print on sticker, peel off, then place on sliding glass doors. when you open the door, you get animation. just one artistic application. you heard it here from me first. windows work, too.
It doesn't have some form of super vision. It sees exactly what you see. The only difference being, it can't understand it's an illusion and tries to play with the moving shapes.
Can you imagine a tattoo with this ??????? For awhile it would work i think. But holy shit how friggin cool. Also having to carry around that piece to run over the tat might get to be a pain in the ass lol.
I get that it's an optical illusion. But, fundamentally, if your brain perceives this as motion, and your perception suggests these are moving, isn't it actually moving? Or are we just speaking literally, that without an observer there isn't any motion? Well... there's motion of the lines over the illustration, too.... There I go overthinking. Okay... just enjoy the pretty effects.
That's cool... I think that the top and the bottom film both have specific polarization to light as specific places which makes it look like its moving.
Actually it looks more like that the striped picture on the bottom just has every frame in it closely attached... The foil with the see through gaps just reveal one part of the pictures and your brain just fills in the gaps. That's why it stops moving when he stops. If you'd measure the width of the black part and divided it through the width of the clear part you should get the number of frames you have in that animation. But this is just my theory :D
stroboscopic effect of two opposing image layers plus image delay on retinal sensors plus black white optical effect on specific retinal sensors that send impulses to brain. The magick is in the clever way the designers have understood all this to print out the image layer. The transparency acts as an interference pattern. A bit like holography.
NequissimusMusic Hi, I had to go some research on this. I was thinking of persistence of vision, but this is more in line with blank frames between image frames not being seen as part of a moving subject in cinema. Polarization! I can see where your idea comes into this but I think something called Phi or and Beta phenomena is more closely responsible. As the vertical lines move across the static image they switch on and off elements of the image to produce a moving effect similar to LED or Rope light running patterns which is an optical illusion appearing to animate. As I see it there is a mix of phenomena lateral inhibition being another. I mention Holography because in that case we have an image emerging from two seemingly nonsense visual data sources. Whatever the science it is magical and illuminates questions on vision reality if that makes sense. Check out the science on the duality nature of electrons if you haven't already done so. The holographic universe is a good youtube video.
If anybody doesn't actually understand how this thing works, the answer is here. Basically, if you haven't noticed yet, has a clear sheet of paper with opaque black bars. the opaque black bars are separated by clear spaces that are 5 times smaller. The spaces allow you to see through the sheet, but only allow you to see one part of the sheet. When you move the sheet, you reveal different parts of the picture below and the black bars give you enough room to hide 5 frames at a time, meanwhile the sixth is visible.
DOESNT EXPLAIN A SHIT AS TO WHY THE IMAGE MOVE.. IS ANIMATED AND DOESNT CORRESPOD AT ALL TO THE BAR BUT GIVE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FIGURE. YOU DONT KNOW EITHER, AND THATS IT.
RETOUR AU DEMOS KRATOS PAR L'ISÉGORIA It's simple. Remember those 5 frames I was talking about. You can put five different images on those, and if each one is in a different place then you will perceive it as motion. I thought most people knew that though.
kindpotato I got that part about movement, but how do I make this kind of image with six frames together? Maybe I should take 6 consecutive same size images, slice them at multiples of 6 each one, take the first frame and delete the next 5, so I do that with all the images in a consecutive way, put all these slices together in a single image and then we have magic??? hahahahahahahah well, now it makes sense for me, but is too mind blowing hahaha but is my idea right? xD
kindpotato It's not easy, it'd be useful to see a video on how the desired effect is converted into what's actually printed. For instance, in the first illusion how can we see a gear when a gear is not printed at all on the white sheet?
andrea rampoldi Well, the picture is there except it's surrounded by bits of the other frames so it look a bit confusing. The black bars cover all of the confusing bits up so you can clearly see the gears.

Really liked the one at 1:00, the cat almost looked real!
That was really amazing. Cats have to be in everything.
these types of illusions should be used in big billboard advertisements!
It's cool how cats can see these too. I wonder what other animal can.
I know, it goes to show that some animals may have the samd view at these kind of optical illusions as we do!
Harry Dempsey Dude it's not an illusion. What you are seeing is right. That's why the camera is picking it up.
no shit they can see it
Siri Bright well youre an animal so...
DIVERTIR SIEMPRE nah, they perceive time differently to us, flies can see the black spaces between frames on TV.
Those last two blew me away.
Ah oui.. Non mais là c'est plus de l'illusion d'optique !
C'est carrément incroyable.
C'est vrai, c'est trop bien !
Wow I honestly didn't believe that these illusions could be THIS complicated! Amazing.

These illusions..are just epic.
Its like SUPERHOT, the faster you move the faster the "animation" moves, the slower you move the slower it moves.
