  • Hi Everyone! You're at home on the tools with James.
    Today I'm reviewing the IDECH power rotary scissors using the Ryobi 36V line trimmer as the skin. In this video you will see how I modded a Ryobi line trimmer to suit the Idech power scissor attachment and a demo of the scissors in use.

    IDECH power rotary scissors available at www.oldtimeparts.com.au $430
    Ryobi line trimmer available at www.bunnings.com.au $349 with the 2AH battery
    Thanks for watching

    Really enjoyed this video. Thanks. I just moved into a house where the gardens will need edging and iv been looking into this. Loved the fact you covered the ryobi attachment as well. How are you getting on. Are you still using it with the ryobi?

      Glad you enjoyed the vid, yep still using this same set up at least once a week, just keep the grease up to it maybe every 6 weeks, still cuts perfect 👌

    Thank you! Currently have a 2 stroke expand it range with 3 attachments and was researching between getting the 36v expand it range vs buying individual tools (due to the motor being direct drive vs cable driven). You answered my question!

    Great video mate here from the uk👍 just wanna check as I’m looking to purchase one of these rotary scissors… the ryobi You’re you are using, Which model is that Ryobi? Is it a strimmer only model? Or is it a multitool? Many thanks

    • @Homeonthetools
      @Homeonthetools  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey mate, it is the “expand it” range line trimmer, so multi tool. Important that you get a trimmer with a metal gear box that is serviceable to do the conversion, stay away from the fixed head line trimmer (gearbox is plastic and a sealed unit) and the 18v stuff you want 36v minimum and you will be right. The scissors are amazing you’ll love them

    Hey mate thanks for the video, do you know how you go about purchasing the head attachment ? Do you have to order from Japan or is there a distributor in Australia ? I’m located in western Sydney nsw. I have the 18volt range but I’m going to purchase the 36V edger like yourself to run the rotary scissors.

    Has anyone in the UK done this setup? it seems the Ryobi 36V Line Trimmer we can get in the UK does not look like the head can be changed... thanks

      Hey mate, the uk brush cutter looks to have the gearbox head, check one out in store RBC36X26BG2

      @@Homeonthetools thanks. Yep been pretty disspointed with the UK options. I guess with the lack of sunshine these companies may believe that we don't care about our lawns here in the UK!

      @spacemanwho grab an Aussie one on Amazon with free international delivery if you can find it, I buy quite a bit of stuff from the UK, I’m sure there are plenty of lawnies over your way

    One more quick question please! I’m
    Also considering the Worx WG185 Strimmer-uk model do you think this will be compatible?

    • @Homeonthetools
      @Homeonthetools  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Power wise it would be ideal, the Idech scissors come with half a dozen different gears for different brands of trimmers but im unfamiliar with Worx sorry

    I would assume that lots of edging use will dull the blades quickly right? How easy is it to keep the blades sharpened?

    • @Homeonthetools
      @Homeonthetools  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have used the rotary tool for 12 months now and the blade are a little dull, I don’t always use it for edging, usually just the areas I can’t get my cylinder mower on, my local sword smith said he can sharpen them cheap, they are easy to remove with a circlip. I always keep the tool greased as well, probably sharpen this season

    was the 18v machine you tried the 18v HP model or the standard 18v model?

    • @Homeonthetools
      @Homeonthetools  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate, it was the standard 18v machine, I still don’t reckon the 18v HP will be enough
