I grew some “lemon skunk” in 1998 that was supposed to be from Cali, it was brought back by some deadhead friends of mine. It hermed on me but I remember loving the bud. I wish I had pictures. Dark green broad leaves with average height. I had them under a 1000 watt hps in a closet beneath the next door apartment stair well. Sketchy as hell back then here in Virginia. 😂 I learned that grow to use an outdoor timer because I melted the indoor one. I wish I had documented all of my grows but pictures were a no no back then. My last garden unfortunately was in 2008, I grew bag seed and I think some Marc Emery stuff… I know my buddy ordered them for me from Canada… anyway, I love the show guys, it’s really helping me put together a time line of my long history with the plant and distinguishing different strains I may have run across. I’m a huge Chem fan but I probably have never had a perfect example. I definitely like power but hearing you (Matt) talk about blueberry makes me want to try it for my own racing mind. In a previous episode you stated that the giesel cut was well known to have hlvd, this means that a percentage of these seeds are capable of passing the viroid in the progeny. That would be a concern of mine before sowing any of the seeds.
No no, I said i was told it was tired when it was given to me. It doesn’t have HLVD. It’s been tested. Now, you’re also quoting somethin that’s been tested in hops. Come correct or not at all

As for the seeds passing it on, I don’t believe enough testing has been done with hlvd to clarify. I wasn’t quoting the hops industry, one could argue that it’s possible that cannabis passes it on through seeds as it’s so closely related to hops. You did mention in a previous show that you had known someone who got it through seeds as no cut in the facility tested positive. I can dig that episode up later. I came correct, I was only looking for clarification before I ordered.
Just flipped my Giesel x chem91 and Giesel x bubba kush from csi… after hearing Matt talk about Giesel and I know I love the chem everything I’m super excited to see these girls flower… next to Matt’s creamy punch of course ❤ next run will have the new giesel drop! @@frostyheat22 so far so good. About 6 weeks in. 91Giesel is 50/50 squat little plants and giant stretched monsters. Stacking nicely, will be foxy for sure. The Giesel x bubba is becoming my fave in flower. Nice structure and they stink stink funky skunk! Super excited for the next 4-6 weeks
I got some GM uh oh, By Cannabiotix Brand. It is a good batch. "Forum cookies crossed Chemdawg" i had some a few years ago and found a seed. I never grew before but sprouted it. My son over watered it and killed it. I got some Kush Milk by the same brand and it is real nice too! Would love to try so many old school buds
Have some Super Skunk seeds saved from years ago, assumed they were just white labels (was gifted them), but hope they aren't. Only know the stuff they came from yielded.
@@BreedersSyndicate Update: Most of them smelled like cheese, yielded great, and the one looks like a dead ringer for the catalog pic to me. Put on more resin bc I think we know more about drybacks than they did back in the 90's though. They have the same branchy growth habit, and when I threw some clones outside under a covered area with full airflow they got PM, so basically every positive and negative I know of lines up, as well as some benign markers like the dog tongue leaves. None of them had near as much skunkiness as a Big Bang x Diesel plant I grew which had Skunk and Super Skunk on both sides of its parentage--which is interesting bc you note how that brings it out in the ep. Crossed my favorite to my NL5 male to make "Super Shiva Skunk" lol.
How Matt and NotSo describe the original Sour Diesel not taking to pollen reminds me of a trait that polyploids have. They are breeding the polyploids for outdoor cultivation. So was the original Sour Diesel a polyploid?

( i never heard of it before but was searching sour diesel history) the hosts were trash but they gave a great 2-part interview with quite a bit of details of the story with Klopp and the Ny scene and history of the "original" diesel and Sour Diesel
I can give u a date first time I smelled plant smelled just like a skunk. 1994 a old guy that just kept seeds out of his habitat well I ask could I have some to try grow I had never smoked pot or grown well 14 sprouted 4 of them when only 8” tall smelled just like skunk. When my dad saw seeds before I planted them he said they look like mouse nuts they were bigger than others. Anyways I ask the guy about it he said yea he got skunk weed about a year before. So 1993. I burned plants up over fertilizer. He said skunk cost more. I can’t believe all of the growers let skunk go away. The guy I got the seeds from said he had tried to grow skunk in his basement under lights and it was nearly impossible but had growed 3 before outside. He said everytime he bought skunk it came from Florida motor cycle gang brought it up he said him and his buddy bought 50-100lbs at a time. I don't know much about the Giesel, but I have a Giesel x Birthday Cake from Cannarado he called Socks. Huge swollen calyx/bracts, you are doing a better job describing it. Super long internodal length, lots of stretch, open structure, golf ball to ping pong ball sized, but lumpy flowers. I'm able to leave nodes way down on the plant and they still develop well. Solid, but not solid. It smells like a Northern Italian with BO, so bad you can't stop smelling it. It's a massive producer but grows all over my other plants and flops in every direction. I just got Chem '91 and Sour Diesel from Mass Medical Strains, he said the Sour D was something he got from Skunktek. Not able to run them atm

I've never seen one complaint about his genetics, he's done a ton of collabs, I've never heard a single bad word, most people he's traded with still offer the genetics they traded, he credits them they credit him., And he's stayed in his lane despite the popularity of hype. The only shade he throws is directed at Cookies in general I don't know the guy, but he's accessible enough. I don't think he had much experience before he was thrust into popularity, he literally started breeding on his first run, but he's played it off well IMO
I've still got the only surviving 80's blues clone strain from Sheffield Liversedge uk and I've had it since 2004 , pungent terps unbelievable strongest tasting and smelling clone.
I strictly kept it to myself and only started growing again due to bad health but it's very very hard to contain the pungent smell but has depth in taste , it was well worth keeping it all these years. And I'm the only one to have this clone only strain
That was skunk # 1 and alot of the pure Afghan varieties most that actually have the skunk smell back then . That's its timeline from the 70s to the mid 80s when it became more available do to seed banks ect . In 1990 Neville at The Seed Bank, bred the super skunk from a skunk # 1 male ( which the skunk odor was bred out of the skunk by Sam himself to become the more citrus, grape or cheese type phenotypic expressions which we know today ) and an Afghan T female to bring back the skunk smell and improve the line greatly. And he sure did . Afghan T is also known as maple leaf indica or Ortega by some . So that's what they are talking about is the super skunk that later got bought up by Sensi seeds shortly after . If you get original skunk # 1 it's not at all skunky now and hasn't been in many years unless it's a rare find . That or very old stock . That's why everyone wants the Road kill skunk now , because it has been gone for so long . Super strong, pungent, and offensive smells. Amazing stuff .
