    Sour Diesel is prob my favorite. Growing up and being from NYC/NJ i remember some strains that are now lost, like chocolate thai, northern lights, skunk, haze and sour diesel. Funny how so many claim to still have some of them. The Sour that I used to get back in mid to late 90s was so loud and DIESEL smelling that if you had it, EVERYONE knew and it blew your house out smelling like it. There was absolutely no way of masking the funk coming off it, it wreaked so bad it was like gasoline. Straight DIESEL fuel aroma. Even a small bag of it you knew who had it lol. Man i miss that, and the REAL haze too. That haze had a high that hit reeeal different too.

      I love the old Sativa high , it is another level of consciousness actually.
      The Indica is a body high and glues you to the couch i do not like.
      The Chocolate Thai was two toke limit for novice smokers as it keeps creeping up on you as you smoke and then you go higher and higher scary strong intense high .@@happycamper1486

    ECSD best strain i ever smoked, nothing comes remotely close in my book. I've been trying to find the real sd and have over 50 different varieties and still i cannot find anything remotely close to the original Sour Diesel that was circulating back in the day. I have had the pleasure of trying that real clone and man i have been chasing it down ever since. To this day i still cannot find anyone who still has it. Nothing comes close to the original ecsd hands down the best of the best, those who tried it will agree, it is amazing.

    Damn, I hate that I missed this! Awesome discussion of sage n sour, which is one of my all-time faves. Eight years ago I was busted and did nearly five years in prison. That hurt. But what hurt the most is losing my four different keeper phenos of sage n sour--two of which came from the same pack of seeds. I'm growing it again...8 years later, but so far have not found a pheno that compares to those four. This is a really special strain. And you guys are awesome. I was born in '92 so that puts me at 32 this year. Sour Diesel obviously predates me but my experience with it was around 2008-2009ish +/- a year or so while Iwas in high school. I was getting bud off a kid a year or two younger than me who was connected to some graffiti writers from a pretty notorious crew. They had this connection on what they were calling Sour Diesel that was allegedly being grown in trailer homes out in Apache Junction AZ. AJ area was/is known for cooking meth as there are so many trailer parks. This bud had that bud structure Sour Diesel is known for. Pretty sure it was some type of hydroponically grown bud. It was always so fresh, fragrant, and sticky!! In retrospect and having my personal grow experience now it was a bit tooo freah. The bud would literally stick to the bag!! And It was LOUD!!!! (Pun intended!) For real, like other folks commenting are saying people would know you had it BEFORE you even pulled out your sack or made it known you had one. They had it for about a year and then I got in the game and established my plug based on personal relationships. Wish I had made that connection on the SD myself

    Smoked an eighth of The Dog in Santa Cruz in early 2000's. It was amazing. Reminded me of OG much more than Sour D. It was not similar to the kush that I often smoked in Orlando in the mid-90's. The Florida smoke (I think it was Matt Burger's) was much more overwhelming than the Dog. I felt the Dog was sedative, relaxing, but had a euphoric effect that stayed with me for several hours. The Kush was more like Chem D, one bong rip and destroyed. The sour D that I got from Reserva Privada was not the same as either one. It was like Sam the skunkman skunk and chem were crossed. Very burnt-rubber sour lemon fuel funk.

I'm still searching for it from when I had it 10 years ago and after getting to Cali in the Bay Area and finding out that the "Sour Diesel" here really isn't sour diesel at all it has truly been a really awesome experience to know that I have had that strain and am now also on the hunt for the REAL SOUR D! I have to admit that finding out where this story of terpene chasing has taken me has been so cool just hearing all the stories and connecting all the dots. I'd love to see what everyone is doing and has nowdays as to what they think the real sour diesel is or what's close to it as it was. I definitely feel like it's a story that needs to be made more public and that people should have a piece of media to watch to know the whole story. Great story guys! The high Is all about the overall terpene content which drives the high, as well as other trace cannabinoids combinations. The overall thc % is way overrated in most flowers. High terpene content is a stronger high, plain and simple. Max Montrose with the Terpene Institute has some great info on cannabis.

Each time the bud was different and funkier than anything me or my mom was used to. The taste was always earthy and piney. • @anduin1
      @anduin1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and it really comes down to who claims credit for being an originator and while the stories these guys tell are true, they’re true for them meanwhile others could have been using chem dog crosses and came out with similar terpene profiles and also been called sour diesel. So many of the genetics had similar parentage

      They do seem to be very closely related, they have very similar
      growing characteristics very vigorous compared to OG .. the headband seemed a little more indica leaning, denser bud structure.. the SD was more likely to stretch and foxtail , both were super skunky but SD was super lemony and both had heavy petrol aromes, seems like they both yielded big in skilled hands 2lbs per light was pretty normal

    Awesome discussion! I especially perked up at the mention of AJ's sour diesel being the same as ecsd, and the contention that ecsd is "not really sour diesel". From what I've gathered here in comments and the vid and the net, the aj sour diesel is chemdog x either itself or dnl, or something unknown, still a little confused as to how close that is to real sour diesel... Anyway super interesting because I crossed 3 strains last year with a male who was 2nd generation "AJ's lemon glue"(ajs sour diesel x lemon glue (lemon tree x glue75%)). The male parent - AJ's lemon glue 2nd gen had sisters of varying phenos, the best was a very orange juice smelling lady, all the phenos had strong THC. Never really got a strong gas smell from that strain but it's very nice.
    So, last year this male pollenated it's 4 sisters, a purple punch, and a Bigfoot glue (basically gg4). I'm really excited about the purple punch cross because it seems to have taken the stalk strength and thick colas of the sativa parent and retained the grape soda of the mom. The one Bigfoot cross I ended up with seems to be the lightest aroma, see how it turns out but not totally stoked yet. posted a vid about a month ago.
    Just chopped one of the pp 10 minutes ago and gonna bud wash the burnt up forest ash that she's been collecting since August.
    Thanks for enlightening a new grower of a few years, happy harvesting
