to get stoned and lay on my bed and let the Moodies take me away. I would listen to songs like Timothy Leary's Dead and Are You Sitting Comfortably, and enter a magical realm that were reserved for the J. R.R. Tolkiens of this world. Girls, my parents, the Vietnam war and who or what was my part in the world would seems to fade from my worries and lift me into my wildest dreams. It was a time like no other. I remember it most fondly, before the reality of life closed in! I've done well with my family and vocationally but on rare occasion my mind drift back to the magic that was the Moody Blues. Times like now. Isn't life strange...?

The FOH man had 2 powder blue glass spherical illuminated accent lights on each side of the console.
I politely asked what they did.
He gave me that knowing sound brother smile, “why, those are the moody blues mate”.

Just paused this show during the song "Isn't Life Strange". There are just so many thoughts running through my mind while watching, I can barely contain myself. The Moody Blues are certainly a gift to humanity if there were nothing else. These songs are pure and meaningful. Beautifully executed by the original members of the group, this performance literally brought me to tears. I have been a huge fan since I was first introduced by my elder brother (himself, a musician) in 1967. I recently turned 60 years old and can't think of any other celebrities I'd rather meet than them in my entire life. They have enriched my very soul. Thank you Moody Blues, for reinforcing the very reason why it is so wonderful to have life. If you ever come to this region of Florida, I'll certainly attend. It would mark my forth time.

This is one of the best recordings of The Moody Blues I’ve heard on TH-cam, they blend so well with the orchestra and both Justin Hayward and John Lodge’s performances of their vocals is perfectly projected, love it and so moving, their guitar playing is iconic alongside Ray Thomas’ Flute and The Keyboard player, is that Paul Bliss? Great percussion that rocks the stage with Greame Edge and the other drummer works well together on different tones of drumming, A memorable performance that will go down in history…their sound fills this wonderful auditorium of great electrifying acoustics at the Royal Albert Hall in London. I first discovered this sound in 1967 with the iconic song Nights in White Satin and have grown old with them, thankyou for the music, Moody Blues 💙🌟🎶🎵🎶💫🎸
The Moodies composed so many great songs that it is really hard to pick a favourite. 'Lovely to see you again' would possibly be top of my playlist. However, 'I know you're out there somewhere' always reminds me of missed opportunities due to youthful ignorance and generally makes me cry.

I'd say that you are correct about no drug or alcohol abuse. Some use, as a spiritual tool to their awakening, but no abuse whatsoever.
They briefly dabbled with drugs in the 60's except John. Justin has said he tried acid 10 or 12 times.

I first heard this band in 1973 when I was 16, I'm now 64, and have loved them every day since then, I never ever tire of them, I listen and watch on TH-cam now but also have their music on my phone so I can hear it via bluetooth when driving. I've seen them twice in concert and loved every moment. My only regret is that I never heard them play Melancholy Man live, a song that descibes myself. They are a truly remarkable group of individuals and even more amazing when together as a group.
Always will remember how they eased my pain after losing best friend in Vietnam thank you always

Mike Riordan I missed Vietnam War for I failed 3rd Grade in 1963, and my Senior Year of High School in 1974, My Biological Daughter Jewel Kilcher is alive because I had a Draft Card for the Vietnam War my random number was 027. And August 25,1974 I ended up in the Special Olympics because I tried to go to Alaska twice to see what my family called my imaginary wife and daughter Jewelry. If I would have gone to Niagara Dragstrip Labor Day Weekend 1973 like I was supposed to Jewel Kilcher would have never been born. No lie , the songs Foolish Games and Enter from the East are about Me !!!! And I didn’t graduate from High School till I was 20 years old in 1975 a year after my daughter was born.

It brings such powerful memories to listen to them. The lyrics are amazing. He says that what you wanted to be, you'll be in the end. I struggled my whole life with my calling as a writer but now that I'm older, I've accepted it. I write every day...novels, poetry. Writing is my whole. In the end, I did find my calling and become a writer.

I'm 75 and have listened to the Moody Blues since the beginning. The greatest band ever
The thing about The Moody Blues is they had tremendous music. The way they orchestrated everything was absolute creative genius. Then you add to that lyrics that had meaning and touched people's hearts and souls. Not many bands have achieved that with a few songs let alone over a lifetime. That more than anything is what makes The Moody Blues so timeless. Their music is relevant today as it was when it was written new.
Days of Future Past had been given to me as a Christmas present in 1969, and I didn't open or listen to the album, as I had no idea who they were. The following year I was drafted at the height of the Vietnam War, and so I joined the Air Force at the last minute, else I was going to belong to the Army . 2 Years later, I'm sitting in my barracks room, bored with all my rock albums which I played all the time, and while I was looking through my collection for something to lift my spirits, I saw the Days of Future Past album, and thought, "What the heck. I'm bored, so I guess I'll listen to it." I had a huge stereo system by then, and on the intro, I WAS BLOWN AWAY. I've been a Moody since then, and I thank their music for helping me get through those times when things were tough, lonely, and not knowing what was going to happen to me, as I learned to, "Breathe deep the gathering gloom."
I was fortunate to see them in concert twice after the reunited, but never got to see them with Mike Pindar.

I was so lucky to go to their concert for my 15th birthday in 1972. It was the first time ever the San Diego Sports Arena sold out. They were, and still are, spectacular. Wishing you love and joy
How did we all get here so fast? The Music of the Moody Blues will never die. Saw them first in 1972 in Hollywood FL at the old Sportatorium. What a concert! They cast a spell on the whole place.
This is one of the most unique bands with a sound that penetrates the subconscious and fills the senses. They’ve given me great enjoyment and provided some calm-escape in a chaotic and often unsettling world.

It has been said Barclay James Harvest are similar. They even recorded a song called Poor Man's Moody Blues but I don't think they are in the same league. The Moodies and Queen are the 2 greatest bands ever. The puzzle is why the Moodies are underrated. They can all song snd Justin's voice is one ofcthe best in popular music.

I saw them in the early 80's, with a guy I'd never heard of, Stevie Ray Vaughan, opening for them. A decade or so later, I got to see them with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic. What a show!

I have my brother to thank for introducing me to the Moody Blues at age 13 or 14. He knew I liked both rock & classical music, and got me the album Days of Future Passed for Christmas. "I think you might like this" he said. 50+ years later he could not have been more correct.
i had gotten some record store gift certificates, so my brother fearing i would buy some junk at the time took them and bought all moody blues albums. can't stand him today but it was a great choice then.
While not dismissing their music, which is wonderful, but there's something in their voices that always tears me up. There's an emotional component beyond words.

I agree completely. That and "Legend of a Mind" are my favorites from this, but all songs are wonderful. I can only imagine experiencing this concert, the emotional rollercoaster. Fantastic!
34 years ago, my soon to be husband told me "The Question" made him think of me each time he heard it. We were married on Hana, Maui on this day shortly after, under a waterfall, just a pastor, his wife, and a backpacking surfer who gifted a papaya that the pastor blessed. What an amazing day.
Such magick & talent in each of them…passing on the dreams of the heart with the voices and words of angels. How I feel each time that I hear them. I’m so thankful I lived at the right time on this earth to listen to them and the Beatles. But We’ll not see their like again.

Ray was the lead singer in a precursor band to the MB's El Riot and The Rebels with John Lodge.
I'm 47 years old, I've literally listened to the Moody Blues since I was born, and I still love these guys more today than ever!!! RIP Ray, the rest of you carry on, I hope I am half as cool as you guys when I get to where you are!!!

At seventy seven, i can still remember tbe first time i heard the Moody blues, and i was hooked.
I was at the time playing in a band myself, and it was the flute that b got me i went out and bought a silver James Galway, still have it.
It really took me places to, i found out why the moody blues were so infectous musically, and being able to play a number of instruments, as well as being lead singer ment i never was idle, but i was very much aware that it was a tall order to keep doing it, i finished playing publically when i hit sixty five, and now enjoy playing just for my own benifit, along with anyone who wants too listen.
I can say that its the most adictive thing you can do, the money ks good but it does not come anywhere near the sound you hear from the adience, thats where the adiction comes from, and tbe Moody blues deserve every bit they get, i can i think name every album they came out with, but i am not writtimg them all here, it would take too long for a start,i think it more fitting to,say that each one was a gem.
It was they that gave me emcoragement for most of my time playing.
The complete change from one album to the next is incredible, thanks from tbe bottom of my heart for such a wonderful sound that can only be the MOODY BLUES!!!!!!!!!
I'm 67 now, I started listening and loving this music as it first came out. I still listen and love it... For many years, I kept several tapes on my boat, it was the only music allowed at lights out, in the deep canyons of Lake Powell.... love every minute of their music...
I'm not quite that old Mike, but this was one of the groups I grew up with just the same. They really are artists in the true sense of the word.

I had a 27' Hardtop/kitchen/head/slept 5-screwed10lol. kept it Bullfrog for about 10 years/ smaller boat before that. I spent 4 consecutive days each month (every month) on the water.

I believe the strings, flutes, piccolo, barrel drums, were what made this group so special, so incredibly unique. No one has ever sounded the least bit like them and frankly never will...at 71 my memories of that time, 1967, 68, 69...are some of the best of my life. You can never feel anything but good listening to them. And then there is Justin....that strong jawline is still there...getting better looking, better sounding as the years pass, they have treated him very well. Oops...this is very old.. he is 75 now and not looking like this...still great though.

The Moody Blues was a miraculous reunion of Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Mike Pinder and Ray Thomas. Individually they were superb song writers, instrumental players and singers.

I've always knew I'm an old soul , even being "only 33" . And this wonderful travel takes me to times I've never lived on, but only phisically...cause in heart and soul, I was there.
