UT 99 GOTY edition. Started playing right when broadband was coming online. Low gravity, insta-gib, shock rifle, capture the flag. Custom maps, huge worlds, custom skins. The absolute best FPS ever made.
Yes! This is exactly what I've been looking for - subtle remasters with original style preserved. There are many remixes around, but they lose that 90's tracker music style. Love this so much. Those memories will live forever. See you all on the other side, brothers!
Thanks, I agree there aren't enough authentic remixes out there, which is why I started this project. While stuck at home in 2020 I went deep into the remixes out there simply for my own entertainment, and got frustrated that most of them lose the original vibe of the music. I started making these simply because they are what I would want to hear as a listener, and I was sure there are others out there looking for the same. Glad to have you aboard 😎👍
So great to read all the Comments. We kind of share the same feeling about this specific time and Game experience. I will never forget how we played UT on Lan together just with 5 People against Bots for a whole Weekend! Loved it! :-D
I loved doing humans vs. bots matches. Before we had the bandwidth for voice chat, it was all about getting together IRL. Also easier to catch a hacker, and when you do, you just grab their computer and toss it out on the front lawn.
This is wonderful how music can literally transfer you in time and let you experience the past like it is a reality. UT99 will never be forgotten, it is a true masterpiece to this day and the community reviews are the reflection of it, I haven't seen a single negative review on it.
5 am, listening to this piece of art while immersed in a peaceful and dark atmosphere...truly magical. Wish I could share this feeling with someone special in the future.
Man... what a crazy time to be alive. Brings back so many memories. All the lan party's where we played this. Times sure have changed. Thanks for the remix.
As a 90s kid this kind of music will always be amazing to me. Unfortunately most of it died in the 90s (except if you look around the underground scene nowadays), so we'll always come back to this!
This track is one of the best tracks that's ever come out from the 90's era. It's still a classic to this day. Brings back so many good memories. See you all out there!
I have the sound track from long ago. Skyward is a favorite. Thank you for posting this. However. I don't remember this map to this song. I think I remember running that map. Running across or getting an Instagib boost over the terrain to the other side. Static clips of the map. No game play in the video. Capture the flag, low grav, instagib. So fun.
Agreed that Skyward is a banger. The map has such great atmosphere and the music is a big part of that. If you ever want to see which maps used which songs this page is helpful: unreal.fandom.com/wiki/Music
Oh yes, I still remember my first Lava Giant CTF, almost 3 hours of fighting bots on novice level and listening to that track! lol :) That beat just grew into my head forever :) Thanks!
lmao! same I put everything on max time and lives on this map on dreamcast but when I played for too long the game would freeze… I was never able to finish a single game on this map at max settings 😂
I absolutely love this, the last memory I have of this map was actually about 10 years ago I setup a 12 man LAN in my basement and had all my buds over, this map was definitely the star of the night and ill always remember this fondly. Great mix! Thank you for your work.
Thanks, this song has some of the best atmosphere in the original Unreal games and matches the map perfectly. I do a LAN party a few times a year and we mostly play this kind of stuff.
Literally just got recommended to me. Holy shit this is Awesome! Love UT so much. Damn easy sub! Wait ...4 hrs. Jfc I was expecting like 10 mins not 4 hrs that's like 😂 can we have a all in one mix of all the UT tracks in a 4 hr block.
I do have playlists for this purpose though, like this one for the Unreal remixes and remasters: th-cam.com/play/PLmB0y8YAkHQrHOo7Echwqhn9abCtT534W.html And then here's the playlist for extended Unreal mixes: th-cam.com/play/PLmB0y8YAkHQrfuKAUNUFO5ddqPUWkdMAu.html
Thanks for uploading. Been listening to this track a lot as is so will definitely get a lot of use out of this, this kinda thing really helps me focus lately.
The good stuff! I'm losing my mind watching this now because seems like we used almost the same angle for the static shots in so many places. I can't believe I accidentally plagiarized a video I haven't watched before 😂
I think this is actually a perfect OST track. I spent so much time on Lavagiant on various game modes, especially U4E Gauntlet. This track isn't so much emblematic of the level as it is of UT99 as a whole. It's not very complicated, but it's incredibly good. I believe this is also the track for RA-Shinigami, which I also played an incredible amount of, in mostly U4E Gauntlet, with relics. The Relic of Redemption is OP when you can grab it to respawn in other areas. I would always spawn about 4 of each relic to allow overlap. Man... I really played the hell out of this game in my teens.
UT99 was a lifestyle back then... we didn't have 900,000 games available to instantly download from Steam. And custom maps kept the game fresh, even though the stock maps were great and stood the test of time. I liked the relic mod too. Good times
This level was so much pain in online battles, since with such long open areas, and crapload of sniper players - usually it was near impossible to grab a flag at all.
Yeah any open map like this can be completely dominated by snipers. I know other games like Team Fortress the server can enforce a sniper limit but I don't remember if I remember any mods like that for UT
Just played a few rounds of Deathmatch against bots on my phone (Played the ps2 version on Aethersx2) and this appeared in my recommended XD It's awesome to see so many people mention their nostalgia for this game, playing online on this game's prime, or on lan with their friends, but I was pretty late to the party, I'm probably on the younger side of UT99s fanbase, I didn't get to experience playing with other people on custom servers with all sorts of cool mutators and mods installes, but I still grew up with this game. Tho, unlike a lot of people here I had only bots to play with, but god damn if this isn't one of the best offline Arena Shooters out there, the AI could pose a challenge, and the cheer sense of style this game had was amazing. Seriously, I kinda hate energy weapons in video games because they're usually so lame looking and sounding, they look like cartoon weapons and aren't threatening at all...except the ones in this game, tho, my favorite weapon in the game (and maybe of all video games) is the Flak Cannon. Anyway, I'm glad people got to experience this when it was new and groundbreaking, and hopefully made lots of friends along the way, this is a cool game, a really freaking cool one and it will always have a special place in my heart. I wonder how many people here actually played together in the past without knowing, and now are sharing an experience together years later, once again brought closer by this masterpiece.

@@VintageModernRemixes back here to listen to this again, hehe :) Sorry I just saw your response. I like the new name btw. Thanks for everything and all the best!
I can tell you exactly why. Because that's actually what nostalgia feels like. You are happy because you fondly remember these things, but you are sad, because you will **never** experience them like you used to. We can never go back in time. This track to me, smells like gaming in 2003, in my aunt's house where I lived. The computer room had a single window that I would open during the florida winter, when it's actually worthwhile. The smell of old computer parts in the corner that my dad collected, both his and my computers running, the CRT monitors making that high frequency whine you learn to unhear after a while. The occasional waft of the cat box, promptly overwritten by the smell of the neighbor's trees. I love it. But I can never have that again. It will, however, live on forever in my memory.
@@ArnieMcStranglehold This totally makes sense. And what you just wrote is really beautiful. Not sure this is the right word but i love your explanation :D
