All the girls are all rounders. Giselle and Karina have beautiful vocals and both NingNing and Winter can rap. Got to say Giselle overall is an amazing rapper but her vocal isn't that much noticed..Sure Karina deserves the position as lead vocalist but in that group having Winter as the lead vocalist it is obviously fair. And Winters rap has improved and is near Karinas level of rap. Haven't heard NingNing rap that much but she for sure is more of melodic rapper type of person and it suits her. æspa just is AMAZING for having all rounder maybe the only down part is Giselles dancing(she is my bias) which is slowly improving. I think Giselles dancing in Illusion suits her so much. She may have made mistakes many times but for æspa is already more known because of other things. SME in general is more known for vocals and not that crazily on dance(with ggs).

She has a thing for vocalists' voices. Ningning is naturally gifted, but Winter was trained by one of the greatest, also an SM composer and producer, director Yoo Young Jin. Many praise her, saying she was born from his voice (BoA said it, in the backstage for GOT: The beat). But don't sleep on the rap line, expecially Giselle. "Girls" seems very similar to "Step Back", but in general I think that they are the killer group of the 4th gen. The others are normal, they are the exception. In the future, perhaps, we'll see the rise of others like Billlie from SM subsidiary, Mystic Story.
Billlie is also other group I like there storyline and Music is also very unique

I like explaining their lore to reactors who may be confused, but, you, I think, could pick up the whole story by simply watching the instructive videos, so, I won't spoil anything, just say that it's all explained through SMCU 1 and 2, KWANGYA is a place inhabited by "aes", their counterparts formed from data from their social media, FLAT is a space of existence between KWANGYA and the REAL WORLD, inhabited by naevis, who is aespa's guide and guardian, SYNK is their ability to connect to their aes, SYNK OUT is a term for a break in the connection caused by the BLACK MAMBA, REKALL is a term for their time spent with their aes. Loved your reaction and I remember watching Next Level the first time and going like WHAT WAS THAT?! and feeling super confused whether I liked it or not and now it's probably my favorite song of them and it's definitely the most popular in Korea. I'm not into a lot of the 4th generation kpop groups. Most I listen to I just don't like the songs but AESPA is so different and the girls are so talented that how can you not love them?

Karina is the one you noticed a lot, she is my bias! And yes she is an all rounder who is the leader, main dancer, lead rapper, vocalist, center & face of the group. Karina embodies the concept of aespa, she is well known to be gorgeous and looks more unreal than her ae/AI lol.

If you wanna get more familiar with their individual abilities I recommend their pre debut solo teasers called SYNK. They're a little bit longer than minute.
Karina (the girl you really liked and said she looks unreal) did a dance break as a main dancer.
Giselle (the one who also raps and had multiple versions of her in one scene of Savage) did rap verse as introduction to Black mamba and she wrote it on 3 languages she knows as a main rapper.
Ning Ning (the one with really strong red hair in Next level and vocals you liked) did English cover of Japanese song run as a main vocalist.
Winter (the one with blonde hair in Girls and the one with dark bob in Savage who is "locked up in the glass") showcased her visuals as a main visual but still as you can tell she's a good vocalist and dancer.
All of the girls sing really well, you just need to dive deeper into their discography. And I'm sorry if I'm commenting too much but I'm happy when I see people willing to give chance to Aespa and a bit unusual concept.

loved this reaction your one of the only ppl that actually somewhat understand their concept and seem interested in the storyline. i highly recommend their other mvs that don’t go along with this storyline also because like you said they don’t always want to sing about black mamba and kwangya and everything. they have forever which was a single released after black mamba, dreams come true which was a remake of the first gen group ses song and is one of my favorites, and life’s too short (english ver.) which is a bside on their new album. these are all amazing and show how well they can do singing about other concepts. the members are karina: leader, main dancer, lead rapper, sub vocalist, center, and fotg; giselle: main rapper, sub vocalist; winter: lead vocalist, lead dancer, visual; and ningning: main vocalist, maknae (my ult bias lol) aside from their music, they have 2 episodes black mamba and next level that explains their storyline really well and are super interesting that i would recommend checking out. also their coachella vlogs are super fun to watch to get a feel for their personalities and interactions with each other as a group. anyways this was a lot of information but i hope it’s helpful!❤
forgot to mention, i highly recommend their sync videos. each member had a video released predebut to showcase and introduce each member and their “specialty”. karinas dance, giselle’s rap, winters visuals, and ningnings vocals. they are so good! giselles is my favorite her rap is amazing she wrote it herself in three different languages: korean, english, and japanese
You should definitely check out their SMCU episodes they have 2 so far that explain their lore. I don’t think they will run out of ideas (or feel like their voice is stifled) because their ae’s are a representation of themselves in the media. Whatever controversy or rumors surround Aespa can be written into their songs & be voiced by their ae counterparts. It’s kindof genius.

Okay so this is the first video i watch from your channel and was a bit annoyed by the frequent replays and talking in between at first.....but then i found out you're actually amazing at decoding everything! Like damn you got almost everything right and raised some very interesting questions I've never thought about as someone who followed aespa since their debut....good job! You should react to aespa's SMCU episode 1 and 2 for more clarity about aespa's lore as well as for a cinematic experience because those episodes are great.
A ballad of aespa? Of course yes. I recommend the song ''Forever'' by aespa. Chronologically it's the second song they released after ''Black Mamba'''.
Yay Karina being appreciated outside of her looks. She's the leader of the group, rumored as SM's 'secret weapon'. But sometimes all the attention she gets leads to many people disliking her (even tho its more of the company's fault) and even go so far as to create controversies and false rumors about her. She looks unreal and incredibly stunning (even in random photo shots) but she's equally great in terms of dancing and singing. Her nasally voice gives a pretty nice flare to her rapping, and her lower register and vocal texture is just so good when she sings, ethereal even. I recommend checking their 'Dreams Come True' remake as it really highlights Karina's and even Giselle's vocals.
They each have different approach to dancing and Karina's focus is often doing powerful moves, which is a great contrast when doing choreo with powerful and slow parts mixed together. If looking carefully Winter usually has very sharp and precise movements, Ning2 with more wavy/sexy kinda attitude and so on.

Everything about this react is wonderful and is the best I've seen about aespa, the way you really try to understand the story was the apex.🙌🏾 And I'm even happier to see someone talking about how talent Karina is, and not just how she looks. Their lore is so good and strong, I highly recommend you their smcu episodes, the production is insane. They are all so talented, they all can sing, rap, dance! There is a strong story line, mostly explained in their smcu episodes and even in their bsides. The members have individual powers that are being portrayed in their song "aenergy". For instance winter is armamenter, ningning Ed hacker, Karina rocket puncher and Giselle is a language genius. That's why winter is using swords and guns while Karina push everything even the bullets. "illusion" the dance practice you have watched is most likely black mamba pov, and how them is luring the members into an illusion. You see the actual "illusion quest" with the members's hardships in SMCU EP2. Basically their songs are all tied together and their smcu episodes explain this link and go deeper in the story. Their are amazing! watching them is like watching a mini series, so cool.

you need watch watch smcu ep 1 and 2. its a must if you want to understand their mv storyline. ep 1 takes place after black mamba mv, before next level. ep 2 takes place after savage mv, before girls. also the aes are not supposed to look anything like the girls because they are not the girls themselves at all. the aes are connected to each member but are their own separate person.

Here is my attempt to try and explain everything that is happening in aespas storyline.
As with all the groups under SM Entertainment, their storylines and concepts are all part of SM's Universe, including aespa's storyline. aespa's story, so far, primarily connects to EXO's and SuperM's storylines. I think SM has set it up so that at least all of their third generation groups -- and now even fourth gen. groups, with the introduction of aespa -- have storylines that connect, link together and intertwine. Each group has their own individual storyline and concept, but when you put them all together there are threads of connections between the groups.
To help you start to understand aespa better as a group and to explain a little more about what is happening in their MVs, if you haven't already, you should watch aespa's "aespa 'ep1. Black Mamba' - SM Culture Universe" video that was released right before their MV for "Next Level" was released and their "aespa 'ep. 2 Next Level -- SM Culture Universe" video that was just released before their "Girls" MV. It's the first and second episodes of aespa's drama and it explains in more detail about aespa's storyline.
As with everything that SM does, aespa is much more than just a singing group. They have a whole story that is more like a movie or an epic novel and all their MVs and everything they do is connected.
As you can see, aespa is a four member girl group whose concept revolves around the fact that their name means "avatar experience" and each of the girls has an avatar character -- as you see with their animated characters and scenes -- so they also are superhero-like beings, just like EXO and the members of SuperM.
Their avatars aren't exactly "virtual members," but they are virtual characters that represent each of the members in the digital realm. As part of aespa's concept, it is thought that anyone who does anything online has a virtual character that lives online that represents them -- everytime we do anything online we leave a piece of digital DNA which is what is used to create our digital selves or avatar. If you watch the video I suggested above, this will all become more clear and aespa's concept should make more sense.
And just like EXO, the members of aespa all have their own powers and symbols that represent them:
💓Karina (Yoo JiMin) is the leader of the group, she is a main dancer and lead rapper: her symbol is a heart and her spirit animal is a whale. She is Korean.
🌕Giselle (Uchinaga Aeri) is the main rapper and a vocalist: her symbol is the moon and her spirit animal is a unicorn. She is Japanese.
⭐Winter (Kim MinJeong) is a lead dancer, lead vocalist and the visual of the group: her symbol is a star and her spirit animal is a Siberian Husky dog. She is Korean
🦋NingNing (Níng Yìzhuo) is the maknae and the main vocalist: her symbol is a butterfly and her spirit animal is a tiger. She is Chinese.
In order to understand aespa's storyline, you really have to pay attention to the lyrics of their songs, because the lyrics help to explain aespa's concept and what is happening in their MVs.
The Black Mamba (represented by the snake) they refer to in their songs is a dark force that stops them from connecting to their avatars. As the "Black Mamba" lyrics say, they "synk out," etc. and you see all the glitches happening. The aespa members are trying to overcome the Black Mamba and connect with their avatars again.
The way I see it is, there are two dimensions: aespa in the real world and their avatars (Kwangya) world. Aespa are connected to their avatars and everything the aespa members do in real life gives power to their avatars.
However, because of the Black Mamba's temptation, aespa and their avatars cannot connect through the SYNK app anymore, so their avatars become lost. In "Black Mamba" you see Ningning as she is searching through the Kwangya world on her computer trying to find their avatars. Ningning and the other members are lured into the Kwangya realm by the Black Mamba. But there seems to be some sort of crossover between realms as well. For example, in the train scene in "Black Mamba", aespa in the real world is also being overcome by the Black Mamba. Their world seems to be in ruins or being destroyed. In the last scene of "Black Mamba", the avatars seem to be drawn into aespa's real world and I think this is really the start of aespa's whole story. This is where they establish the fact that aspea, from now on, probably, will be spending a majority of their storyline fighting the Black Mamba alongside their avatars.
I also see the train scene in "Black Mamba" as possibly being connected to the train scenes in SM's Universe storyline. I think that the train theme is somehow connected to SuperM's/EXO's storyline, however, I am not sure how yet. All I know is that, we see SuperM in a subway train in their "100" MV, we see SHINee in an old train station in their recent comeback with their "Don't Call Me" MV and Baekhyun from EXO is on an old train in his most recent solo "Bambi" MV. We even see Kai on train tracks in his "Film: Kai" solo debut teaser video during his "Amnesia" section of the video and people on a subway train platform as it transitions to his song "Mmmh." And before that we saw Key from SHINee in a subway train in his solo debut song "One of Those Nights." And if we go back even further, you see EXO on train tracks in their "Love Me Right" MV and EXO-CBX (which Baekhyun is also a member of) on train tracks in their "Horololo" MV, etc. From what I know about how SM is constantly designing the story to connect between the groups, I am pretty sure this means that they are all connected.
The MV for "Next Level" tells aespa's backstory and explains a lot of what we saw happening in their "Black Mamba," MV. I think in "Next Level" aespa is on a mission to try and stop the Black Mamba hacker and find their avatars in order to re-establish a connection.
Fun fact: The song intentionally switches up in "Next Level" at that specific moment because, if you pay attention to the lyrics, it says "Naevis calling" which is referring to the fact that their avatars are summoning them to their Kwangya realm, so they teleport to the virtual realm (where everything is different) and then when the beat switches back to "Next Level" they are shown going back to the real world. Everything SM does, even the most minute detail, such as the structure of the song is done for a very specific reason.
However, this is far from the first time SM has ever done mashups and had songs where it switches up the beat to a completely different song in the middle of the song. It started with songs like Girls' Generations "I Got A Boy," and they have done it with SHINee's "Sherlock (Clue & Note)", F(X) and Red Velvet and NCT/WayV songs, and even SuperM's song "One (Monster & Infinity)." It's a very signature SM style.
The 5th animated character you see in "Savage" is Naevis who is the creator and designer of the Kwangya world -- kind of like the site administrator -- so that is why you see aespa say, "MY naevis we love you" several times in the "Savage" lyrics, because they are thanking naevis for looking out for them, protecting them and doing all they can to prevent and eliminate the Black Mamba hacker. Which is why in the lyrics of "Next Level" they say, " MY Naevis ... where you lead we follow," etc., because they trust Naevis to protect them from the Black Mamba and protect the virtual word, etc. (MY is the name of aespa's fans.)
I think in "Savage" aespa is under the Black Mamba hacker's control and they are gearing up to fight the Black Mamba in order to gain back control and to connect with their avatars once again.
Often, when characters within SM MVs have blue eyes or different eye colors, like you see Karina's eyes in "Savage," this usually is an indication that that person isn't themselves, i.e. they aren't who we think they are. It is thought to be used to show that they are a clone or alter ego, etc., under the control of an evil force.
I think the eye you see in "Savage" has something to do with the Black Mamba because it looks like a serpent's eye. I think it might be what the Black Mamba hacker uses to spy on everything and to keep in control, which is why Winter shoots the eye in order to destroy it. And I also think it's connected to the eye we see in other SM MVs, such as EXO's Chinese member, Lay's solo "Namanana" MV and EXO Kai's "Mmmh" MV, and maybe even the eye symbol and closeup of the dragon's eye in Lay's solo "Lit" MV. The eyes all look slightly different, but I think they are supposed to be a symbol that connects something within the larger storyline of SM's SM Culture Universe. (Maybe a metaphor for how "big brother" government is always watching us, and is always in control behind the scenes, etc.)

You see the Black Mamba monitoring the girls' movements on security cameras as aespa searches the Black Mamba's hideout. And you also see Naevis watching everything happening from I think Kwaga where she said in ep. 2 she would be watching them and sending assistance when she could, etc.
At one point you see a jump drive with the word aespa on it and I think this is one of the girls finding Black Mamba's command center and downloading a virus or program to stop the Black Mamba from being able to control things. And, although, at the end it looks as if maybe the Black Mamba has been defeated and disappears, I have a feeling that aespa has only managed to put up a roadblock and temporarily stop the Black Mamba, but once the Black Mamba regroups and figures out how to get around whatever aespa did, the hacker will be back. Or maybe that was just the Black Mamba running away, etc.
aespa couldn't have defeated the Black Mamba so quickly, they've only been at it for 2 years, and I wouldn't think, if we take into consideration SM's history, that the company would be ready to close this chapter of the storyline just yet. Plus, as with most superhero and fantasy type movies and stories, there is always a twist where when you think the villain has been defeated, something happens and they figure out a way to reappear or they take a new form, etc.

As I think you know, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from Planet Exo who have been sent to Earth on a mission to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force, while also trying to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, which are believed to be caused by the Red Force. The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda -- corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world, such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc.
Some theories even believe that Red Velvet is connected to EXO's storyline. Some think that Red Velvet, EXO's sister group, could be the Red Force.
And as you also may know, SuperM is the Kpop industry's very first supergroup which debuted in October 2019. Their concept and storyline is centered around the fact that they are Avenger-like superheros, so SuperM is the group that pretty much connects everything together. As part of EXO's story, Baekhyun and Kai have recruited members from SM Entertainment's other male Kpop groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT and Ten and Lucas from WayV -- and formed SuperM, to help them battle the Red Force.

So, I think part of EXO's mission is they are on a quest to find aespa in order to reveal where the tree was hidden.
aespa was first introduced to the world in a teaser at the end of SuperM's "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV in 2020 -- about a week or so before aespa's debut. In the last scene of the "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV, we see Taemin with an LG phone and on the phone screen there is a symbol that appears. At the time, when that MV was released, we had no idea what that meant. However, soon after that, we discovered that the symbol you see on Taemin's phone -- ae -- is the logo/symbol for aespa. So, on top of being a teaser for aespa's debut, I think by making aespa a part of SuperM's MV, this was SM's way of establishing aespa's connection to SuperM's/EXO's storyline.
Will aespa eventually join forces with EXO to defeat evil or will the Black Mamba gain control and cause aespa to team up with (Red Velvet?) and become members of the Red Force? We will just have to wait to see how SM connects the dots and draws the storylines together. But I have a feeling that, eventually, aespa's story will connect to SuperM's story, and, along the way, also EXO, NCT and Red Velvet's storyline, and maybe Taemin's solo work, and possibly even SHINee. (Even though SHINee is part of the second generation in Kpop, the members are the same age as third generation group members, so they sort of bridge that gap between second and third generation.)

It is great that you picked on, not only the Black Mamba storyline, but how committed to it they are when it comes to producing. You are correct: they are creating a new world and within that world there is a story. To my knowledge, that world is Kwangya and I interpret it as SM Nirvana where it is the place are artists and Idols want to be. SM the company has actually come out and say that they are using Aespa as way to spearhead their "Kwangya Campaign" where they plan to have every SM artist that came before Aespa and after in the Kwangya storyline.
