I’ve been running in the Craft ProEndurance. Love the bounce in their PX Foam and I have 500 miles on them so far. The new Pure Trail was a shoe I was interested in from them.
The Pro/Endurance 2 has a different type of foam that is more bouncy and fun to run in. That's actually the foam that I wish they put in the Pure Trail.
I previously had Craft CTM Carbon Trail shoes in a UK 9 - I just couldn’t get on with them, the foam was too stiff and the felt pretty dead despite the carbon plate. Grip wasn’t great either even though they have Vibram mega-grip outsoles, but I put this down to the lack of squish, due to the stiff foam. I only managed 40miles in them, before I chose to give them to a friend. They have very much enjoyed them though, so it may be a personal feel thing.
Could be a personal feeling thing, type of running, trail conditions, etc. but like you, I found the foam to be a tad too stiff. I wish they used the same foam as in the Endurance 2/Pro. I think that would have felt amazing on the trails! Thanks for watching the video!
Might be a long shot, but would you be willing to recommend your top 1-2 shoes for a first 50K, and potentially a first 50-miler, on rock and sand, for someone who needs a wider toebox? Currently wearing Caldera 7s, but as I believe you mentioned back in your review, it's just a very boring shoe.
I did find the Caldera 7s to be boring, at least for me. I'd recommend the Topo MTN Racer 3, La Sportiva Prodigio, or the VJ MAXx2 (each of these gets possessively more racier).
