    Had no idea there was a larger blade! Its on my list to order now. On a side note, I always mow first. That way when I place my blade on the grass it will trim at the level that I mowed at.

    I use the ego stick edger. Game changer especially with my miles of sidewalk. I do want of of those power scissors eventually though.

    Great video. You may have mentioned , how durable (do the blades dull out quickly)?

  • @lew708
    @lew708 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great to see you talk about the other blade geared more toward edging. No one has talked about that…There is also a smaller blade available that’s smaller than the standard blade that’s geared towards finer grass or getting a finer cut.

    • @LawnInsider
      @LawnInsider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Didn’t know about the smaller blade! Will have to check it out.

    Great video! Would love to see you try and hold the rotary scissors sideways. So much more comfortable, so much faster. Basically the same direction but the stick facing your right at about 45 degrees.

    I thouhht that was how one keeps it steady! Letting the housing roll on the cement keeps it steady right? Otherwise you have to free hand it and expect it to ve straight?

    • @LawnInsider
      @LawnInsider  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really once you put the blade between the sidewalk and the grass, it guides itself. I definitely prefer my larger blade now. No wear and tear on the housing at all.

    I have that same Ryobi trimmer with this rotary scissors. after 20 minutes, the trimmer overheats. I may switch to Ego trimmer.

    • @LawnInsider

      I’ve burnt up one without the brushless motor 3 seasons ago. I’ve now had this one 3 seasons with no issues whatsoever. I’m also no big Ryobi homer lol I just happened to already have a lot of the 40V system when I got into lawncare.

      @@LawnInsider I greased my rotary scissors. I replaced with the larger blades. i decided to just start using the 6.0 amp battery. My trimmer didn't overheat the entire time I used it. Not sure which thing I did that solved the problem, but problem solved.

    How is it around chain link fence?

    • @LawnInsider
      @LawnInsider  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure! Seems to me like that might be an application where a string trimmer might be better. But I know that chain link isn’t easy on the string.

    Is there a trick to get a tight fit from the 2 screw? I put adapter in and have problem getting a tight fit with both those screw all the way tightened. Yes I did put the insert sleeve in also. Mine is a Eco trimmer. Yes straight rod too.

  • @Alejandro_C62
    @Alejandro_C62 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    With your scalp, do you tend to irrigate more often? I usually do but with restrictions in place have you seen it recover well with less water? I let the mowing get away from me and hard scalped yesterday. Def fed it, threw down some Carbon and Hydretein.

    • @LawnInsider

  • @PNWlawnguy1973
    @PNWlawnguy1973 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How much battery life do you get using this attachment?

    • @LawnInsider
      @LawnInsider  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a 5ah battery. I never have to change my battery whenever I’m working on my own lawn. I would think you’re good with a lawn up to 5K sq ft. Maybe even bigger if you don’t have to do the entire perimeter.

    Will this unit attach to the EGO 56V string trimmer?

    • @LawnInsider
      @LawnInsider  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't believe so, due to that automatic feed button at the bottom of the Ego shaft.

  • @juswalte
    @juswalte ปีที่แล้ว

    I also have this on my Ryobi HP 40v. Has the insert collar of the rotary ever backed out (and slide up the Ryobi internal shaft) that the scissors stop working? I've only used it 4 times but it happened to mine after the second use. It's like it needs a sleeve collar to go over the internal shaft that will keep the insert from backing out.

    • @LawnInsider
      @LawnInsider  ปีที่แล้ว

      No sir, luckily I haven’t experienced that. In fact, I rarely ever use my string trimmer at this point. Pretty much leave this shaft on at all times.
