Seeing this and hearing the music. It reminds me of days gone when i would cone home from another fun day at school. Eating a quick meal and continuing my playthrough.
More and more I'm reminded of that ending. Sweet oblivion coming inevitability while hoping I can stay in my happiest times, even if it's a wonderful dream I'll never wake from.
Dude just sold me in some obscure probably 20 year old JRPG of no renown, but extreme devotion and passion- and his entire channel. Lovely foire into your channel, and I look forward to binging your videos this break.

Fantastic game, though I was never as fond of it as I was with Shadow hearts 1 or Koudelka since I couldn't really get into the hardcore tonal dissonance in comparison to Koudelka and the first Shadow Hearts mostly sticking to its tone at least for the story itself, Yuri's journey being so personal and what he goes through is a lot more engaging than the events in 2, you fight a god in space in the first one, and in the 2nd it's just

I get why, the parallels between him and Yuri both losing someone and wanting them back, just the stakes were definitely a lot grander in the first and I wasn't being taken out of the game's story in every other cutscene as I was in Covenant haha. I miss those vibes.
Regardless of what I said tho, Covenant is still an amazing game, definitely the best battle system, and still a really fun time to go through even if it isn't entirely what I wanted out of a sequel.
Penny Blood, the spiritual successor to the series said they'll be going for a more koudelka/shadow hearts 1 vibe so that personally has me really excited! I really do hope development on that goes well and they make a solid game.

So I never finished shadow hearts 2 all those years ago. Giving up as soon as you pick up Anastasia. But I might have to jump back in and give it another go as this video also gave me a wave of nostalgia. I never enjoyed the darker tone of the game as a kid with the more somber music and settings. But now I'm old and smart maybe I can appreciate it more.
Also that town song is such a banger, as soon as I heard the first notes I remembered how good it was.
I always interpreted the Yuri inpalied ending as his soul moving on to the afterlife. The train being the method his soul uses. Nice to hear more interpretations.

Still have my copies of all 3 Shadow Hearts. Even though three was a major disappointment after waiting ages for its release I still love SH & SH Covenant to this day. When Yuri tries to bring back Alice still breaks my heart to this day!!!

Brace yourself, From The New World isn’t as good, it is serviceable through.
Covenant’s good ending, has resonated with me to this day, since it’s not just one, but two games’ best endings.
