It's not just you - Feel My Rhythm makes me bawl. Watching it live in concert this summer made me SOB. It maybe because the whole song beautifully samples Bach's Air On a G String and something about the grand classical composition? It's just very epic and the music and vocals swell at the right points that makes you feel emotional!

For me, Psycho isn't about a toxic relationship but rather a real, actual one. Couples fight, they get mad at each other but then patch things up at the end of the day. Just because they have their disagreements doesn't mean it's toxic. There's no perfect relationship. To outsiders, it may seem, as the song says, "weird" but the narrator of the song is very positive-that no matter the ups and downs of their love, they "will be okay".
The members are Wendy (the high note goddess) who together with Seulgi (the one you said had a strong face and nice tone) are part of GOT the beat. The main rapper is Irene, she's the original visual (she's considered one of top visuals of Korea, so it's a whole thing) and yeah girl can sing the hell out of it, also she's very a tsundere queen.. she comes of as cold but she's really kind and warm inside, specially in her relationship with Yeri, who she almost raised lol (Yeri was in elementary school when she starded training, so Irene would prepare her clothes and food so she could attend school). All of them can sing very exceptionally, tho they have very distinct tones and ranges.. also they do a lot of complex and very knit harmonies that can sound like unísson at first but it's quite amazing. The last members, you said look joyful are the groups youngest, Joy (the who with super bright voice and a bit flirty) and Yeri, the secone rapper, with a very bright tone, she's the maknae I mentioned before (she is actually 8 years younger than Irene, so in Ice Cream Cake - her debut song - she was really a baby at 15). Red Velvet just released their Killing Voice and it is OUT OF THIS WORLD. You should definitely check it out to get to know a bit more of the flawless Discography and getting blew away by their vocals.

don’t worry about the red vs velvet too much once you hear more songs you’ll definitely get the hang of it but in general they combine to two concepts becuase they’re just so freaking talentsed and able to do it seamlessly. but the divide is with both sound and concepts red tends to be pop and bright and experimental. red flavor and ice cream cake being the best examples here. velvet tends to be their more mature and darker vibes. but it doesn’t mean it has to be dark it’s just a more mellowed out sound to some songs or more r&b. it’s mainly where they’re focusing even more heavily on vocals. psycho being the example here. and then chill kill and feel my rhythm being examples of the combination
Those couple simple bars in Psycho are about as rappy as Red Velvet gets. It's not their strength but the industry demands it for some reason. Regardless, they always have fun with it and it's a good time. But vocals and harmonies are where they shine

I actually think Psycho and Chill Kill are thematically similar if they're interpreted as group members talking about their internal relationship (in storyline, ofc, lol). Psycho is inspired by Black Swan, so, it's about mutual sabotage (actually much akin to Russian Roulette), whereas in Chill Kill, they're torn apart by their abusive father figure who's killed off camera, so to speak. But, in both videos, they find serenity in unison by the end, by "not thinking about tomorrow" and saying "hey, now, we'll be OK". Also, interesting story behind Feel My Rhythm, it's inspired by Dutch painter, Hieronymous Bosch's, painting "The Garden of Earthly Delights", in which he portrays the suffering of sinners in Hell. The sin punished by those birds which are ubiquitous in the video is lust and the way people are punished for the sin of lust in his painting is... Too gruesome, but comedic for me to explain, tbh, anyone interested, look up the explanations online, lol. So, FMR was a standalone storyline about unbridled lust leading to Hell. A... Fascinating concept for a K-pop group when one really thinks about it. Thanks so much for reacting to RV!

FYI: Red Velvet debut in 2014 as 4 members and Yeri join them in 2015 in their ice cream cake comeback. when they were 4, irene and joy were the rappers hence joy is labeled as the lead rapper, but when yeri join it's mostly her and irene rapping and joy has been getting more vocal lines but really all of them can sing it's just the usual kpop thing with needing a main, lead, and sub vocals and rappers.
For me, Psycho isn't about a toxic relationship but rather a real, actual one. Couples fight, they get mad at each other but then patch things up at the end of the day. Just because they have their disagreements doesn't mean it's toxic. There's no perfect relationship. To outsiders, it may seem, as the song says, "weird" but the narrator of the song is very positive-that no matter the ups and downs of their love, they "will be okay".
The members are Wendy (the high note goddess) who together with Seulgi (the one you said had a strong face and nice tone) are part of GOT the beat. The main rapper is Irene, she's the original visual (she's considered one of top visuals of Korea, so it's a whole thing) and yeah girl can sing the hell out of it, also she's very a tsundere queen.. she comes of as cold but she's really kind and warm inside, specially in her relationship with Yeri, who she almost raised lol (Yeri was in elementary school when she starded training, so Irene would prepare her clothes and food so she could attend school). All of them can sing very exceptionally, tho they have very distinct tones and ranges.. also they do a lot of complex and very knit harmonies that can sound like unísson at first but it's quite amazing. The last members, you said look joyful are the groups youngest, Joy (the who with super bright voice and a bit flirty) and Yeri, the secone rapper, with a very bright tone, she's the maknae I mentioned before (she is actually 8 years younger than Irene, so in Ice Cream Cake - her debut song - she was really a baby at 15).
Red Velvet just released their Killing Voice and it is OUT OF THIS WORLD. You should definitely check it out to get to know a bit more of the flawless Discography and getting blew away by their vocals.

once you hear more songs you’ll definitely get the hang of it but in general they combine to two concepts becuase they’re just so freaking talentsed and able to do it seamlessly.
but the divide is with both sound and concepts
red tends to be pop and bright and experimental. red flavor and ice cream cake being the best examples here.
velvet tends to be their more mature and darker vibes. but it doesn’t mean it has to be dark it’s just a more mellowed out sound to some songs or more r&b. it’s mainly where they’re focusing even more heavily on vocals. psycho being the example here.

I actually think Psycho and Chill Kill are thematically similar if they're interpreted as group members talking about their internal relationship (in storyline, ofc, lol). Psycho is inspired by Black Swan, so, it's about mutual sabotage (actually much akin to Russian Roulette), whereas in Chill Kill, they're torn apart by their abusive father figure who's killed off camera, so to speak. But, in both videos, they find serenity in unison by the end, by "not thinking about tomorrow" and saying "hey, now, we'll be OK". Also, interesting story behind Feel My Rhythm, it's inspired by Dutch painter, Hieronymous Bosch's, painting "The Garden of Earthly Delights", in which he portrays the suffering of sinners in Hell. The sin punished by those birds which are ubiquitous in the video is lust and the way people are punished for the sin of lust in his painting is... Too gruesome, but comedic for me to explain, tbh, anyone interested, look up the explanations online, lol. So, FMR was a standalone storyline about unbridled lust leading to Hell. A... Fascinating concept for a K-pop group when one really thinks about it. Thanks so much for reacting to RV!
