I'm 50 now and been addicted to drum n bass since day 1 and I gotta say intelligent is my fav sub genre ,the blue note back in the day was the best times
This is what's important that even beyond the grave people like Tango are still touching and improving peoples lives with the music they made. I was blessed to be there first time round but to see people commenting here about only just discovering this magical era of music and it meaning something to them does nothing but cement my belief in this being nothing but special. We've all been trying to replicate this innovation for years. A True Pioneer!
Ello Gary,89/90 wow 🤩 didn’t we have sumit special so wish we could time travel, those were the best of times 👌really really special times ..stay safe bud one ☝️ love ❤️
This tune requires the volume to be turned up to maximum boost I used to go insane when this tune come on a definite floor filler 😮 big up tango and Ratty true pioneers bringing it large 👟👟👟👟👟👟🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
As a 43 year old I can easily say, we were witness and privileged to the birth of the greatest music scene that has ever existed! ...And as a teenager/young man in the early 1990's I was so blessed with these sounds vibrating the walls throughout my mum and dads house......"pissing them right off".......hehe
Heard this as a kid didn't remember it until I a few days ago been bumping this and the remix ever since. P.s. thus us great music 5o do martial arts to.
This tune is the first I ever herd of any underground music. I was in a large warehouse waiting for truck to be loaded on a damp foggy night, 3am. Forklifts buzzing around and this tune blasting throughout the hole place. Very eerie .. I was 12 years old. Never forgot that sound nor the mental pictures of that warehouse everytime I hear this. Awesome.
REST IN PEACE, JAMIE. WE ALL WILL NEVER EVER LET YOUR MEMORY BE FORGOTTEN. YOU WERE THE ADDICTION FOR MY GENERATION AND DESERVE MORE PROPS THAN THE PRODIGY.
Nah, sorry mate, he doesn't deserve more props than The Prodigy. The Prodigy have a body of work that is second to none in dance music history. Tango was brilliant but no match for Liam Howlett, and this is coming from an old skool raver from 90-94 when I stopped going coz the music got shit! The Prodigy are treated very unfairly because they were mainstream and not underground.
The prodigy as a mainstream group released waaay too much. They did cross over and were experimental. In that some of the stuff didn't work. Tango and ratty made less. This track does sound like the embodiment of breakbeats/darkcore/jungle stuff that works wonders with the right speakers. Sometimes comparisons are misleading. Some originate, others immitate, the rest appreciate
Nuff respect to the bad boy Ratty, r,i,p Tango, a fine producer, one of the best, and Ratty's chopping style still to this day inspires me on the wheels of steel. I still listen weekly his mixes along with some other originators. I and well as other still get much enjoyment from the 91-93 golden era of an evolutionary leap in music. Much love and respect to all the oldskool ravers, dj's, producers. Heaven surely has gor all of this time recorded so one day we can all relive the glory!
I had this tune going round and round my head after a night at The Sanctuary, Milton Keynes one time. A whole three hours travelling home to York. Bloody phet!
He’s a legend bro I have this copy in my attic I remember being so high when this came on in the club in nottm called Gold...I went nuts hahaha good times never to be repeated. 😪
I have lost count how many classic anthems were made during my raving days so many timeles classics that I know I'll be shaking a leg to when I'm a very old geezer .A big shout out to everyone who made my memories unforgettable... Bless👊🏽
This was very Basement Records style from that era. For me this definitely had more of a techno influence. Hence jungle techno. Personally I wouldn't even use the jungle prefix. Opposed to pure breakbeat hardcore or pure jungle. With a dark edge. Definitely my preferred side to uk hardcore. Very similar to Tango's other tracks like "Time Bomb", Recoil, Intrigue, Further intrigue etc techy edged, with futuristic synth elements, crunching beats, dark sub bass and thumping kick drums. Some of their tracks even use acid elements. Anyway, back from the detour.. Badass tune anyhow and my preferred track on this classic 12".
Sleep tight tango. J man couldn't believe it man when I heard. I can still see you busting funky dance moves in the kitchens when we were just teenagers. Hope your raving up there brother. See you in the next life for a dance off pal.
RIP Tango , such shocking news , only just discovered his passing on your page. I have this brilliant double side on vinyl, huge tune back then and still playing it over 25 years later says it all.
Me as a 19 yr old want a timeline portraying the evolution house. Cuz i have a playlist with 'random' selected house tracks that turned around to be 80% from 1992, wich amazed me because its style really speaks to me. Songs like the 'crimal minds - oldskool soldier' and 'searching for my rizla - ratpack'.
I'm 54 and lived through acid house and the rave scene best years. Even back then, Ratpack were classed as the cheesiest shyte, and proper ravers wouldn't waste their time listening to that crap. There are so many good tunes, there is really no need, and no excuse, to listen to cheese.
This is proper hardcore. deep rugged baselines and beats only for those that know! none of the classic happy same old same old shit.........Listening to this tune for the first time ever back then was buzzing...........still is!
Yeah me too always thought this was tales from the darkside! One of my favourites always remember this from the Roller Express the system in there made this tune immense.

Banging tune ...everyone at Menace Maidehead lost their minds when Ratty played this in 92 ❤
Nice1 @Adrian. Not sure if we went to see Ratty, but I remember Dr S Gachet playing there when the snowballs were in town ! 😮

The music didn’t go shit you just weren’t looking in the right place
I’d rate tango alongside Liam howlett tbh
