@Produce Like A Pro, what I wouldn’t give for a tube mic. My dream mic is a Telefunken ELAM 251. I’ve been really impressed with the Warm WA 251 and would love to go after one of those mics.

What a sweet, but haunting, tune, and another of Manny's excellent, sensitive productions. Love the atmosphere, around the minimal performance, and love the touches of magic around the edges. Superb

Nice job overall, although this seems to be more of a mix walkthrough and not specifically about the MA-37, which doesn't get a lot of time over the nearly 1hr video. Dry placement, pre amp choices A/B, EQ reception at source while tracking, comparisons on same source with other mics etc. would've been both cool and helpful. Just my thoughts, as I'm in the market for a MA-37 right now. Cheers.

Cool. I hear a bit of Björk in there. The Sony was a favorite of mine at Danny Dallas’ studio Sound Patterns in Detroit back in the 1970s. Very distinct, clear but smooth. Great on guitar amp and many other things.

@@mannysmiclocker I know you’ll really enjoy it! It sounds incredible on lots of things. We have seen a lot of usages on the Internet on acoustic instruments and voice, but I think it really shines on saxophones especially if you’re into bebop and like partial harmonics being picked up as cleanly and distinctly as the fundamental tone. It also sounds pretty awesome as a drum overhead. The only thing I don’t like about it has nothing to do with the microphone but rather, because I am a blind audio engineer and to change the polar pattern from UNIdirectional to Omny requires you sticking a screwdriver in the back of the microphone which makes me nervous lol. so, I make the interns do it LOL!

It's a cool tune but I'm not sure this is a showcase production for the MA-37. To my ears the recording sounds boomy and cluttered. The guitarrón and the cajón feel like they're fighting to occupy the same space. The lyrics are hard to understand and the reverb is kind of dense and bloated.
