How to check the ignition coil of a Citroen/Peugeot 16Valve petrol engine (KFU)

The DTC stored was P0304, which indicates a fourth cylinder engine misfire. Generic DTC´s maybe due to electronic and mechanic faliures.
Then, you have to be a methodical person, and analyze the symptoms produced by engine until you find the misfire cause.
First, I check the properly power supply of the ignition coil and the ground (negative) connection. Both OK.
Later, I check with my multimeter the electrical wire continuity between ignition coil module and the PCM (ECU) module to discard a wiring faliure. All OK.
After, I remove the ignition coil assembly of the cylinder head, and I remove the fourth cylinder spark plug.
The status of the spark plug is OK. There are no signs of engine oil entry to combustion chamber, not remains of unburned fuel.
Finally, I measure the electric resistance of the primary winding of each ignition coil (this engine, has 4 ignition coils)
The resistance of the primary winding of the fourth cylinder ignition coil is 0,1 ohms, It´s a short circuit,
so the ignition coil assembly must be replaced.

Yo tengo un 307 gasolina 16V pero motor 1.6. pero la bobina no es la misma. A veces da fallo a altas rpm y como dices al principio el motor no pasa De 4k rpm

Exacto. El 1.6 ( NFU ) lleva bobina de chispa perdida, es totalmente diferente a esta. No obstante, se puede medir fácilmente la resistencia de los dos devanados primarios. Los secundarios también son medibles aunque no tengo datos.

@@Tornillosycables yo tengo un C4 que da perchones y ba muy mal cuando no aceleró y se enciende la luz naranja del motor. Me han dicho que puede ser la bovina. No tengo ni idea de electrónica ni automóviles pero he visto que parece fácil
