Mic Roundup Part 3: Little Brother Mic Lineup

- In this quirky comparison, Justin Colletti from Sonic Scoop tests out so-called “little brother” microphones, named thus because each capsule displayed herein is the wallet-friendly version of a signature, flagship, and loftily-priced model. But just because these microphones won’t break the bank doesn’t mean they’re in anyway inferior-in fact, it’s quite the opposite; as Justin puts vocals through the AKG 214, the Mojave MA-50, the Telefunken CU-29 Copperhead, and the Royer R-101, you’ll hear just how much they have to offer.

Thank you so much Justin! I was considering both the 214 and the Mojave MA 50 but haven't seen any comparisons till this. Thank you!
Telefunken cu29 👌🏽
In addition to sounding great, the copperhead is also quite a looker.
The Telefunken takes it for me. Thanks B&H
Great review! Great line up.
Great review, thank you Justin
The only way I could feel more comfortable calling the Mojave mic the most natural-sounding here would be if I knew this man personally and had experience in that room. The MA-50 keeps ending up on my short list, and I honestly don't know why it's not getting the hype that some other mics are getting.
I’m very interested in it also tbh very underrated in my opinion
AKG sounds great
Scary how close the Mojave sounds to the Telefunken, for just about a third of the price. Wow.
Respect!
Man the Royer 101
Add the Neumann TLM101/ aka Sennheiser MK4 for $299...fantastic for TH-cam vocals.
Great review but where is the la 220? :/
If you are referring to the Lauten Audio FET Studio Condenser Microphone (Black) B&H # LA220 then we may include this in a future video. It's mid $200 price point precludes comparison with the group of mics reviewed above. It's a great sounding mic for the money and ideal for home studio use. >Mark
The AKG c414 XLS is maybe not much better than the c214 BUT the AKG c414 Xii is much better than both. When you talk about the c414, you should say witch one XLS/Xii
