All of these interviews are great, but when the guest are great storytellers these interviews become some of the most captivating stories I've ever heard. Cheers for the show Cox!
This was a great interjew the time just flew and you to combined work very well together to. And what a crazy story so glad you made it. And enjoy life and your work to help people is awesome ✌🏼 Thank to you both so i could hear this story
I watch 2 or 3 videos every night, for the last few months . I'm definitely hooked on the content. This particular video was one of my favorites. Some people can tell about their past and keep you interested. He's very humble with a great story. Good job Christopher and Matt👍💯
Matt is HYSTERICAL!! You are my favorite show to watch lately...😂🤣😅 I'm an old lady now but watching your interviews reminds me of my bad girl days and I find myself smiling remembering I ONCE had a life with "the 😂bad boys"...
Congrats on 300k Matt and Colby , keep killing it!!! Nothing I look more too more than winding down my day after work then listening to your episodes. If it’s a night u don’t drop one I’ll Rewatch a older one. You channel is hands down my favorite!!
On a side note, I learned that people will turn on you to save their skin in 7th grade. I had moved back to public school the last half of my 7th grade year and linked up with the only person I knew who was my nephew (we are the same age). His friend, who was the leader of the group who would organize activities like throwing dinner rolls or water balloons over the walkway after school, gave me the speech about not snitching. I never participated the couple of times I was with them when they did that. The one time I dropped a water balloon over the side (no one around) him and a couple of random kids I didn't know got caught, and I got away. Somehow, the next day, the principal came to me and asked me about it, and I confessed. I learned that day the tough guy leader expects loyalty one way.
Finally! Someone broke down the proper terminology/names of prisons and correctional facilities/institutions. Just like how dudes try to say, “I was in the penitentiary” when they were in a medium level state joint. A penitentiary is a maximum level federal prison. There is no sate with a currently operating “State Penitentiary”
Great ep. You should maybe think about getting your producer a mic so when he jumps into the convo the audience can hear what he’s saying. Might add another extra element to the show. Either way, always a fan
Your talking about something familiar to my short stay experience at a woman's facility regarding the feeling of not wanting to leave after feeling safe and secure while in custody...that feeling of EVERY TIME there's a knock at the door or some place cops show up and feeling like there's going to be trouble and it always reminds me of THE LAST LINE in the shawshank redemption ....it took years until I didn't have that traumatic memory..😢😢😢
About the Marshals knock to retrieve you.. High School has the same affect on me..I dream of sometimes not finishing a class and having return to complete 10, 11 or even 12th grade. Weird!!!!
Matt Cox using those people skills and the money maker face for a good thing, crazy how far he went doing the wrong thing before he was out of prison. Doing great brother!
I was a CO for three years, quit it bc I couldn’t watch them treat people like shit. It’s corrupted all the way up. They’ll do whatever they need to make their stats.
This brings back memories. One of the very few things good about jail for me was I was able to accept the fact that everything on the outside was out of my control. It’s an actually liberating not having to worry about bills and work. It became less stressful then normal life. But I was at a clean jail with decent people. Not a bunch of extreme scumbags. I thought I was gonna get two years house arrest that’s what my probation officer was recommending to the judge and the judge gave me one year in jail in four years probation. And I also didn’t have any kids so that made time a lot better. I couldn’t imagine having an infant while being in there.
I went into treatment 2014 later that year my two buddy went did arm robbery one got shot 6 times with ak47 both during a lot of time in prison I like to think I would have been in that car if I didn’t go shake off the drugs I was on in fact I know I would have been ! Grateful I was hooked on dope to save my life
Fantastic interview as normal just realized at the end of this one this guy was locked up right before the invasion and didn’t get out til we left basically
Hi Matt, I love your show. You mentioned on this show that there may be something in works about possibly getting rights back to own a gun if been connected of a felony. My felony was 35 years ago.I live in Pennsylvania. Can you elaborate a little more on that? Maybe on one of your future shows. Anything would be appreciated. It's not always a big fan of your show.. thanks.
Oh yeah, my asshole girlfriend of three years broke up with me while I was in there and I was so programmed that I took her off my visitation list because I’d rather see nobody than see somebody who’s gonna piss me off. I didn’t call her one time after that. I had some pretty good discipline. And the people who came to see me I still fuck with them to this day. You really find out who your friends are. It definitely made me appreciate everything on the outside and now every stressful situation is fucking joke.
He says “he got 98 years” Matt goes “gulp” lmfao ,you know your human when you have done a bang of time and when someone you don’t even know gets get a shitton of time , you can feel it like it was you getting the time. That’s why we love ya Matt
I was sitting in the holding cell when one dude come back from court and got 33 years he was a black dude but he looked white he was so distraught dude robbed 2 stores and shot a clerk in Stafford va.
Every time I visit someone in prison or jail, which is rare, I have had to tell the personnel there. I am not an inmate, so please stop speaking to me like one. They will apologize but the next time you go, they treat you the same way, but I remind them
I'm searching for Neurotherapy and unable to find clinics. If anyone knows how to look this up I would greatly appreciate it. Great podcasts thank you so much.
Only thing I have say I no so great interview and nice to teach the younger and me still learn but if u do the crime do the time but staute for teach the youth no such things as friends and family
OK. So if the statute says that you're supposed to do 20 years, you're saying don't take a plea, just tell them you'll do the 20 years? Listen bro, that little phrase: don't do the crime if you can't do the time, may very well be the dumbest catchphrase ever uttered.
@Hawkeyes319 that's what I'm wondering. Did he get medically discharged? If so, did he even get out of basic training. He is playing the veteran status up a ton for someone that did 1 year at most.
Hey, Matt, few episodes ago I saw someone comment about a ridiculous sentence they got and you replied to him to contact you. I was just wandering is this that same guy? I hope his story reaches some of the young audience thinking they are thugs and not knowing how one stupid decision can cost them their life...
🤣 that's all I wanted when I got out was a cheeseburger fries and Coke, so I totally get it. The McDonald's cheeseburger is a little slice of freedom. 🙂
I wonder if that shithole Powhatan was still open when he went to reception? That was the only reception center prison in Virginia for a long time before they shut it down. Not air conditioner in the summer. No heat in the winter. It was a real shit hole.
Matt or Kobe my dad been in and out prision my dad says no death penalty you just do solitary confinement that would make people straight your whole sentence…
This guy has stated …I was just a 19 year old kid at least 5 times …well 19 years is not a kid …he is still trying to justify it …accept what you done was wrong on any level
Knowing right and wrong and truly understanding the consequences of said actions are two different things… I think his mentioning that is more along the lines of not truly understanding the consequences that his actions carried vs not taking accountability.
If you show me a BB gun then I’m thinking you’re either trying to rob someone or use it as intimidation to escalate to something else. But telling me I’m the driver and I can’t know where I’m going even tho I already know about the fugazi grip isn’t protecting me any 💀
Glad I got the chance to tell my story 💯
Thank you Matt for having a making platform.
Thanks for sharing your story. Wishing you the best.

Bro, I'm glad you liked it! Please share the video.
@@InsideTrueCrimewill do for sure Matt! You deserve all the recognition.
I've never been to jail or prison, but I was committed to a state mental hospital in the 1980's. Being institutionalized sucks
I’ve done both. Neither were very fun. I’m good now though.
Good thing you made it out. Must have just barely missed nurse Ratched.
Listened to less than 35 minutes of this and it hits hard. Thanks for putting this video up, hope people watch and learn

One question is how long were you in the military? Usually, someone serves at least 3 years before getting out. Did he have a medical discharge?
I enlisted at 17, got in trouble and given a general discharge at 19 for fighting off base..
