A beautiful, sublime piece of old skool mellow dnb. 47 years young and I still listen and play this music everyday. Peace and love to all my original jungle lovers.
No, it's how some of these tunes were pressed back then. Depended on the machine and plates being used, sadly a lot of European presses were thinner and at 45. This one's a 45, check for yourself on discogs. That influences the sound. They were also engineered to be played on 5k rigs, your pc is not a 5k rig. If it was really like that there'd be crackle, wear some records out yourself and find out.

ha! :) reminds me of one new year do where i suddenly felt inspired to go round the whole club giving all the women a happy New Year hug, then told the barmaid that i felt she was the most beautiful woman i had ever seen and she gave me a free pint and a huge smile i was so spangled i forgot to actually follow up on the bar maid being so happy that i felt that way! new (teenager who found the genre by chance, been listening for a year or two now) to liquid/jungle but yeah WOW the new stuff just doesn't have that JUICY sub bass. and that dry, dark, delicious beat

I'll never understand how you music elitist folks are so quick to generalize entire eras of music. There've been great examples from every time period, and the 2020's are no exception! If you take time to peer deeper than just what charts regularly, you'll find an abundance of up-and-coming artists who create unique and interesting sounds, but aren't necessarily marketable enough for the mainstream. I know we all have a rose tinted view of musical genres and eras we enjoyed in the past, but let's not use that enjoyment as a cudgel to beat down newer music as a whole.
This might be my no.1 tune of all time. I remember getting the vinyl by chance and couldnt believe it. I thought I was getting Deep Deadly Subs - classic tune - and got one even better!
@@nickfisher8028 Love those guys. Ash Attack, Profile, Ray Keith and Nicky Blckmrkt!! It was the best record shop in London!! Miss that place!!! It's not the same anymore. Record shops and pirate radio were a big part of Jungle rave culture.

On a decent, well tuned system, I've been at nights when that bass feels like it's massaging your intestines. I don't believe in the 'brown note' these days but back then tunes like this used to make me wonder if it was possible. When people who developed and built systems were pretty much wizards who guarded what they'd learned very carefully. Long before the www when knowledge wasn't as easily accessible.
is it werid to describe this tune as 'poignant'? The synth pads are phenomenal. The breaks are subtle and well executed. Not heard this track before bur already I need it!
I hope everyone is listening on a half decent system with a subwoofer. Without a sub you’re not hearing the lower frequencies and therefore haven’t heard the music properly or in full. ☮️ ❤️ ☯️ ☢️

It was called intelligent drum n bass back then. The split was between this style and ragga / jump up in 94
