It is almost imperative to truly appreciate this performance if you find the version with the English subtitles. For us, it totally enhances our understanding of the anguish that Lara is actually feeling as she goes through those lyrics. Perhaps one of the world's best voices and interpreters. I've followed her since seeing her in Brussels in 1996. She always stuns me with her rich, lustrous tone and the way she connects with her audience. Just an " fyi", you have the ( short ) version of this piece...there is another with about 2 1/2 minutes more!! In total , from the beginning of her last very long note(17.5seconds) to the actual close..when she actually has come out of her emotional trance from this song.. Is just at 2 1/2 minutes! The ending is really needed to complete the full monty..with this cover, by Serge and Alice.. I know that the captions are not always the correct words but it was enough that I understood. Music affects me in many different ways even when I don't understand the words. Personally I love her performance back in 1998 on the stage of the Stade de France singing with the French Rock'n'roll legend Jonny Hallyday... fantastic and powerful duet... I was there and still remember all the goosebumps that song produced on me. Amazing singer

Still an awesome voice and technique, but somehow less powerful in her rendition. Late 90s/early 2000 Lara was a stage beast. A real interpret more than a simple singer. Enjoy this concert but also the 1999 “En toute intimité” show or her 2002 live concert in Paris. Some real emotional gems there. Lara is one of those artists who has a deep connection with her audience and fans. As she said one day, her fans might love her more for her personality, her simplicity but her wholesomeness than for her songs.

Perhaps one of the world's best voices and interpreters. I've followed her since seeing her in Brussels in 1996. She always stuns me with her rich, lustrous tone and the way she connects with her audience. If you roll that video for another 15 seconds past the end of the song you'll note that she doesn't come out of the character at all.
And she still has her voice where slot of her contemporaries have lost theres

This song is probably the absolute best song I e ever become addicted to in all my years. Found Lara 2 years ago and feel cheated of the many years she had been a performer and I didn’t know her music,
I discovered her almost 2 yrs ago as well, and I had the exact same experience of feeling cheated out of all these yrs. There's never been another artist that made me feel like that.

Texas les61 I understand. Im just saying like the emotion in the song overwhelms you that much, speaking you cant understand it is a little odd but to each their own. French is a beautiful language, but can be very complicated when coming to grammatical laws. Best of luck.
@@devyn4189 yes the emotion of the song overwhelms me that much. I also watched the video with the captions turned on. I know that the captions are not always the correct words but it was enough that I understood. Music affects me in many different ways even when I don't understand the words. I'm not sure why or how that happens but to say that music is a universal language and that is what I understand. Have a wonderful Sunday and week ahead.
Personally I love her performance back in 1998 on the stage of the Stade de France singing with the French Rock'n'roll legend Jonny Hallyday... fantastic and powerful duet... I was there and still remember all the goosebumps that song produced on me.

Typical first reaction to a Lara Fabian live show (especially from that era). Nowadays Lara is somehow quieter on stage. Still an awesome voice and technique, but somehow less powerful in her rendition.
Late 90s/early 2000 Lara was a stage beast.
A real interpret more than a simple singer.
Enjoy this concert but also the 1999 “En toute intimité” show or her 2002 live concert in Paris. Some real emotional gems there.
Lara is one of those artists who has a deep connection with her audience and fans.
As she said one day, her fans might love her more for her personality, her simplicity but her wholesomeness than for her songs.

Been a fan and watching/listening to Lara for over 20 years. No other singer can sing with the emotion, tone, passion and out right what I call and aire of "tragedy"........she becomes the words, she has total "immersion" into the lyrics......who else does that? No one I can think of....The whole CD titled Lara Fabian, 1999 was the best IMO.........

Lara is dazzling!! Everthing she does is so artful and yet so intensely human and so raw. I only learned of her via Dimash about 4 months ago, and now I am both a Dear and a Lara fan. I wish I had heard of her years ago but I will make up for that lost time. She is soulful and fearless, totally in the story of the song!! This song is an emotional bomb that goes off in your system that I can only compare to the stunning and emotional effects of listening to the wonderful Dimash Kudaibergen who is a great admirer of hers. He sings many of her songs, or songs that she once sung. My suggestion: Don't watch this before a business meeting or any important engagement!!! Unless falling tears and a Kleenex go with your outfit! This one..this one takes a little time to recover from!
